If having no clue what to expect is a good thing then everything about upcoming tvN drama Alchemy of Souls (Korean title Return) fits that bill. I genuinely don’t know what the broader story or even world building construct is like other than souls in reincarnation perhaps and a lot of anachronisms intentionally done. The setting is a fictional historical country of Daeho and where apparently idol-handsome and idol-pretty people live and dress like they are cosplaying at a Goryeo-esque tourist village photo shoot booth. Leads Jung So Min and Lee Jae Wook are treading the line but second leads Minhyun and Arin are so far over it’s kinda cute. Whatever the Hong Sisters have in store, as always I need a few episodes to decide for myself if its my cup of tea.

I really don't get Arin's styling. It doesn't look appealing and seems it was hastily put together. I understand that it's a fusion drama, still this type of setting means more creative freedom to the beauty and wardrobe teams.
Man where'd the wardrobe dept get these costumes? It looks like bad xianxia cosplay 😂
I love her eyeliner. And I like the vibe that the preview pics are giving so far, I'll check this out and fingers crossed it's a good drama :)
The modern hairstyles and hybrid costumes just seem weird. They have Studio Dragon budget and time to get things right.
If I'm not wrong they've been filming since August last year. I love So Min and the teaser. Would be a shame if it derails.
