K-ent is reporting that Lee Jun Young (Jun) has been offered the male lead in the upcoming K-drama Ildangbaek Butler, the role that last month was in talks with Yoon Do Joon but he’s now passed on the offer. The male lead is the titular Ildangbaek Butler, a man who runs errands for a measly 100 won but does the work of 100 people for the price of one basically. I like Hyeri. I really do. But how does she keep landing lead role after lead role when her acting is just not it? It's not like she even brings in ratings. Gumiho and Moonshine were duds.
Meanwhile, some talented actresses are still stuck in supporting roles or playing second fiddles to idols. I bet one of them will probably be the second lead here.
I disagree that My Roommate is a Gumiho and Moonshine were flops. The ratings were average if anything especially compared to dramas billed by supposed expert actors like YAMS and DAYS, Crazy Love etc. Sure they were not raging hot but considering the production cost I believe both delivered. Not every single drama becomes a mega hit.
Disagree with OP all you want. Doesn't change the fact that MRIAG and Moonshine including YAMS and DAYS which you're using as a shield to defend your fave's flops are all flops. ?

Not every single drama becomes a mega hit. Why I believe this…answers the question why she still get a lead role.
Hahahaha...is this how stans defend their fave's flops these days? By diverting attention to other flops and going, “Hey! That flop is bigger than my flop so why are you only picking on my flop? Mine at least got blah blah blah blah blah blah so it's a hit.” This site is so interesting. ?

I agree that MRIAG likely had better ROI. And also, Hyeri gets main roles because she is bankable enough. Her idol background and her variety tv skills give her an edge over casting someone else. She creates buzz and well-liked by the public and while she has a lot of room for improvement, she is not terrible enough to turn off the Korean audience. Dramas have a business component too, which is why we get PPL sometimes crammed in awkwardly.
+ I also don’t find Gumiho and Moonshine excellent so I won’t blame the actors in particular for the average performance of the drama. The director and writer had as much to do with it as the actors as far as I am concerned.
Hyeri is getting roles because of her appeal to Korean audience even though her acting is always criticized but they never resist her charm. But personally I think she's not better than Jo bo ah, Kwon Nara or Go ara who are heavily bashed and Hyeri has enough fanbase to support her despite that she chooses the same roles without diversity. Unlike her, the other three are only criticized regarding their performance decent or not.
No one talking about LJY when most of his dramas are flop. His acting is so so. But he also keeps getting casted more than any other actors (idol actors out there). I saw him twice or thrice in a year. His agency is doing great tho.
