The Leads of Marry Him If You Dare Sign Scripts to Commemorate Filming Completion and Freedom

I didn’t feature Jung Yong Hwa much during the run of Marry Him If You Dare, much like I didn’t feature Han Chae Ah much either though it was for different reasons. For Han Chae Ah, she was so underused and barely had any official stills released of her I couldn’t feature her if I wanted to. And I did want to, because her performance was wonderful and her character even more so. As for Jung Yong Hwa? Initially his performance was wooden and underwhelming, but it gelled better by the middle episodes and I was starting to really enjoy having him in this drama, until his character arc jumped the shark so fast and hard he’s somewhere on another planet. I grew annoyed, bewildered, and now totally repulsed by Park Se Joo and his “I want that toy car at all costs” mentality, so much so that it takes every ounce of recapping dedication to not FF his scenes. I cringe every time Se Joo shows up now because I know what he’s going to say will piss me off royally unless the words are “I’m want to be platonic friends with you, Na Mi Rae.” I still think Jung Yong Hwa improved noticeably, less stiff and more believable when emoting, and he definitely had more screen presence now than in his earlier works. So better late than never, have some Jung Yong Hwa cuteness! The main leads were photographed signing the script for MHIYD to commemorate the wrap of filming so I thought we viewers who suffered along with them ought to applaud the levels of professionalism that allowed them to act out this drama script to the end. Yoon Eun Hye was technically her usual warm and engaging self but the spark was dimmed because Mi Rae is such a unlikable female lead. Lee Dong Gun, sigh, what more can be said about how unbelievably good his performance was and he brought more to Kim Shin than the character was written because I felt the unspoken torment. I hope the leads were all hanging in there together and perhaps giggling at the absurdity of it all as they got a hold of each new script and read through what they had to act out. Thank god its ending in a few hours for us all, and if I had a say in it these three would not be signing the script but instead burning it in a bonfire celebration.

This drama also had one of the worst costume and make up departments EVER in any K-drama I’ve watched in recent years. Mi Rae’s outfits were bizarrely fugly for no reason, and more has been written about her hair already so no need to rehash that sailed ship. Han Chae Ah managed to look nice throughout the drama but nothing to write home about. Lee Dong Gun looked the part of professional and straitlaced Announcer Kim Shin even if there wasn’t enough hot cool Lee Dong Gun on my screen. But it’s the inexplicable change of Park Se Joo from handsome cool VJ to middle-aged sleazy business man in the last two episodes that has me scratching my head. That hairstyle above on Jung Yong Hwa is a travesty to the poor boy. Me no approve.

What’s the over-under on whether there will be any kissing in episode 16 between Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Dong Gun? Put your bets down now. I say whatever kiss happens will be too little, too late. Prove me wrong, drama!

  • 3 actors look so tired.. their eyes a lil bit red. thought it because lack of sleep or too much happiness because finally the production is ended.

LOL-ing so hard when you said burn the script! :))))

  • I'm not watching this but a YEH drama and no kiss....that will be truly disappointing for the viewers and her fans.....let's see what's in store tonight....

    • Eh... I dunno. For the final episode? I feel like there's been so little romance that there's no buildup for any excitement for a kiss.

Heck, I've been hoping for a Seju and Yookyung kiss but at this point, it's impossible for any sort of satisfying conclusion for them (and for me).

      • probably kiss scene will be between FMR and FKS or worse between SJ and MR ,something like kiss scene of park shin hye and lee min ho very painfully

  • There is something so very, very RIGHT AND APT about the fact this signing did not feature the one lead whose character was the only consistently outstanding feature of the entire turdfest. If it weren't for the fact that YK was such a fantastic character, I'm sure HCA would have been too busy to attend this signing, busy hacking her resume to obliterate all trace of ever having been connected with it.

      • yeah it actually did make me feel better. This dude is a bitter and ugly old man. His post in soompi is always full of bitterness. It turned off many people from having a decent drama experience. Like dud...if you hate this drama so much then get the f*ck off it. It's that simple.
And if you want Yookyung/HCA so bad and have your head so far up her ass, then I dont know, build your own company and give her the main lead role. He is like a robot who keeps repeating how much the other characters while Yookyung's shit dont stink.
OK we get it! You love her that much...you've only repeated it over a million times.

  • Anyone knows if Lee Dong Gun is doing another drama (and hopefully he will stay away from the scriptwriter of MHIYD!)?

  • All of them should take a long vacation in somewhere warm or hot until this year is over, in order to recover from this nightmare. And start anew.

I got to say this is the first time a drama makes me so distressed.

    • SO ANNOYED at the total waste of talent, wasted opportunity!

I agree with Koala, costuming and makeup was a disaster for this show. YEH is a lovely woman, and yet they made her look pale and dumpy and overtired from day 1. Jonghwa - I know the earrings are his "thing," he always wears them, but what sort of actor wears his/her own jewelry when portraying someone radically different? He could get away with the earrings when he was the young staffer, but the ahjussi hair and the three-piece suits and then those earrings like hubcaps - it just makes me laugh, and wonder if the costume department was either on crack or just unable to pry them out of his ears.

Then the story - what a total waste, of logic, of talent, of a golden opportunity: YEH and LDG could have burned up the screen, if the story had only given them the chance. I weep for what might have been.

  • What's next for YEH and LDG? I feel that if they start a new project after MHID, we can quickly get this drama out of our minds.

  • LDG and YEH sigh, I feel sad for both of them! hope they get a better written drama next, especially LDG! sigh!

  • I hope the actors don't become discourage and depressed and continue their careers to best as possible.

  • THIS PICTURES SAY A LOT . FOR EXAMPLE THIS IS THE WORST PROYECT WE'VE WORKED.
WHY WE CHOSE THIS PROYECT WHY :(
FINALLY WE END THIS TERRIBLE PROYECT
AS SOON AS IF POSSIBLE WE'LL SUE THE WRITER OF THIS GARBAGE
THIS GARBAGE IS NOT GOING TO DESTROY OUR CAREERS , WILL BE BACK !!
