While Netflix is understandably getting all the buzz recently in the K-drama sphere, there remains plenty of quality talent and projects proliferating elsewhere and in 2022 none is more star-studded than the Noh Hee Kyung penned K-drama Our Blues. It’s an omnibus style story intersecting various characters living and returning to Jeju Island. The pairings will be Lee Byung Hun with Shin Mina which I have no problem with in terms of onscreen chemistry or age-difference other than they played older brother-younger sister in one of my fave guilty pleasure early Hallyu dramas Beautiful Days so I’m going to have to do a mind wipe here. Another pairing is Cha Seung Won with Lee Jung Eun, play reunited first loves. And Shin Mina’s real life boyfriend Kim Woo Bin will be paired with Han Ji Min and hooboy I’m majorly looking forward to both the insane height difference and the spark. Last but not least Uhm Jung Hwa will also join the cast because why not, it’s already packed to the gills with A-listers might as well make it a party.

So I don’t have a big issue with the age difference, 51 to 37. Buuuuuut, I do not like the visual pairing of LBH and SMA. To me, he looks every bit his age or older. Kinda like a wax statue. She has a baby face and seems eternally youthful and really vibrant… so I can’t see what her attraction to him would be.
I admit to being totally arbitrary because there are lots of older men who I find very appealing. Shout out to Lee Sun Kyun (for example).
The other pairings are fine- but I probably won’t watch this.
I've alwayz been ambivalent about her. However she is very pretty but she doesn't look that young. She looks in her 30s. So is he. So I don't see a visual problem with the pairing. It looks age appropriate. She's 6 years older.
They would look like ex-high school or college sweethearts.
You are right. Lee Sun Kyun is a very uniquely charismatic ahjusshi. I mean, if it is the like of Jung Woo Sung I get it easily cos he is still very handsome despite his age. Lee Jung Jae and Cha Seung Woon too. However, LSK is not as traditionally as good looking as them, but he has the most appeal to me. Maybe its voice, maybe its his manliness, maybe its his inherent kindness projected outwardly? Just cant pintpoint
Or Yoo Ji Tae. He’s 8 years older. Basically I am discovering I just don’t want to watch LBH in a romantic drama. A list status doesn’t mean much to me as an I viewer.
Well, LBH and SMN were paired as early as in 2005 in the critically acclaimed movie “A Bittersweet Life” - a favorite of mine. It made me chuckle therefore to read these age difference discussion.
I am going to watch regardless of the visuals. After all, an A-lister cast like this is something you rarely get in kdrama these days.
lucky for Han Ji Min in the best of the bunch pairing with Kim Woo Bin. The rest is meh...
HJM-KWB. Bring it on.
Age-wise, I once thought Kim Tae Ri and Lee Byun Hun wouldn't work as far as age difference after all 20 years gap. But once the drama and story started Mr. Sunshine. It did not matter anymore. So hoping it will be the same with Shin Mina. She looks a lot more matured than Kim Tae Ri.
