The scandal and saga of K-actor Yoo Ah In‘s drug use arrest and prison sentence has come to an end. He was serving a one year sentence but had appealed the ruling, and earlier this year the high court changed his sentence to two years suspended so he was released from prison after serving just 5-months. The suspended sentence means if he does not relapse and completes all the other requirements, after two years the sentence will be considered served. The changed ruling is due to him lacking a criminal history for similar offenses and is not a danger to others, plus the court upheld all the fines he has to pay. On the heels of the appeal changing his prison sentence, last month on March 26th the production of the movie The Match with Lee Byung Hun and Yoo Ah In quickly released the movie, cutting Yoo Ah In from all promos but he’s fully in the movie as one of the male leads between a mentor and mentee in their Go match evolution and can’t be cut without the movie not making sense. The Match actually did well starting off top of the box office that week with 544,259 admissions. On the heels of The Match doing well, another long shelved Yoo Ah In starring movie Hi.5 announced this week that it will be released two months from now in June this year.

I wonder if he gets further royalties from the release or export of these shelved movies. He'd need a chance to make a living after all.
If it is a female actress, all her scenes will be cut. She will be cancelled and she will have to bear penalties.
One thing for sure yoo ah in is definitely the better actor than lee byunghun in this movie.
As a huge fan of this brilliant Korean actor, thank you for a concise, well written explanation of where his situation is at right now ~ particularly regarding his 'sentence' status. He'll be back to work sooner than his detractors might think.
I really hope that he will take care of his mental health , that drugs are behind him even if rehab is very hard . He is a great actor . Sure drugs are illegal but drinking and smoking kills much more persons evey year .
