Lee Seung Gi Severs All Ties with In-law Family After Father-in-law is Indicted Again for Stock Manipulation
A very public rebuke and distancing just happened in K-ent and is making huge headlines. Actor-singer Lee Seung Gi has announced that he and his actress wife Lee Da In have severed all ties with his in-law family (her family) on the heels of his father-in-law being indicted again for stock manipulation. The father-in-law is Lee Da In’s stepfather and married to her mom but did raise her, and the family has stuck by him after his first stock manipulation indictment and guilty verdict from 2016. Lee Seung Gi had formerly took the position that the stock manipulation happened was resolved before he married Lee Da In and was that family’s matter to handle, he and his wife had started their own independent family. But now he says he cannot ignore what happened, trust is fully lost with his in-laws family, rebukes his father-in-law for what he has done, and his wife is aligned with the decision to cut all ties with her own family. Lee Seung Gi fully apologized for his past statements on this issue and vows to live his life being positive and giving to society.
I get it because if he doesn’t make a statement like this he will probably be blacklisted or lose out for a prospective future as a celeb. But I could not imagine cutting ties permanently. Wrong or right they are still family unless they were never so close to begin with. Can’t be easy.
True that. You wouldn’t expect someone to do that or do that easily lest it’s a celebrity, constantly in the scrutiny for the actions of their relatives. He has already suffered a lot over this. This scandal is bad but I really feel for Lee Da In. That’s not even her biological father but a step father but be it anyone she shouldn’t be bearing the brunt of their actions. So ironic that she starred in Come and Hug me which is basically a story about not giving children the punishment of what their parents did.
Nah the only one we should be sorry for is lee seunggi.
During the case back then, lee dain and her sister went abroad to enjoy the money. She showed off vacationing when victim were having breakdown due to the fraud. They even killed themselves.
And when her stepfather got out from prison, she posted that the family finally got together again, congratulated her stepfather, and celebrated with red wine picture
For his career, he had to do so in public. And I believe he did made a mistake in standing by his Father-in-laws side in the beginning.
I find Lee Seung Gi is quite a trusting person towards people close to him. To be played by his most trusted agency, now his guilty father-in-law, he must have lots of growing up to do last few years. I do feel for him to be very honest.
I do enjoy his hosting ability, I enjoyed afew of his earlier songs and dramas. I hope we can see him back on small screen when time is right.

I feel bad that only korea condemns actors so quickly after a hard work they do.

It’s his decision to marry her despite the protest. He gave up his career for her and now they have a happy family.
However his act of severing ties won’t make any difference.
His singing career would survive… but as for acting he already left it for quite some time. And there are many actors filling the gap. Which is too bad coz he is a pretty talented actor.
I can understand his position. He loves the wife, it surely wasn’t easy to give up on her just because the public not approving it. It’s so unfortunate that the wife coming from a very problematic family.
Having said that, the statement really is to save his career. The public opinion has turned against him since he married her and defended her family shortly after marriage. I can completely understand his side but also understand why the public went so hard on him.
As far as I can see, his career has been on a downturn. No new acting job and no variety show as well. Back then I recalled that there was pretty much no variety show that doesn’t have Lee Seung Gi in it. It’s such a sad situation but I think he will manage.

He did Starlight Boys a few months ago, which took the usual idol competition shows and added a cruel and abusive edge to it, and he made his own ill-informed, unsympathetic, and out-of-touch comments during it. Which was disappointing.
While I can see his statement regarding his in-laws as a bit self-serving to save his career, I can also see it as a sincere rebuke against the in-laws. He’s a dad now, and I’m sure his priorities has shifted to protecting his immediate family unit of wife and child. Who would want their kid to be associated with a publicly-known scammer.
I found him consistently bland in acting though. Perhaps I haven’t watched enough dramas of LSG.
I was his fan before the whole fiasco, he isn’t an extremely talented actor for me. But he did quite well in vagabond and mouse. If you haven’t watch those two, you need to see it to judge his acting
All his other drama doesn’t really show any high acting skills.
People want leading man, well here you have it. He was willing to fight for his leading lady and now kid. Don’t say they don’t exist. lol
From the beginning he knew about the Inlaws flaw. Is he really so dumb or stupid to think they will change. These Inlaws is killing him slowly. Wake up and realise the are gona suck you dry.
