Even before Jo Byung Gyu‘s bullying scandal he shot to fame in the ensemble cast of Sky Castle and then the lucky break with The Uncanny Counter. All good for him and he worked hard for it but as a male lead he just never appealed to me, but there are lots of actors and actresses I don’t personally connect so that wasn’t anything to dislike about him. After the bullying scandal I feel like The Uncanny Counter 2 had to go on only with him and he fully denied the scandal plus the are mixed reports about whether the accuser retracted the accusations. Anyhoo, K-netizens are mostly meh on him but TUC2 went up in ratings to 5% in the episode 2 so that’s a promising trend. But now comes news that Jo Byung Gyu is in talks to star in tvN sageuk romance Serenade set in a fictional Joseon dynasty where he plays a runaway prince looking for happiness falling for a woman who tries to success in life by helping others fall in love. The drama starts with a divorce petition that cascades from there. We will have to wait and see if K-viewers are ready him being a romantic male lead.
This year 2024 has been a slow year for K-actress Suzy in terms of her…
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…
Well this is an interesting pairing, setting aside the age difference at least I can…
I swear I just wrote about Song Joong Ki having his first baby and then…
At the end of the day, the core of any good drama remains the Story,…

This actor has got to have some good backing for sure who invest in the project. There has never been a better time for a wider range of Actors to choose from due to the diversity in streaming services.
It’s a shame even w/ a scandal, the studio still think he is a better option and take the risk.
Innocent until proven guilty. To be fair, I don't actually know if he is guilty or not. But as long as he hasn't been convicted, he's free to continue to pursue a living and the audience can decide whether to watch him or not. On the flip side, he could be a victim of a targeted smear campaign - if that's the case, should he sit on the sidelines and not be able to feed himself because someone is destroying his reputation?
Was there actual evidence that he bullied someone or this is all based on what one person said? Were there other witnesses or victims? I honestly didn't follow his "scandal", but I believe in innocent until proven guilty. I agree with Koala though that I don't see him being a romantic lead, mostly because he's not my type. I don't find his visuals particularly great or swoon worthy. But I think he's a pretty good actor, especially in season 1 of Uncanny Counter.
I believe innocent til proven guilty.. and unlike some scandala with other celebrity.. the person who claimed to have bullied by Cho byeong kyu was all words and showed no evidence.. a lot of their classmates also stepped out to defend byeong kyu.
I really dont get the "cancel culture" of so. Korea.. they already judge someone just for anonymous claims. And moat of the scandals came to light if the actor/actress is starting to do well in their career..
I am glad that he was able to slowly get back from that nightmare..
I am impressed with his acting in TUC and begin to seaech for past projects.. turned out that he was really good in Hot Stove league, sky castle ,i am paychometric
I really wish him to bounce back from his hiatus almoat 2yeae hiatus..
