Top C-actress Zhou Xun Marries Hollywood Actor Archie Kao at Celeb Charity Concert

The Chinese A-list actress goddesses are falling like flies this year in terms of getting hitched and off the market. Not that the average joe, or most actors for that matter, could really ever hope to land one of these lovely ladies. The biggest news so far has been Gao Yuan Yuan marrying her younger TW-actor boyfriend Mark Chao, but there have been weddings aplenty in the Chinese entertainment industry this year already including Yang Mi and Hawick Lau and Tong Li Ya and Cheng Si Cheng. Not to mention Tang Wei announced her engagement to Korean director Kim Tae Young. Today the ante has been upped with the shocking and completely unexpected announcement by Zhou Xun of her marriage to Chinese-American Hollywood actor Archie Kao (Gao Sheng Yuan 高圣远). Archie is probably known for having a recurring role in the cast of the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, but he’s been bouncing around Hollywood for years and has a pretty long list of television and movie appearances. Hollywood may be a bigger pond than Chinese entertainment but it’s undeniable that Zhou Xun is considered one of the best actresses of her generation and a glorious natural beauty to boot. Four of China’s top actresses are now off the market including Zhou Xun, Gao Yuan Yuan, Tang Wei, and Zhao Wei, leaving only Fang Bing Bing and Li Bing Bing still being glamorous without needing a man around. Congrats to Zhou Xun and Archie, the two of them announced that they already got married at the end of a charity concert last night attended by many of China’s top celebrities to raise money for a children’s foundation. By doing their announcement there, they preempted the media getting the scoop and profiting off it, and managed to raise the public awareness of this charity event. Kudos to them!

  • The Asian infatuation with Hollywood borders on the insane. How is it possible for this nobody, who has earned his living playing supporting characters on bad network shows, to snag an A-list c-actress? All because he has worked in "Hollywood"? Truly bizarre... :)

    • I think your comment is uncall for. What is wrong with supporting roles? It is still a role. Love has no border.

    • because they want to take a challenge and hope to boost the asian representation in hollywood with their presence? Your comment is idiotic.

    • Actually, your comment is bizarre. How does his roles have anything to do with who he marries? He could be a Hollywood superstar or a truck driver. She fell for him and seems happy with him. I know it's a difficult concept to understand but it's just that simple. Some comments are so idiotic, I can't even...

      • If you can point me to one example of an A-list actress that has married a truck driver I will let this attempt to derail my comment slide. Otherwise, I will just observe that, in the real world where superstars (almost always) marries men with (nearly) equal star power, it is clear that this guy would never even have been in her consideration if the kind of career he has had, had unfolded in China instead of in Hollywood.

    • There are plenty of examples of powerful women who married less than famous men. Just to name a few: Julia Roberts (triple-A list Hollywood actress) and cameraman Danny Moder, world renowned Britney Spears and backup dancer Kevin Federline, singing powerhouse Christina Aguilera and ex-husband, music marketing dude Jordan Bratman ("who?" You may ask? --- "exactly!", I might answer), and best for last: media mogul Oprah Winfrey and educator/author Stedman Graham.
Also, you said "in the real world" ...... Umm I hate to break it to you, but where these ridiculously rich and powerful women live is anything but the "real world".

    • Small correction: Oprah and Stedman are not married, but have been in a committed relationship since 1986.

    • Do you honestly think that an A-list actress would marry a nobody from American TV for the hollywood status and infatuation?

They are in same profession.. may be they clicked and fell in love.

    • well, he maybe not an A-lister in hollywood, but from what i've read, he's not an averahe joe either. He's been produced a movie that won several awards called "fast money", he also directed and wrote a short movie. This man has quality and i'm sure he's about to get big eventually. • Honestly, my first introduction to this guy was in one of the Power Ranger seasons. But anyway, as long as the two of them are happy, they raised money for a charity and brought attention to a problem, who cares?

  • I remember him from my days of watching CSI. He used to be one of my favorite characters. I wish them all the best.

  • What a beautiful couple. Zhou Xun looks like an angel in that dress. I hope that she will have a long-lasting marriage with a lot of happiness.
