Episode 14 of Flower of Evil Hits New Ratings High of 4.767% as Hyun Soo and Ji Won Stay Aligned to Capture Accomplice Baddie Hee Sung

Wed-Thurs tvN drama Flower of Evil is in its final bloom, just two more episodes left after today’s episode 14. Truth be told the intensity has waned a bit for, lost the luster of the early Is-He-Isn’t-He mystery along with the conviction that Hyun Soo is the smartest of them all. Episode 14 felt like he was human, just like everyone else, smart yes but not necessarily smarter than his nemesis Hee Sung the real accomplice. So now it feels scarier for the characters we care about as Hee Sung (and his enabling parents) can just do whatever they want to take out opponents and get tipped off and plant fake evidence. It’s a little too much but then we need to see Ji Won get tested in her conviction in Hyun Soo and I loved that she has questions, she too has doubts, there is evidence against him, but she still listens to him and hears what he has to say. That’s the payoff of this drama, that even if Hyun Soo has to pay the price (for the fake identity using perhaps), at least it was all worth it. I just hope noona isn’t sacrificed in the process because I love her so much for her unwavering love and belief in her little brother.

  • One of the many things I have loved about this drama is the consistency in the maturity of the couple. The way they communicate even before the veil of DHS was uncovered. After they have started a new phase in their marriage, even when they are fighting. They really have that mature vibe of a 14 year couple. Something I wish to see more in kdramas. You can have angst but not senseless drawn out drama due to lack of communication.

I also dont think the intensity has waned even though we know who the bad guy is. This explains why the rating is going up instead of staying stagnant or decreasing.

  • Oh I love their fighting in this episode. Finally he’s shedding the perfect husband image and showing some true snark and emotions. Although he’s still gentle and loving (which I think is underneath is just essentially who he is), he no longer hides behind the perfect facade in front of her, which is just awesome.
I’m loving this drama, it has the right tone and excitement.

  • I love them as a couple! Even their fight scenes are hilarious! They are so loving and considerate of each other even when they fight. Do Hyun only ever used his snark with his reporter best friend (their conversations are hilarious as well) and on rare occasions with his noona. So to see him turn his snark on his beloved wife means he’s put away all pretense and is comfortable allowing her to see him for who he truly is. Which is at heart, a warm, loving man. I was curious about why Do Hyun never turned out like his father in spite of who his father was, and despite how screwed up the psychologist and townspeople made him. It was because, somewhere in his life, he received a lot of love from his sister, and surprisingly even his serial killing father. His father kept Do Hyun and his noona away from his truly heinous activities. I really want to know why he protected Do Hyun from a scum like Hee Sung. I’m curious about the relationship between master and protege that made Hee Sung kill him. I’m almost convinced that the writer is a sadist for putting me through such agony in Ep 14 as Do Hyun tried so hard to prove his innocence but is constantly foiled by his adoptive family. This drama is only ratcheting up its intensity. Kudos to the writer, cast and crew.
