It’s thanks to the good graces of these two being talented actors that they have worked together multiple times and in the different iterations it all works. News has it that Lee Do Hyun is considering the offer to be the male lead in the next Hong Sisters drama in development, and if he accepts it will likely reunite him with Go Min Si who has been offered the female lead. They played siblings in the Sweet Home series and of course star-crossed lovers in period romance Youth of May. It will be back to romance land again here and feels like a do-over since their story didn’t end so happily in Youth of May. I’m always happy to hear Lee Do Hyun picking a drama and this will be his first post-military project as he is set to be discharged from the Air Force next month in May 2025. Doing this drama will also reunite him with the Hong Sisters who gave him his first breakout as the second male lead in Hotel Del Luna, which for me he was my male lead in that drama lol. Still forever Team Chung Myung, sure he fucked up but he paid for it in passion and a sword through the chest and forever watching over his little sister love.

I love them so much and this might be their 4th time reuniting since they also worked on some sort of cf web drama or something like that.
I didn't watch Youth of May, only edits of this drama, and I watched Sweet home with them, and honestly I don't feel such strong chemistry worth to put them in many projects together.
And by projects I watched with her I don't think GMS has strong acting skills to play diverse roles and to look as different characters in dramas, especially with the same co-lead.
So far their casting news made me less interested.
And I'm also interested why Cha Eun Woo rejected this drama.
Anyway, I liked LBH in Hotel Del Luna. His character was my second lead syndrome, so it's interesting to see how he will work with Hong Sisters.

Same thoughts. So excited to see Lee Do Hyun back from military. I hope he decides on a different project. GMS is okay but I would love to see him paired with other actresses. He is so talented. A different actress will bring a different side of his.
I watched Youth of May. Their chemistry was okay there. Nothing special to want me to see them together again. It was more of the historical backdrop that really carried that drama vs their chemistry.
I read LBH getting a lot of drama offers. Before military he played in 3 dramas and one movie for one year, so maybe even if he will choose this drama, he also will choose something else, with different genre for example and co-lead. If to choose who he would look good and didn't play before, I think Park Eun Bin, Kim Tae Ri, Moon Chae Won, Ryu Hye Young, Go Bo Gyeol he would look good and act good with. And maybe Chae Soo Bin, Choi Hee Jin, Han Ji Hyun, Choi Hee Jin. There's a lot of genres and good actresses to play with, so I hope to see some casting news which would get me more exciting.
I beg to have a different opinion about Youth of May. LDH and GMS has great chemistry in that drama and their love story is pretty convincing given that turmoil setting in the SK history.
I did not watch them in other dramas, Sweet Home included cuz this Netflix hit is just not my cup of tea. I don't mind their collab again cuz their acting in YoM touched my heart.

By edits I watched about Youth of may GMS's acting was mid to me (I know it's lame to judge acting skills just by edits, but I also compared it with dramas with GMS I already watched).
I will watch this drama someday, maybe my opinion will change
Lee Do Hyun has incredibly shown his wide spectrum and versatility across varied genres prior to his enlistment for his mandatory military service. He has certainly established himself as a credible & must-watch actor. His breakout role in Hotel del Luna in 2019 was so captivating with great charm. His lead role in 18 Again in 2020 was so impeccable that earned him multiple awards.
In another hit 2020 series, Sweet Home S1, he was so remarkable with the dark & complex character that he absolutely stood out. Youth of May released in 2021 further highlighted his emotional depth & acting prowess. The Glory and The Good Bad Mother in 2023 further solidified his reputation as a top-tier actor.
If you had been smitten by his debut movie, a blockbuster( Exhuma ) & his stellar performances in Death's Game Ep 4 & Sweet Home S3, I bet you'll be wildly excited with any news of him.

I know, I think LDH is a very good actor. I loved him in Hotel Del Luna, and I didn't even realise it was the same person while watching him in other projects. But I'm not LDH huge fan to be excited for just any casting news with him. I also considering writer/director, plot and co-lead of his drama to decide if I'm excited or not.
All projects you're named aren't romance dramas, LDH's performance was on him only. While Hong Sisters probably wrote romcom drama, their pairing playing a big role, and main leads need to cooperate with each other to portrait good chemistry and performance. I'm not a fond of GMS's acting and didn't feel good chemistry between them enough for me to want to watch them again together. And this is why this casting news decreased my interest.
But I'm not saying drama would be bad, or their pairing would be bad. I just said it made me less excited.
@Olesya1, have you watched 18 again, Melancholia, the Good Bad Mother yet? I was like you regarding LDH when I just watched a bit of him in the Glory and quit. But I was completely smitten by his on screen charisma and acting range after watching 18 again, Youth of May, Melancholia. I found him remaining pretty intriguing in the Good Bad Mother that I'm currently watching. A lot of people were charmed by him as the 2nd ML in Hotel Del Luna. I also checked those clips of him. TBH, his acting and presence in HDL would be underwhelming compared with his performance in those dramas I mentioned above.
I used to dismiss LDH by just watching a bit of the Glory and not impressed by his minor role dwarfed by a huge league of veteran costars in that series. Now I'm telling everyone that I have to eat my own words about my ignorance of his talent LOL. When I said Kim Soo Hyun wouldn't be missed much if completely wiped out from Kdrama scenes cuz K-ent lacks no talent to replace him in no time, the one coming instantly to my mind was LDH. Now, I admire this young acting talent. Plus, he has visuals and stature too, which is not insignificant to me this shallow drama fan LMAO.

I watched Sweet home, Death's game and Good bad mother with him. About Hotel Del Luna, I watched only scenes with him, lol. Plot and main leads weren't so interested to me to start to watch it, but then I saw some edit with LDH and IU and ran to see more. His character was the most interesting to me, and him and IU had big chemistry together. I didn't knew LDH's name at that time, and I didn't connect this drama with him for a while after I already watched other dramas with LDH.
What about "smitten by his charisma" - you named all dramas I didn't watch, lol. Maybe if I watched them I would be his huge fan already, I don't know. but by dramas I saw I know he's a great actor (but The Glory is a drama I got another second lead syndrome and watched only scenes with SHG and sml. Kind of irony.
P.S.: yes it's lame, but sometimes I judge some dramas and acting skills/presence just by edits).
What about "KSH wouldn't be missed" - I think he wouldn't be missed at first because he filmed in one drama for 2-3 years. It's not like he has big filmography for people to get used to his presence. But I really was anticipated to Knock off drama because of the plot, and it's a pity they filming so much it's hard to reshoot drama from the start with another main lead. I fear drama would be just cancelled and the script writer worked on wouldn't see a light.
I read CEW had scheduling conflicts and is likely enlisting soon (he's 28), so he passed on the drama. Like others, I also really enjoy LDH and think he's a very talented actor.

But with these writers, not sure they had a better ending than in Youth of May. I hope she won't have a stupid little brother in this one.
I am thrilled about his comeback. This one actor has won my heart with his acting talent and charm gracing each screen of his charismatic presence. I've been binging his dramas aired since 2020, now watching the Good Bad Mother. I used to dismiss him cuz he was somehow overshadowed by other veteran actors in the Glory including his real-life girlfriend, Lim Ji-yeon. My bad I confess to eat my own words LOL. He's now in the list of my fave K actors. LDH is perhaps the most versatile actor among his peers with a great acting range. In his generation, I root for him, Park Bo Gum, and Lee Jae Wook (although younger) the most.
LDH and GMS had great chemistry in Youth of May where they delivered a very heart-wrenching story. I hope this new drama will have a happy ending. PLZ Hong Sisters!
