T-ara’s Jiyeon and Baseball Player Husband Hwang Jae Gyun to Divorce After Two Years and She Selects Lawyer/Screenwriter of Good Partner as Her Counsel

Well this is a bit too reel to real, but still a sad bit of news to report. T-ara member Jiyeon (Park Ji Yeon) and her baseball player husband Hwang Jae Gyun have announced they are divorcing after two years of marriage. Her announcement was more generic but his announcement pointed to personality differences, i.e. your standard irreconcilable differences box. She has since wiped her SNS of any traces of him from their wedding pictures to selfies to mentions. She has also hired divorce lawyer Choi Yu Na as her counsel, and she’s been in the news herself in recent months due to writing hit SBS legal drama Good Partner. Wishing the two soon-to-be-divorced a less contentious as possible split.

  • That is so weird so I guess she is so famous in Korea then. I just assumed she was a lawyer turned screen writer. I guess a celebrity lawyer? Not sure I would want my divorce blasted for all to see but I guess it’s a celebrities world. She sure has a bad track record in her relationships. Hope she fares well.

  • This was never going to work ,she was in love with his money and she was just an empty vase (celebrity trophy wife) to him.Luckily there were no kids involved. These shallow marriages never last.

    • Wow, I am just surprised at the audacity of your comment. Did you know Jiyeon personally? Or were you friends with Hwang Jae Gyun? Just where do you get such self-entitlement to freely comment on other people's character.

Jiyeon has been working hard since a young age to support herself. She paid for her dad's new teeth with her own hard-earned money, continued to perform at concerts despite knee synovitis because her terrible company only wanted to squeeze profits over her health, and had to suffer for 10 years because of a narcissistic ex-member. But of course, you wouldn't be interested in these facts.

At such a rough time, I wish you would show more sensitivity and wish them both well, even if that would be asking for too much of an emotional maturity from you.

      • Thank you for your compassionate comment. It was disheartening to hear people cast aspersions.

Both her husband and her started their respective careers around the same time, and she and T-ara were huge before MBK and Hwayoung wrecked the group's hard work and momentum. When T-ara finally left MBK, she looked like she had been through the ringer.

After all that she has been through, I was so happy when she got married and started the next chapter of her life. She had debuted in T-ara when she was 16, so it was like watching a sister or a niece grow up.

Sometimes, love just burns out, and sometimes love doesn't fix everything. I hope her friends are there for her and that the divorce proceedings go smoothly.

    • What a horrible thing to say! Jiyeon worked hard for her lifestyle. She may not be mega rich but certainly doesn't need a man to foot her bills.

  • Dont have to know her personally,he upped her and her families lifestyle, that she happily showed off to the world .He on the other end was showing her off and gladly played the social media couple game with her. This marriage was doomed from the start ,there are no victims here.

    • We probably seeing their close friend here, who knows all about their personal life, their intentions to get marry and to divorce.

    • Get a life! Hating on a celebrity with multiple comments is sign of desperation. You don't know a thing about either one of them personally to be making these misogynistic comments.

    • ...is it that hard to just wish them an amicable divorce like koala did, instead of casting aspersions?

  • Umm, yea that’s an interesting choice. It’s definitely not shaping up to be a quiet divorce with a “celebrity lawyer” put into the mix lol.
