Written and Video Previews for Episode 18 of King Flower

When I saw the still above (and the preview snippet containing that scene), I fairly squealed in giddiness and annoyance (yes, I know its contradictory) that King Flower dang stole the cutest first date ever of Zi Qi and Xing Ren at Tamsui in episode 12 of Office Girls. In the KF version, Terry grabs Da Hua’s hand and eats something off her chopstick (squeee), a twist on Xing Ren pretending to offer a fish ball to Zi Qi before yanking it right out of the poor chap’s mouth (still so much lulz). I miss the sparkling joie de vivre of OG, with none of the SETTV Sunday night dramas since then capturing that sense of youthful normalcy with people working and playing and generally living normal lives. KF was a mess of a drama from the get-go, without a clear narrative understanding and finding itself in a runaway train situation with second male lead Terry becoming the central focus (and audience favorite) of the story. It also hurt that Chris Wu most of the time appeared to be the only one giving a fug about bringing the acting heat, so suddenly he’s the only one anyone cares about getting a happy ending.

I really don’t know how this drama will end, despite the seemingly contradictory spoilers dropping left and right. I do know that Guan Jun continues to accumulate more hate from me based on the previews for episode 18 – how can he be so insecure as to break up with Da Hua that way, and pull Xiao Fei in as a shield. Neither girl deserves that, and he deserves the rack for continuing to put his feelings first. Boo hoo, you can’t compete with Terry, cry me a river. Why can’t he be like Terry and just talk honestly and maturely to Da Hua. Ask her if she’s fallen for Terry? Ask her to take some time to think about who she wants? Tell her he’ll wait and respect whatever decision she makes? Be both a good man and a great big brother to her? Am I asking just too much of his character to evidence just a shred of decency, such as asking a pig to fly or a horse to talk? Whatever happens, at least I know episode 18 is still chock full of Terry goodness, which always counts for something. If Da Hua weren’t so dense, she would know that the way she interacts with Terry now (look at that smile above) is a world’s away from when they first met.

Written preview for episode 18:

Da Hua pretending to be Liang Yen causes a huge stir. But Ouyang Tai has chosen to stand with Da Hua and candidly face the slings and arrows of the public. The two of them see each other’s true feelings when faced with a common crisis, their relationship become even closer and harder to separate.

But Guan Jun keeps saying that Da Hua is just his sister. Da Hua thought Guan Jun was just being jealous and angry, so a hurt Da Hua makes the painful decision to tell Terry that they can’t see each other again………. Will a hurt Ouyang Tai give up his feelings for Da Hua? Will Da Hua be able to do this and successfully win back Guan Jun’s heart?

Guan Jun doesn’t just tell the world that Da Hua is his sister, he also starts purposely keeping his distance from Da Hua. Even in front of Da Hua, he holds Xiao Fei’s hand and says he is dating Xiao Fei. To Da Hua, who has liked Guan Jun since she was a little girl, this is a huge blow. Did her Guan Jun oppa really change his feelings? Will a heartbroken Da Hua still be able to patiently wait for him, will be she able to entrust her future to a man who can change his feelings just like that?

When Da Hua is at her lowest point, she lifts her head and sees before her Terry, the person she told not to meet anymore. So Terry was there all along, like a gentle knight keeping vigil by Da Hua’s side. Will Terry be able to touch Da Hua’s heart? Will Da Hua be able to see her own feelings clearly and be able to face head on this complicated love problem?

Previews for episode 18:

“Let’s not see each other again.”

Terry: I like you. I just wish that when you are sad, I can keep you company. When I miss you, I can come see you. That is enough.

Da Hua: But I really don’t want Guan Jun to misunderstand. Let’s not see each other again.

[You know, if Da Hua doesn’t know the best thing to happen to her life and doesn’t want him, then boo hoo for her sad sack crush on Lin Guan Jun and please let Terry go. Break his heart and never look back, because there is a line out the door and around the corner waiting for him.]

“You like someone else already?:

Guan Jun: I’m currently dating Xiao Fei.

Xiao Fei: Lin Guan Jun, I knew you treated me the best.

Da Hua: Guan Jun oppa, so you like someone else already?

Terry: Da Hua!

Guan Jun: What’s wrong with Hu Xiao Fei! She’s pretty and rich. Being with her, I can shave off working hard for 30 years.

Da Li: Guan Jun, do you know what you are saying?

Da Hua: This must be a misunderstanding.

Terry: Misunderstanding? How long are you going to keep lying to yourself? I know right now you……

Da Hua: DON’T SAY ANYMORE!

[DA FUQ! DID YOU JUST YELL AT TERRY? Da Hua, don’t make me go to Taipei and bitch slap you. I cannot believe you screamed at Terry because of something that douchebag of the millennium Lin Guan Jun just did to you. My god, how stupid are you going to keep proving yourself to be? I. Can’t. Even. I need to send a SWAT team there to liberate Terry from the insane asylum.]

  • ugh seeing previews make me happy (cause of terry) but annoyed (at da hua's stupidity) at the same time! Why is da hua YELLING at terry he's done nothing but try to make you feel better.. RAGE

  • Seriously, Guan jun is annoying for the first few eps, but during the later half I found Da hua to be super annoying. Her character is just completely dumb.

    • The only redeeming thing about DH right now is that Terry loves her. Otherwise she annoys the shit out of me, too.

    • Hahaha, no, there have been much much MUCH worse. Most recent case in point - Spring Love.

      • What really gets me is that this writer has something that writers dream of - a character that comes alive, that takes over the story and carries it along on the sheer energy of their being - and they are balking like an old mule.

    • I agree. I laugh so much reading these that I almost (almost) forget the pain this storyline is putting us all through.

Oh, yeah. Are they hiring for that SWAT team? I don't even think most of us would need to be paid. We would all do it for free. Before, I thought we should get Terry and Da Hua t-shirts. Now, I am thinking we should get "FREE TERRY" t-shirts. I mean, he seems the only person left with sense in this show.

  • I actually don't think King Flower is a mess. I think the writing is beautiful. I like how there isn't strong antsy scenes. I like how everything is reveal so quickly in each episode instead of dragging things. I like how Liang father became so forgiving so easily. I like the godfather/goddaughter thing going on. I like how Du Hua mother seems to be so understanding and didn't really had a fit that her daughter underwent plastic surgery although she needs to develop a backbone and drop that loser of a husband (the only character i really despise in the show). I think Guan Juan is whiny and etc but he isn't a bad guy. My favorite character of course is Terry, he always have the best intentions and never listened to the advice of others to used Du Hua, he always keep her welfare in every decision he makes. Da Hua is also an amazing character, despite her not comprehending that terry is the better guy right away and not understanding her growing feeings for him, she is committed to help out terry for the long haul, she shows liang dad with genuine love, she sincerely cares for her family, although i do hate her and her siblings for being an enabler to their dad.

I really think Da Hua discovering her feelings for terry is at the right pace, I think Da Hua has being with Terry for only like half a year or less, and she has being crushing on Guan Juan her entire life so I don't expect her to jump ship that fast.

This is my favorite Taiwanese drama at the moment which may change if Terry and Dua Hua don't get the happy ending which I believe they will get and all signs point to it. So I'm just happily enjoying the ride rather than pulling my hair and shouting at the screen.

    • I agree. Other than Terry, I love how there isn't really the commonplace themes in drama such as the evil mom or grandpa or something like that. Koala pointed this out but the rich seems to be more humanized here than the poor which isn't usually seen in most dramas. Also the fact that there isn't really the unnecessary slapstick humor that ho-my-goodness I've seen so many in taiwanese dramas (which I have a love-hate relationship) The comedy here, I think, isn't cheesy and just the right amount. Especially the Da Hua-Terry scenes, Da Hua's naivety and Terry's reaction every single time is both funny and romantic~

    • There have been great "scenes" but this drama's overarching narrative is a jumbled confused mess.

    • I really like your comment! If anything this drama has succeeded in getting all of us to rage and swoon. If it were not captivating, we would not be this interested. Although this drama can be really silly at times, I've stopped worrying and just enjoying the ride as well. It looks like Terry will get a happy ending no matter what and I'm patiently waiting to see it! :)

  • All I know is that I just realized that I won't get to see Chris onscreen every week in about a month. :( That will make me sad.

    • Did you see the one of Chris Wu pulling his big ears? I didn't understand a word but he's stretching them out with his hands while giving a running commentary.
It's nice to see him and James having some fun.

      • Chris is hilarious here - his side comments... Good thing there was James to give out all the info. LOL :) they are pretty cute together here. Too bad there is no bromance to speak of anywhere in the series.

  • How DARE SHE!!!!!!!!!!!!
To this perfectly OVERLY HANDSOME AND LOVING TERRY!!!!!!
She better get her act together and understand that if she let Terry go, she`ll regret it for a lifetime!!!!!

  • I don't understand if this is because she's legitimately blinded by love that she can't really figure out what she wants or because she's simply dumb and lost and needs more baby talk to figure out that she might be really inlove with Guan Jun and not Terry. :/ GOSH HOW FRUSTRATING DAHUA IS! Terry, is alright boy. Seriously, so much better girls around there ready to have your wasted heart. So wonderful of you really to be genuinely enduring and patient with that simpleton. :*

  • Sigh the reason why I still root for Terry and Dahua is because Terry likes her. If not, I actually rather he ends up with someone else who deserve him more. The writers better redeem Dahua's character soon n not make her so clueless.

    • You have a point.
WE deserve TERRY, not DA FUQ.

I am all for signing up for the SWAT team, too.

      • I am the leader of the SWAT team. Jomo, be my second-in-command. But no groping the hostage after he's rescued. I have eyes on the back of my head.

      • But but but .... don't we have to search (closely)for any scars he might have been inflicted?;) I'm so in that SWAT TEAM !!
