There is a Chinese saying that “when a person is hot, he/she garners controversy” and nowhere is it as evident as with K-actress Go Yoon Jung this past month in Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow part 2 as the female lead. It’s like viewers feel compelled to have diametrically opposite and quite extreme opinions – she’s either woefully bad or the radiant best thing ever for this drama. Neither is true IMO, I loved her season 1 cameo and hoped for more from her even if the entire drama plot was written by gerbils on marijuana but she is unexpectedly less charismatic the more screen time she gets. It’s inversely proportional haha, she is one of those actresses where less is more, at least for now. Anyhoo, this week her agency announced that it was taking legal action against online netizens for malicious comments. Apparently there was a picture of her from high school posted where it was photoshopped and later the real one posted showing the difference. It’s really just that she was edited to look a whole lot darker not sure if it was all that malicious or what the point of it was. Anyways, it still sucks that anyone feels the need to do that at all with her so go forth and stop those mean trolls.

Thankfully I'm not into stan culture. As someone who likes watching kdramas (altough only watch a few each year) this fans, shipping culture more or less irks me. Rather than discussing about plot what I read are a lot of JSM vs GYJ. Or Song Hye Kyo vs Song Joong Ki.
Still can't understand why people can be so obsessed for some celebrities. Moreover, be malicious about it. If you like someone, support him/her/them. No need to bring others down.

And what is even more annoying, if you dare try to neutrally criticize a fictional character played by their stan or the stan's performance itself because it just isn't good in your opinion, they try to beat you down with the "You just want to hate, you hater!" argument. As if acting somehow is a calling that can't be questioned instead of a profession like everything else in this world. Truyl annoying...

I dont know about the plot but she does have wayyyy better chemistry with ljw than the previous actress so i guess that why a lot people like yhe season 2

Not sure your comments help anymore to be honest. I think she's an okay actress; not horrible but also not amazing. I feel that the drama made her out to be a damsel in distress and took out some of her "cool" elements that viewers like us wanted to see again from Season 1. My only concern is how they will tie up the drama in just 2 episodes lol.
What could have been right? An awesome female lead w/ believable great physical fighter too (her backstory and intro was hardcore) but for the rest of the drama the Hongsister box her in a cage & refuse to let her out and make the plot better. What a lost!? I don’t know what the writers were thinking. The memory loss story arch and the reason for the leading lady change was unnecessary since it’s pointless & it’s still BY’s body. I’m not trying to write their story but nothing is explain and fans theories are use to explain many things that happened which is an indication that they set up a world too big they couldn’t manage. It’s disappointing storywise but I do love the LJW and GYJ’s prettiness and chemistry(it’s one of the best in recent years).
Acting wise, she portrayed her character well according to how it’s written. I like that her funny moments were never exaggerated but subtle. She has gotten praises(varies Articles) for every of her recent projects. Her IG are increasing at a rapid & sometimes faster than all of AOS cast. She is doing a fantastic job & any actress only wish they are in her position.
As for these alter photos, I guess the best thing to come out is that GYJ is very pretty even when young. There are more photos released by those who knew her and the close up shows her w/ double eyelids & similar features. I hope they leave her alone. Like it or not she is the next generation of K-leading ladies.
No surprise there. In K-ent, the haters are on different level. It's like the unhappy people who have no life whose purpose on living is to throws hates and always on different scale. They can creates nothing to something nasty from their own fanfictions of hates
A decade ago, they even have anti cafes for artists..something we don't see elsewhere but in SK. Naver, Nate and so on also feels the need to disable the comments due to those nasty comments. Just look at the amount of suicide cases for those artists.. it speaks for itself. The society is not helping at all too with such judgemental society. Definitely not a place I want to live in.
