Kim Nam Gil and Sung Joon are Bringing the Intensity in Character Posters for TVing Demon Fighting Drama Island

I judge character dramas on the design, and these look good, but then mostly on whether the actor or actress behind the character is bringing it. It’s half-brung here for the posters of Island, the upcoming supernatural demon fighting in Jeju K-drama starring Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon, in that two of the leads are totally committed and the other are differing reasons of lulz. Kim Nam Gil slays with just his eyes and charisma, it’s how he went from middling supporting actor for years to breakout ten years ago with Queen Seondeok and since then he’s been stirring the same slow simmer sauce. Sung Joon is the wild card and he’s channeling massive Korean Rurouni Kenshin and totally can steal the show. Cha Eun Woo at least has an expression, every other drama I’ve seen of him he’s playing the “nice, handsome guy reacting to stuff”, and here he looks pretty pissed and ready for battle. Definitely an upgrade but still not very believable (yet). But poor Lee Da Hee’s entire deer in headlights look is concerning if it wasn’t so absurdly bad, between her wae head tilt and those blank wide eyes and slightly open lips it’s a masterclass in how not to pose.
