I love getting a peek into any voting process (let me inside Conclave!) and for the 2025 Baeksang Awards the judges are revealing the votes behind the scenes. For the Best Actor and Best Actress, the most coveted for the acting industry, it was not what I was thinking behind the scenes. Kim Tae Ri was near unanimous in getting all the votes for Jeongyeong: A Star is Born with judges saying she WAS the character and made the drama, without her there would be no show at all. Over at the dudes side, it was a two way fight between Joo Ji Hoon with 6 votes and Park Bo Gum with 3, and in the next round Joo Ji Hoon won with the judges saying he created the character in Trauma Code: Heroes on Call so seamless and perfectly that they can’t imagine another actor playing him. Seems like judges want the idea that an actor and actress is the character to the degree that no one else can play, which means Park Bo Gum having to switch off his character to an older version probably hampered his chances. A few other vote tidbits – When Life Gives You Tangerines was the unanimous vote for Best Drama, and IU had a chance at the Daesang but lost to eventual winner Culinary Class Wars.
