When news broke that Cha Seung Won and Lee Yeon Hee were considering the offer as leads of the upcoming MBC annual 50-episode sageuk Splendid Politics (also known as Princess Jeongmyung), I was super excited because I like them both and think she works particularly well with much older male leads. Her chemistry with Lee Seon Kyun was lovely in Miss Korea and I would like to see her continue the same impressive acting improvement opposite Cha Seung Won.
Both are now confirmed and they are sure to have lots of scenes together, but it won’t be as romantic leads as he’s playing male lead antagonist Gwanghaegun while she’ll be his younger half-sister Princess Jeongmyung. An offer has gone out to rising young actor Seo Kang Joon to play the romantic interest opposite Lee Yeon Hee, marking his first sageuk role if he accepts. Any actor or actress who wants to be taken seriously has to cut teeth on a traditional sageuk and both Seo Kang Joon and Lee Yeon Hee will do well to keep up their upswinging acting career with this opportunity.
The pretty is going to be out of control in this drama just on Lee Yeon Hee-Seo Kang Joon’s cheekbones alone. I’m one happy camper with the eye candy, even better is the potential for improving acting chops together.

Im Little worried, i dont want to see CSW being wasted along side a pretty boy who cant act. SKJ showed he is not ready for big in Cunning Single Lady and his current weekend the male lead who plays Dal Bong is much.
Somtimes Korean dramas is ruined by shallow looks casting......
I have similar thoughts lol
I like Seo Kang Joon. I don't know why, maybe it's because it amuses me that he is gaining popularity, by basically doing the male aegyo, lol. Although he is an actor, he is basically marketed like an idol (group and all). I do hope he is not as dim as he appears to be, on variety shows, and it is all an act.
Now about the drama, never thought LYH would get praises for her acting, but she has done well in two dramas, so maybe this will be SKJ's breakout, just like TMET's was Kim Soo Hyun's (another actor that doesn't have major acting chops, but gets praised to the high heavens).
Unfortunately, seems Cha Seung Won will get the Jung Il Woo treatment from TMETS, the more mature actor, being relegated to irrelevance and second lead. Hopefully, he read the script well and he knew what to expect before signing on. Cause with the OTP shipping of the cute leads, he shouldn't expect to get many scenes, other than him twirling his mustache as the annoying, evil villain.
Oh, I also welcome the return of the traditional saeguk's, it seems they have been missing from the kdrama sphere for so long. Where are the current DW Sejong's, DJG's, Yi San's, heck even the Dong Yi's.
I have waited 3 years for new CSW drama and YAAS was weak and I don't want to see repeat of that.
Ugh, this kid. Wonder who his sugar mama is? (kidding... maybe)
I really hope CSW knows what he is doing and that the love interest's character is an afterthought. Seeing him take a backseat to a guy who's got nothing but his face going for him would be torture.
Really? Eh. I think he's mediocre at best. I find his mouth extremely distracting when he talks and he seems to have only one intense gaze. Snoozefest.
One of these days I'd love to see Lee Yeon Hee reunite with Choi Jin Hyuk. Gumi-parents forever!
