One of the reasons King Flower is such an easy watch for me is that I absolutely adore its sountrack. Every song, every instrumental, this drama just hit all my happy nodes with its song selection. Sadly its one of SETTV‘s lower rated Sunday night dramas in recent years so I doubt it’ll get a full OST release. *pouts and makes sad face* Luckily all the songs have been available off the respective albums of all the collaborators, though I’m lazy and do love an easy access to the official OST, not to mention it usually comes with cool goodies from the production company. I don’t always have the same taste in music as my friends or family (my sister loved the Fated to Love You OST but I was strangely repulsed by it, while I loved the Drunken to Love You OST but it didn’t move her) but I do love sharing the songs I love in case there are folks at the Playground who also love it. I also adored the Office Girls OST but it was only Genie Zhou‘s “Free Falling Entity that Wants to Fly” from that album that is the standout rock star.
The less that is said about Miss Rose the better, and even that OST was as middling as the drama was. It wasn’t terrible but it was singularly boring, which should have been a warning beacon of the drama itself. I think the great KF soundtrack owes itself all to Terry. LOL, I’m pretty much going to give credit for anything good in KF to Terry, because let’s not kid ourselves, who else deserves the acclaim? I’ve provided links to download some songs already here (Aaron Yan‘s “Memorial Day” the song for Terry-Liang Yen, S.H.E. “A Woman Like a Girl” the ending theme). Here are the links for the latter introduced subtheme songs – James Wen‘s “Why Bother” which is the song for Guan Jun-Da Hua, and my favorite new song of the bunch Olivia Ong‘s “Don’t Change” which is the song that is for Terry-Da Hua. I rather appreciate the simplicity of how KF doles out the music because it always hits me right in the gut. I actually am obsessed with finding the instrumentals for this drama, I don’t even know any of the names but some of the piano or violin pieces are utterly captivating. Some convey the right sense of melancholy, others are hopeful and charming, and some just match up to Terry’s angst perfectly.
Click here to download “Waiting” by Olivia Ong, the subtheme from King Flower “Don’t Change” is song #9 on the track list.
01.同化 (Becoming the same)
03.不化妝舞會 (No makeup costume ball)
04.我在想 (I’m thinking)
05.幸福記號 (Mark of happiness)
06.對了，我錯了 (Right, I was wrong)
07.大不了 (No big deal)
08.愛夠了 (Love is enought)
09.不變 (Don’t change)
10.守望 (Keeping vigil)
11.Wonderland (Bonus Track)
Jame’s first EP features “Why Bother” as the headlining single and I actually really like this ballad. It suits his style and voice so well but is just totally wasted in King Flower on his Lin Guan Jun character. It would have been utterly perfect if used in My Queen as the theme song for Sung Yun Hao (Leslie). Doesn’t it capture Leslie’s angst and his impossible rock-and-a-hard-place decision? I love Leslie. Until Terry came along, Leslie might’ve been one of the best second male leads ever in a TW-drama. Now Terry owns that role with such a wide gap between number 1 and 2 that I doubt any one will ever top him.

Thank you for doing a post on the soundtrack to King Flower! I am obsessed with Olivia Ong’s song Don’t Change! I mentioned it in previous posts I think haha. Last episode is today right? No more Chris Wu/Terry?? I don’t know how I can handle this.
I take that back. Next week is the last episode. This waiting thing is KILLING ME.
OMO! Yay! Love the music. Thanks for posting!
Aaron’s sensitively rendered song was a perfect fit for Terry.
Wanted to ask this for so long…..but are the total number of episodes not announced beforehand for C / TW dramas…??
Depends. If it’s pre-filmed then the number is set. If its live-filmed then the number can change depending on ratings. Half the dramas are pre-filmed and half are live-filmed in Taiwan.
Thanks a lot 🙂
Miss Rose? Never heard of dat drama. Must not be worth the watch then. Ain’t that true, trotwood? /denial mode
*sniffing at the airport still waiting for the real Yi Chun to show up*
What? Did someone call my name? I am busy making “free Terry” t-shirts and waitng for the “King Flower: The Terry Edition” dvd to come out.
Your patience is sooo commendable. What if Yi Chun’s got an evil twin brother who switched identities? Maybe ‘someone’ should contact the police to look into it?
In the meantime your “Free Terry” slogan reminds me of an old flick title narrating a whale’s journey to liberty which eventually succeed. Despite Chris Wu’s puppy-eyes, SETTV might not give in to the public’s wants to release him from his WTF (not to be mistaken with WWF) situation.
/crazy old agashi mode off
I would totally buy BOTH the t-shirt AND the DVD. Because I’m just that obsessed. Then I can sleep with Terry…as in wear a t-shirt with his face on it to bed hahaha.
i was actually contemplating of having a terry shirt printed. :)if ever it gets pushed through i will post my shirt here.
When I first saw the picture topper to this post, I thought it was Rainie.
I did, too!
Can you please upload another link for the olivia ong song?? I really like it but can’t find it anywhere. 🙂
Why? The link works.
I could download it but I couldn’t open it.
It’s a .rar file. You need to extract it yourself.
how do I do that? I have a mac
Just Google it, you’ll find instructions all over the net as well as the extractor programs. Good luck.
I figured it out. Thank you so much and sorry for the trouble. 🙂
Oh my god. Finally! A website with a list of all the songs I need! I was searching for a solid week. No lie. Thank you so much! By the way, to all you girls (and those few guys *wink wink*) Terry is mine. Just letting you know :).
