The currently airing C-drama Love in Nirvana is doing just so-so in streaming on Tencent and isn’t a big shock since leads Allen Ren and Li Lan Di are not by themselves big draws. But then again, summer is done now so expectations should be lower and eyes are now on the next Tencent drama which is going to be The Rise of Ning with Zhang Wan Yi and Ren Min. It’s a bit weird to see Zhang Wan Yi in this drama looking so much like his character in his most recently aired Are You the One with Wang Chu Ran. I really enjoyed that one but it wasn’t the hit that Zhang Wan Yi’s side was looking for but did better for Wang Chu Ran’s career due to her being in a slump period after her debacle with Fireworks of the Heart. It will be interesting to see how The Rise of Ning is received when it premieres next month in October.

I am still traumatized by Ren Min in The Longest Promise. Shiiifuuuu!
I feel like the writing for her character in that drama was terrible. A total wet blanket. There was something about it that kept me going for most of it. Then, it got way past the oversaturation point for FL tears.
I like Ren Min and want her to be in one of those female empowerment costume dramas.
I like both actors, but I also feel like they look too similar to each other. The trailer makes the story seem intriguing though.

had never seen zhang wangyi before are you the one but now i’m a fan. he’s such a talented comedy actor, and from what i understand from those who’ve seen lost you forever, a good dramatic actor too. can’t wait for this to start airing.
