Yoon Kye Sang and Seo Ye Ji Confirmed for jTBC Drama Last

The leads are confirmed now so upcoming jTBC drama Last just needs to get itself a time slot on the cable network. Last is based on a dark webtoon of the same name, dealing with the story of a successful businessman who expects a big payday but ends up losing everything. He then falls into the ranks of the throngs of homeless living in Seoul train station, and there he navigates the hierarchy of the homeless to slowly climb the ranks of power within the disenfranchised.

The leads are now confirmed to be Yoon Kye Sang, coming off a big ratings disappointment with his last drama Beyond the Clouds (Full Sun), and Seo Ye Ji, who has been working nonstep in dramas with Records of a Night Watchman into Super Daddy Yeol and now Last. Directing will be the PD behind The Chaser and Empire of Gold and the screenwriter was on the three person writing team for thriller drama IRIS. If the drama heads into production in early summer then I’m expecting it to follow My Love Eun Dong in the Fri-Sat night time slot.

In addition to Seo Ye Ji and Yoon Kye Sang, Park Ye Jin is reportedly in talks for the second female lead, which is a role she is perpetually playing and almost always delivers the exact same performance aura. I’m pretty indifferent to Seo Ye Ji but have such fond memories of Yoon Kye Sang from his drama performances that worked, such as Best Love, My Sister-in-Law is 19, and Who Are You. Alas, he also seems to have an unlucky streak lately with dramas but maybe a darker jTBC drama will be the right project to deliver something worth watching.

  • Love watching Yoon Kye Sang act. Really loved him in Who Are You, and really liked him in his drama special with Park Shin Hye.

Haven't seen anything else of his, but this sounds somewhat promising even if the plot kind of sounds like Giant (which I still need to see).

Don't know anything about the actress, but hopefully she doesn't completely suck.

    • This would be like Giant if Giant was like 6 episodes instead of 60, or if Giant never left the childhood section and Gang-mo never met Hwang Tae-seop or got past his street rat phase. I know you said you haven't seen it but the comparison was headscratchy enough that I had to say something. You should totally watch Giant, though! It's really awesome.

Otherwise, I share your love of Yoon Kye-sang, and I'm with you hoping the actress doesn't suck.

  • Seo Je Yi's aura reminds of Crystal Liu. She has that classical chinese beauty look.

  • I just got reminded how much of a snooze fest Seo Ye Jin was on Running Man's last week episode.
I get that not all guests can be hilarious but at least, be somewhat entertaining. Smilling and giggling isn't fun to watch on a variety show. It's upsetting that she isn't even the firs to act like that. I sure hope that she won't feel disappointed to have a short screentime because she sure deserved it. It doesn't help that Gary was fanboying around her instead of trying to create funny situations. I really like RM, I really do but sometimes, their behaviors toward female celebrity and especially toward actresses can get really annoying.

    • It wasn't all that bad. i think HJM was more more worse. at least in full sun they had chemistry and the story was intense. also yoon kye sang did his part well.

Don't sure about his new drama though. i don't know the female lead. i'll wait for the teaser.
