Viewers have been buzzing over Namgoong Min’s look for the upcoming action revenge drama The Veil (Black Sun) solely on his visuals – he gained what looks like 20 pounds of muscle for the role after undertaking a strict workout routine. He recently shared that after reviewing the script with the PD, he thought the character should be very muscular and imposing, the kind of special forces ops guy who opponents would not want to mess with just by looking at his physique. That makes the betrayal and fall to despair even more improbable. When actors bulk up like this, I always wonder just how much free time and resources they think their characters have. Surely, a special ops agent would be preoccupied with their missions?
Agree. I personally know a now retired special forces guy who had served in missions & wars overseas. Learnt quite a few things from him. One that I can reveal is that he told me not to believe Hollywood movies about sp ops. It depends on a country's criteria on how they select a special op guy. Sometimes it's not all about brawn and muscles like Dwayne Johnson or nightclub bouncers type. Small build ones without bulging muscles are equally lethal and can snuff out a life with ease. Lol.
I prefer his Awaken's style, he was looking so good in this drama. I'm not a fan of bodybuilder style.
