Yesterday on May 21st was the wedding day for Ahn Jae Hyun and Gu Hye Sun, with the two doing as stated and getting married in a low key way with the filing of a marriage certificate only. The newlyweds then made a trip to Salvation Hospital in Seoul to donate the money they would have spent on a lavish wedding banquet, a gesture that is both sweet and sensible regardless of whether some folks think it’s all a PR stunt or for netting good will.
I think they are genuine, especially Gu Hye Sun who has been donating to various children’s charities throughout her acting career. It’s pretty funny they ended up at a hospital as their first post-marriage joint outing, what with all the hospital time spent together filming Blood with both playing doctors. Now they get to play husband and wife in real life and I couldn’t be happier for them. It’s nice to cap off their romance from news break to marriage in the short span of three months, and with such positive feedback the entire way.

Awwww... Good for them! They wanted to handle the wedding their way, and they did. PR intentions or not, I think it's great that they followed their heart, and blessed that hospital with the money they would have used for their wedding.
Question: so that was all they needed, to be married? Just to register their marriage, and fill out a form? I'm not very knowledgeable about that aspect of social norms in Korea (besides what I have seen in dramas), which is why I'm asking.
yeah to make your marriage legal these registration and paper work is need to consider one a married couple (these are only condition) but yeah every country have tradition that people do or consider as part of marriage but on legal term they are not necessary.
A wedding ceremony is optional in Korea and Japan, filing a marriage certificate is the topmost priority to get yourself married and a wedding reception or wedding ceremony is sometimes followed like months later or nothing at all.
Thank you guys for your answers. So the marriage license in Korea and in Japan, would that be the equivalent of the marriage license people need to get at the courthouse in the US? Because it sounds like it is. I was just curious.

It is me or really Ahn Jae Hyun looks like The slimmer version of Lee Min Ho :) anyhow so happy for this couple. Every time i see any news about them it bring smile on my face.
