Man, K-ent with its bombshell news cycles just love to screw with my sleep patterns. Before calling it a night, out came the news from Korea that the December SBS drama Man From the Stars has confirmed the long rumored leads in Kim Soo Hyun and Jeon Ji Hyun. As everyone knows by now, this would reunite them from the hit caper movie The Thieves, where they played members of the same criminal enterprise. She was the sunbae cat burgler, he was the hoobae with a crush on her. It was cute, there was a hot kiss and some boob adjusting, but ultimate it was all teasing and no sizzle and just fizzled at the end around the same time the entire movie fizzled. But they had chemistry all right, and whatever the reasons are that lured top actress Jeon Ji Hyun back to television after a 14 (!) year hiatus since she did Happy Together with Song Seung Heon and Lee Byung Hun back in 1999, she’s decided this alien fantasy tale is the right vehicle for her. I hesitate to call it time-traveling because the general synopsis says an alien with perfect looks and enhanced physical abilities such as hearing, speed, and sight lands on Earth in the Joseon dynasty. He spends four hundred years living amongst the humans and in the modern day and age of 2013, he meets an actress and they fall in love. So basically its a Korean version of Superman and instead of a reporter Lois Lane will be an actress instead. I adore both Kim Soo Hyun and Jeon Ji Hyun so this drama better have a good script and decent directing because I already know SBS is going to pour money into it and market it like heck considering the A-listers headlining it. It’s slated to air on Wed-Thurs after Those Who Wear the Crown, Must Withstand the Weight: The Heirs, and will likely compete head on with Age of Feeling on KBS with Kim Hyun Joong, Im Soo Hyang, and Kim So Eun, as well as Beautiful Man with Jang Geun Seok and whatever leading lady MBC manages to land. Directing Man from the Stars is the PD who did Tree with Deep Roots and Painter of the Wind, while writing is the screenwriter who did Queen of Housewives, Queen of Reversals, and You Who Rolled in Unexpectedly. Can I say how much I’m looking forward to this with sincere anticipation and no snark (yet).

This is the most anticipated show for me -- even over heirs, beautiful man, or age of feeling, all of whom consist of beautiful leading men. Jang Geun Seok just needs to tone his usual outlandish style.
See, in my mind, kim soo hyun and jeon ji hyun are such a hot pairing.
So, sexy otp, check. unique backdrop. check. good director, check. comedic writer, check.
And then you add in qualities of comic book heros and i am sold.
