Video Preview for Episode 9 of Spy Myung Wol

I gave the written preview for episode 9 of Spy Myung Wol the benefit of the doubt. I expressed reservations with the plot continuing to veer towards insanity, but I still desperately want this drama to be good and remain wacky but intriguing. But it’s current direction really may not be my cup of tea. I didn’t find the preview scenes funny or interesting at all.

After I watch the entire episode tomorrow I’ll decide if I want to drop this drama. Much as I am loathe to leave something hanging, it’s better that I not rain on the parade of those happy SMW viewers who are enjoying it. Another option is that I continue to recap it but leave my thoughts out of it, but that requires time commitment that I am short on for something I don’t love. So this is just a notice that if there is no SMW recap up tomorrow at the regular time, then it’s not going to be forthcoming.

  1. I, for one, won’t blame you if you do decide to drop this one, because I’m at the same point. This next episode will make it or break it for me. This has become one of those dramas that I want to like more then I actually do.

    • I agree. The first episode I saw was actually episode four, and I was intrigued by its tone – I can’t quite put my finger on what it was, but I keep thinking back to them dancing (even if Eric was wearing sparkly curtains). But now, it’s like what the heck…? Poor Eric and Han Ye-seul, stuck on this crazy train ride.

  2. Thank you for the warning. I would not blame you cause it has gotten off track to me. It’s not even that funny anymore.
BTW: Are you watching Scent of a Woman? I am loving that couple (OTP). I think the week is too long cause I need more episodes now.
    Thank you Ms Koala.

  3. Thanks for recapping this far, koala! I personally enjoy SMW, but if you don’t, I hope you can find a drama you really love to work on. Recaps for a show you love are always the best! 🙂

  4. please koala..!!I’m still watching this drama wantid,I loved the recap of the koala.although the storyline is rather strange and distant preview scenes from the story because it is not funny.maybe in ep 9 we’ll get something that we will not forget this drama.SMW honestly rather play could forget my madness on LTM.But LTM still the best in my opinion ha ha…^^

  5. oh koala,no words can describe how much I love your recaps!
I’m busy with my study before summer holidays come, thus your website is my main option when I wanna know about SMW, but if it’s not your cup of tea anymore, I hope you can find one that makes you happy 🙂
Thanx for you recaps that always make me smile!

  6. I’ve been enjoying this drama so far but gotta say that I am tired of Myung Wol constantly throwing herself at Kang-woo every episode and Kang-woo rejecting her at every turn. Last week’s ending had me hoping that there will be some developments in their relationship or plot but it seems (from the preview) there we are repeating the same cycle again. I hope I am wrong and that the preview is misleading. Hoping that this drama will give me a pleasant surprise this week.

  7. i would definitely understand if you drop it. if it takes a worse turn tonight, i don’t think i’ll be finishing the drama too. i’m crossing my fingers for episode 9.

  8. hi koala unni i miss posting here in your playground. its understandable if you will drop the recap for this but please recap scent of a woman the drama is good, i thought your gonna recap hayate combat butler of park shin ye because most of your recaps are taiwanese drama since you drop hearstrings.

  9. Can’t say I blame you Koala. Episodes 7-8 were fun but the preview for the 9th just made it feel tiring to see the same cycle.

Btw, whatever happened to the other story lines? For example, Kang Woo’s search for the ghost-somebody, NSA agents, the search for this ancient books, etc?

Anyway, how believable would it really get to convince this huge-ego hallyu star to voluntarily surrender himself to North Korea only because of a girl he met for 3 months, not to mention, whom he kept rejecting despite saving his life as many times as he rejected her?

O well… But thanks to you, it was enjoyable to watch dramas.

  10. Hi Koala, I am enjoying this drama but if you aren’t please don’t continue your time to recap. If I learned anything from the Dramabeans/Lie to Me debacle it’s that you all should only be recapping what you yourself are enjoying.

However, you are my by best source for previews. Can you at least provide links to preview translations if you are aware of them?

  11. No Ryu. 🙁 I think this is the first time I can’t bear for the second lead to lose the girl. I think I figured out the reason as well. In all the other dramas, the heroine was not so attracted to the second lead. But I thought it was obvious in episode five, after the hug, that Myung Wol was affected. Her face clearly said that she was unnerved by that hug and felt something.

I don’t know if I want to watch Ryu lose out, or worse–get stuck with that entitled twit.
