Suga of BTS Attends Police Questioning and Releases Handwritten Apology Afterwards

This has become one of the most overwrought reaction level vis-a-vis the degree of severity for the scandal in quite some time and it’s all due to how famous the star is. When news first broke last week of BTS member Suga and his drunk driving arrest on an electric scooter (moped) and his high BAC level at 0.223% it was clear the boy will need to atone in strict Korean society on being irresponsible and potentially putting others at risk. But this week media camped out at the police station after hearing of his arrival for questioning which turned into a fruitless wait as he did not show because the tip off was wrong. But he did show the next day and was questioned for 3 hours (really?) and faced a throng of media and did the usual dog-and-pony contrite and abject reflection pose. Afterwards the next day he released a handwritten letter of apology to his fans and the public as well. I’m sure he’ll get the punishment level commensurate for this offense and hopefully the media and public can move on after.

    • He apology, face the law..no need for more witch hunting. Everyone makes mistake, just learn from them and grow wiser.. no shame in admitting mistakes, it is those that refused to admit mistake and be in denial is immature. I really hope Suga can catch a break.

Suga issue aside, I bet you watched Xiao Zhan's Journey to the South of France for Ralph Lauren Fragrances. He looks so charming...I am trying to understand why there is a delay in releasing even 1 of his projects. Has he not completed any filming?

      • @HL

Don't bring XZ here into this mess

If you want to divert attention from you alcoholic faves use somebody else. He isn't your punching bag.

      • Yeah, I missed him on screen. Luckily we've got several fun vlogs of his Europe trip to quench our thirst for his presence. LOL. I have no idea why each of his works seemed to be delayed for a long while before the premieres. He doesn't seem to be someone coming with strong backing. Perhaps that's the reason. China is a society where ppl accomplish through connections not merits. If he were in SK or the US, with the huge success of The Untamed, his consecutive works would have been released soon after the filming was done.

      • @wTH LMAO what the hell is you yapping about? HL was clearly trying to lighten the mood, but I guess you antis are always in a foul mood with your miserable lives, so you want everyone else to be in angry hater mode too lol

      • There isn't any delay, good projects require more time to produce, especially when plenty of special effects is required. I don't recall seeing any credible sources stating a given date for the release yet, the reason you feel there's a delay is because of those melons released by questionable so-called "insiders".

      • @Lilith, Thanks! I think it is likely due to reading too many rumours around about release dates thus I was puzzled. I really dont have many credible source... I only watch Xiao Zhan's Youtube channel., that is all. Will wait patiently.

Lilith, did you go on any short summer break? It is super hot in Europe...

      • @HL I only went for short trips that last over the weekend but I'll be having a week-long family vacation next month, finally getting to visit Beijing and see the Great Wall and Forbidden City! What about you, any vacation plans?

      • @Lilith, I envy you!!! I want to visit China to see the historical sights, eat some of the traditional breakfasts and visit Chef Wang Gang's new eatery... I enjoy watching Chef Wang Gang Youtube channel.

Btw, there is a tip I give friends. Carry what I call a toilet kit:" a few face masks, anti bacterial spray, soft tissues, surgery gloves, small freezer bags" You will find having this kit useful for travelling, I always have this kit in my handbag. Never know what is behind the door in any toilets 😱 .

You have to plan trip well...hope you have trusted people you know there to help you. My good friend is visiting too...she says the Visa application is so instrusive and annoying to handle 😂.

And you will need to set up mobile payment, get a cheap local pay as you go mobile number, then register for mobile payments.. Cash may not get accepted everywhere. Even street food sellers accept mobile payments. Gov is monitoring cash flow in the Country.

Have a fun trip, do pack a good pair of walking shoes, dress simple, dont wear expensive jewelleries unless you know it is safe...I will plan mine 2-3 years later. Thank you for reading my nags, I am sure you likely know all these. Must be my old age... 🤣

      • @HL Thanks for the tips! I've set up Alipay/WeChat Pay and will be getting an Airalo eSIM, heard it works well and you won't have to get a separate VPN to bypass. I hope the crowds won't be as bad as holiday periods as I hate crowds. If this trip goes well, then I can convince my family to visit more parts of China in future such as Xi'an, Yunnan, Chongqing, Chengdu etc etc.

      • @Lilith, I love Beijing for its museums and some historical sights. I hate crowds too.

I want to visit Xi'an for sights, history, Terra Cotta Army, food.

I love Yunnan for farm stay, visit the ethnic tribes, taste fresh produces, and their regional food.

As for Chengdu, Chef Wang Gang is from there, he have posted afew eateries on his food exploration channel..I like to taste those.

Food and history are my main interest.

        Have fun!!!

  • I'm sick of hearing about this story. I'll summarize the correct info: It's come out that the original CCTV released by jTBC was wrong. He wasn't driving on the street (as claimed), he was driving very slowly. He fell when he made a sharp turn and was never unconscious (as claimed) at any point. He was not driving a moped either, but rather something that really does resemble a kick board with a seat. So basically his original testimony was not a lie.

This is so stupid. Frankly, although I'm a foreigner, I think the police and the news / media people should be embarrassed. This is so over the top and as a US citizen this is something we wouldn't bat an eye at. It feels so forced. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if his alcohol level that's been tossed about but never confirmed is wrong too. Didn't Kim Sae Ron cause an entire district to lose electricity for her DUI? And all I remember her getting was a fine and barely any media scrutiny.

    • Agree, the issue was blown up because he's famous. There is the "What If" or "Possibility" that yes he could have hurt someone, but then we already know that he didn't hurt anyone. Boohoo, big deal, He DID NOT hurt anyone so move on. If this was a random person in Suga's position then this wouldn't even have made it to the news because everyone would go about their day since no one got hurt.

  • During this whole mess I find myself thinking it's very much amusing seeing how his fandom and his group's fandom behave. They were begging and they're still begging for sympathy, empathy, compassion, pity and what else for their idol. They want all good things for their idols but nothing for the idols of others. Humans, huh? Weird creatures.
I know that if any other guy did the same things as Suga did, they all would want to destroy the guy's career and life. They all would work very hard to make sure the guy would never have a peaceful day in his life ever and no chance of career anywhere.
I'm not saying these based on nothing. History is full of the actions done by this group's fandom to ruin others.

    • Are you mentally ok?? Celebs has done worse than Duga snd fid you see Army's gang up to get rid of those people career of them themselves??

And what do you mean the fandom doesn't ask anything for other idols?? Do you know that many BTS fans are also fans of other groups and also why would die hearted Army's asking things for other idols?? Isn't that up to their own fans to do??

And yes it's a fandom job to support and defend their groups/members esp warranted...in times of unfair, unethical, blown out of proportion treatment like this one.

    • "History is full of the action done by this group's fandom to ruin others"

lol that is RICH coming from any kpop fandom, you are all deranged on behalf of your faves and that's based on my observations of kpop fan behaviour on koala's comment sections for many years. Girl groups, boy groups, all of you.

And even if his fans are obnoxious, what has that got to do with JTBC putting out false video claiming it's of Suga? I know kpop has rotted your brain cells but try to use the remaining ones. He deserves punishment according to the law, not a witch hunt.

I said this about Han Sohee earlier this year too, consequences need to be proportional to what the celebrity who is in the wrong actually did, not how much you hate them or what you project on them. Some of you have mental problems with being fans and antis and trust me, it shows.

  • Lmao he is going to get away with it with that high a level of alcohol because he is a man and BTS. Nothing new in this world.

    • What's with y'all always whining about him getting away with it and whatever? He's clearly facing the consequences now, he's facing INTENSE public scrutiny, antis pretending to be fans literally sent funeral wreaths to Hybe just a week ago, demanding that they remove him from BTS, and on top of that, he's now being questioned, isn't he? He also got his license revoked and he was fined.

Again, WHAT MORE DO YOU ALL WANT?

At this point, y'all just want to drive him to sui*cide, I swear 🙄

And let me guess, you're going to reply to me something like, "You're just a rabid fangirl who don't want your oppa to be held accountable!"

Before you or anyone say that to me, yes I'm a fan of Suga and BTS, and I do want him to be held accountable and learn from it. I've never been one of those ARMYs who were downplaying the incident. HOWEVER, like I said, he's being held accountable now, is he? Unless y'all want disproportionately heavier punishment for him? Because at this point, it seems like that's what y'all want

      • Yeah. Those antis and the media really seem to want to drive him to suicide. And this is a man who has acknowleged long ago that he has big mental issues and had suicidal thoughts in the past (he literally talked about it in his latest album again!). But do those ppl care? No. They simply want to destroy his group. They would rather support n@zis than BTS (I'm not forgetting that shirt incident).
No one would bat an eyelid at this kind of mistake from anyone else, but he gets witch-hunted. As someone else said, I wouldn't be surprised if even his alcohol level has been wrongly reported.
JTBC News has been having a bone to pick with BigHit/Hybe for yrs now. They previously broke into their building and started rumors that the BTS members were preparing to sue the company when they and their parents were actually just consulting with outside lawyers about contracts renewal (as Bang Si-hyuk himself told them to do).
Kpop stans and the Korean media have always been absolutely disgusting when it comes to BTS, just bcs the former doesn't want to accept that their faves' current success outside SK and Japan is thanks to BTS, while the latter cannot tolerate that it was the underdogs they had sabotaged and ignored who climbed to the highest heights while their darlings are nowhere to be seen by now. Imagine trying so hard to bring down one of your country's biggest soft-power exports, who are up there with Son Heung-min and Bong Joon-ho, out of pettiness. You'd think they would've realized that they cannot produced "the 2nd BTS" after their yrs of hiatus, when the only artists who could touch their achievements are the members themselves as soloists, but no, they'll not give up.

    • Getting away with what?? Cause he's a BTS member??...lol...Seems we arnt living in the same world...look at all the hate and extreme criticism he's getting even though his offense was wrong...yet wasn't worse than anyone and else in a DUI situation...

Celebs who got into worse ones than his just hot a fine and all was forgotten.. yet because he's BTS Suga and this is the best of an scandal they can get on a member...they make a farce sensationalization out of it...even using blatant lies and false reports....please comeback to reality....

  • Like this has gone beyond ridiculous!!...If anyone really didn't know what happened...they would think he drove at high speed and caused a major accident and or ran over couple people...but nope....He just made a stupid decision and got on his small electric-scooter and drove slowly home a few meters and made a sharpe turn and tripped then got up infront of his house...

Sure he was wrong...the fans know...even he does as that why he accepted the consequences for his actions and apologized multiple times...so punish him for the level of offense....give him his fine...similar to all other citizens and celebrities who even did worse DUI'S in cars, even speeding and hurt others and damaged properties...Yet he did none of those🙄

But nope...it's BTS Suga so the media must stretch this as much as they can to the point the entire Korean Media and police looks like idiots...Did they forgot they killed Parasite Actor over the same media storm which his offense also didn't warrant how they treated him??...

This could have all been solved in one week...but it's was fueled with lies...misinformation and point blank fake CCTV footages from the media to blow it up more....then they call the fans toxic who thinks this treatment is way beyond his offense...and who are now dead on protecting him and also fighting back...

If all this pressure caused him to off himself...what will they say to 90+ million BTS fans across the world??...They need to end this farce on move on...It's amazing that there are serious other issues in Korean society but for two weeks now... only focus on a celeb and his scooter who hurt no one even while wrongly riding intoxicated...Korea is a weird place...now I really understand why the su*ide rate is so high in this judgemental unforgiving for the simplest things society....smh

  • every celebrity every celebrity over there when they screw up always changes their image and cower so intensely to the public in a way that seems so extreme. Never see much of that with American celebrities. I remember a Korean veteran actor mention how a man had to make a press conference just for divorcing his wife and possibly cheating or moving on with his life. Driving while under the influence is never okay and I get that but the over the edge push to grovel to the public in my point of view should not ever be so. But I doubt this will ever change. Yes he should take responsibility and own up to it but man too much expectations over there for celebrities.

    • look at the reaction to Song Joongki getting remarried after a divorce three? four years previously, at which time he hadn't even met his second wife

based on the level of the reactions you'd believe the man personally cheated on all of these commenters vs just marrying his pregnant girlfriend. People actually went around claiming she was a neglectful single mother and spreading pictures of children they claimed were hers (she had no children before marrying him). Honestly insane behaviour and he didn't even do anything wrong, now Suga actually has done something wrong they want him tarred and feathered in public and are making this kind of display.

      • SJK actually got a bulk of the support during the time of their divorce. It was only when he started dating (then eventually marrying) Katey did the waters start shifting. They did not like that he was marrying a non-Korean but if he married a regular korean woman or another celebrity, the reactions would have been a whole lot different. Even till today they don't take digs at him. Its Katey who is targetted. I'm not contradicting you but other high profile actors don't get half the scrutiny he got because their choice of woman matches the public's expectations.

Now, how they're allowed to even have any expectations on someone's choice of spouse is a different story. It's a good thing he doesn't care whatsoever and is living the life he wants.

  • A 3 hours interrogation does seem excessive, but this whole ordeal may very well serve as a lesson so that he will not repeat the same nonsense - he or his fans.

Still, I think it's time they move on; this whole thing is way too insignificant to preoccupy us so long.

  • I am not a Suga or BTS fan and hardly follow them outside of listening to their songs once in a while. But this has become a bit of a witch hunt.

    Is Suga guilty? Hell yeah.

But does he deserve this level hate and all these stones pelted at him? Absolutely not. If he wasn't Suga - a member of BTS, this would have already been wrapped up with the appropriate punishment (whatever that is).
