Oh hells naw! Like, WTF is Liu Xue Yi and his agency even thinking accepting this drama. I can totally see C-ent wanting to elevate talented and adorable former child and now teen actress Ai Mi into leading lady level but it should be in a modern youth high school drama and not in an actual romance with an adult male lead. The drama in question is titled 揽流光三千 with the English title Love Travels Through Time and is about a girl seeking her long lost father. But the male lead is NOT said father and is a mystical figure that helps her find her father and goodness gracious the daddy issues are already screaming out. Liu Xue Yi is 34 years old and more importantly Ai Mi is underage at 16 years old currently and even the very thought of these two having a romantic scene onscreen is giving me the hives. Yes yes, I know actors and actresses can act older and younger and her character may very well be of age and blah blah but I’m just not liking this type of casting when there are many other dramas that Ai Mi can be a female lead in these days and with a more age appropriate male lead. After the hot mess that was Kill Me Love Me and his on deck not looking too good drama A Moment But Forever I feel Liu Xue Yi needs a break.
Well this is both fast and really odd of a pick. K-ent is reporting that…

Disaster ensues...poor Liu Xue Yi - always the wrong choice.
Has female leads finished in China? There's nobody else in the whole of C-ent that can convincingly play her role?! Moreover, what are her parents thinking!!!! If the ML doesn't have sense at least her parents should! She's 16!!!!!!! Father Abeg ohhh!
Hahaha. Na really abeg o.
Creepy.
If I were Liu Xie Yi I would have rejected thr role because of that
That age difference is very uncomfortable for viewing...
Liu Xueyi seems to be in the same pickle with his agency as Jeremy Tsui was. Having ever younger (and moderately talented) co-stars forced on him until he had to announce his retirement to get out of it. I hope Liu XueYi will manage to get out of there before it is too late.
Contrary to what many people think, the majority of these actors have very little say in the choice of the dramas they are cast in or who their co-stars are. Only some very high-profile people can pick and choose.
You make a good point, there are similarities between the 2 actors.
What do you mean having ever younger costars forced on him? Isn’t this his first one? Although I definitely think the age gap is too much for me and I hope this casting rumor isn’t true. If it is, it’s probably one of the biggest ones to date.
His last few dramas that aired are with like Ju Jingyi, Zhong Chuxi, and Wu Jinyan, who are all in their 30s. The dramas that haven’t aired have Tang Yan, and Meng Ziyi. The youngest is MZY who is in her late 20s. Jeremy had it way worse being paired up back to back with people like Yang Chaoyue, Ouyang Nana, Zhou Jieqiong,
Ught... disgusting. Can they find someone with similar age? She's only 16.. i hope they will change the script. He is the father!!! Aigoo.. i cant imagine her being in love with an uncle. Especially when she's underage.
It's not that big of a deal people. They are actors. It's Asian culture too. There might not be any physical due to her age. To know that an actual actress plays the right age part of the character will make the drama feel accurately. We are suppose to feel uncomfortable.
I don't have a problem with age gaps in screen, when both are adults. But a 16 year old? That's just wrong.
No.
Unless she plays his daughter or niece, I feel very, very sorry for him. He couldn’t have picked this.
WHAT is his agency thinking? Isn’t she still underaged? She’s 16 wtf!
