Xianxia C-drama Moonlight Mystique with Bai Lu and Ao Rui Peng Scheduled to Air on January 7th, 2025 on iQiyi
December 2024 has been all about period drama Blossom in terms of online C-drama buzz and in the last week Guardians of the Dafeng arrivedand now right after that in the first week of January Moonlight Mystique was reportedly scheduled to air. on January 7th. Moonlight is the romance between a general’s daughter cultivating immortality and her journey and romance with a demon god. The drama to date makes the strongest impression on me for the really ornate costumes and set design and I remain open to checking it out but with xianxia it either is watchable for me from the get go (like Sword and Fairy 6) or turns me off right away (most of them).

The blossoming love another XianXa that started recently with Sun Zhen Ni is pretty watchable so far mostly because of Sun Zhen Ni's character and good performance.
The problem with these fantasy/ fictitious royal scheming stories is yes they can be interesting at first but be on the lookout for possible favorite side characters dying to push some key plot to continue and a possible open or vague ending and if you are lucky maybe they will throw a special episode to show you to see that the ending was not the ending but it will be such a short snippet that it will make you roll your eyes and be like is that it? And if I’m not mistaken this story relates to the Zhao Lusi’s drama she did something about immortal something. The demon Lords story seemed to be a bit tragic but not sure if they will jive it fully like that or not. I have learned to wait for the drama to air first than check it out later with these genre dramas.

I am both a fan of one actor in each drama and also not a fan of the other actor lol.
I'm more into fantasy dramas, though, so Moonlight Mystique calls to me more. But I'm hoping Yang Zi's drama also does well, since she's helming it, so I hope she chose it because of good script.
