Latest Preview for Episode 21 of King Flower

Those of you not watching King Flower bear with me here (LOL, I typed in King Bear first and then wondered if I was dreaming of that Grey Bear going all Ghostbusters on me), and those of you watching join in the last bit of fun discussion since it’s all ending after this week. No more swooning over Terry, no more rolling our eyes at Lin Guan Jun, and no more cursing at the stupidity and denseness of Jin Da Hua. And no more doing drama hoodoo ceremonies to try and resurrect Liang Yen. I’ve noticed that many of the poorly written dramas I’ve loved have suffered a narrative collapse in the second half following the same trajectory (take Lie to Me, Big, Mary Stayed Out All Night) – the writers have no clue how to effectively write the initial concept storyline so instead focus on the OTP and half the characters and plot threads disappear completely. But in those dramas at least the OTP was set (despite some harebrained attempt to kill off the male lead in Mary), but here in KF the writers want to drag out a non-existent love triangle until the end and drive all the viewers bonkers. Even the TW-media is writing about how last week’s episode 20 drove the fans insane and there has been an unending stream of vitriol over the ridiculous stunt Da Hua pulled.

I look around the detritus of TW-dramas and realize there isn’t just Da Hua, there is literally a line of leading lady carcasses where to generate angst and conflict the personality and decision-making skills of leading ladies are thrown to the wolves and she becomes a spineless, idiotic, self-sacrificing crybaby. At least until the end when she suddenly regains her spunk and brain cells right before the grand finale. See Luo Si Yi in Miss Rose, Shen Xing Ren in Office Girls, both female leads in Love Forward, Lin Xiao Ru in Drunken to Love You, and on and on (I can go back to nearly every TW-drama out there). Why so much hate on the ladies, writers? We aren’t all a bunch of silly insecure wishy-washy goose heads. The newest video preview for episode 21 was just released and it’s too good not to share – Terry yells at Da Hua! Well, first he hugs her and tells her that he loves her (sniffles), and then he finally loses his temper with her and boy does it feel good for me to see her get some hard love from him. I love that Terry isn’t a bland nice guy, he’s challenged Lin Guan Jun for being a loser and he’s punched out Qin Mo for being a crazy dude. I hope losing him makes Da Hua finally wake up and appreciate how lucky she is to have him.

Preview for episode 21:

“If we are fated we will meet again.”

Da Hua: The person who did something wrong is me. Why don’t you yell at me?

Terry: Because I love you. I knew you haven’t let Lin Guan Jun go. This is the only way I know how to love you, do you not know that! Otherwise what do you want me to do?!?

Da Hua: I’m not worth you waiting for me.

Qin Mo: Have you contacted Jin Da Hua?

Terry: Nope. If it is fated then we will meet again.

  1. At least she recognizes that she is not worthy of him…i’m barely hanging onto this drama. Sunday cannot come any faster!!
thanks for keeping us posted, Koala!

  2. Sigh. I cannot decide whether or not I want Sunday to come faster or if I want it to come more slowly since when all is said and done we will all have to let Terry go. It seems almost ridiculous how much I have invested in this character who has literally been shoved into the role of Atlas, carrying the world (of this drama) on his slim purple-sweatered shoulders. I am waiting for the “King Flower: The Terry Edition” (make it happen SETTV); I woudl buy multiple copies and give them out as Christmas gifts. Who couldn’t use more Terry in their lives?

One more time for a King Flower discussion, people. I’ll miss you all.

  3. I love your blog …. I go like 5 times a day to see if they have new KF News about … I really want to thank you for all your post and your comments so successful … has been a long journey for 21 episodes, but what I liked is to read everything you say about the drama, somehow you write what I feel and do not know how to express it.

I miss reading about KF on your blog!

    Many Thanks Koala!!!!! 🙂

  4. I’m so glad Terry said he didn’t try contact da hua again and said “if we’re fated we’ll meet again” because I want da hua to know what life feels without terry and I want to see her pine for him for once

  5. Also, I wish that they focused more on ou yang shen, liang yan’s dad, his secretary and office politics to tie up all the loose ends instead of spending the last 3/4 episodes wasted on da hua being incredibly annoying and stupid. I wouldn’t have minded if they went down the “da hua looks exactly like terry’s dead fiance so they can’t be together” trajectory ANYTHING but the past 3 episodes

  6. Agreed! The narrative collapse of the 2nd half was so stupid! Like where did the secretary/cousin story line go? I would have been more interested in office intrigue rather than having Terry take a leave from being CEO and deal with stupid twinsies known as DH and GJ. Not worth your time, Terry, my dear. You should go back to work and find more productive things to do.

  7. And….where the heck did spunky Da Hua go? Her spunky and wild bumpkin attitude was supposed to be a perfect contrast to Liang Yen’s elegant and quiet demeanor. Now we find no reason why Terry should stick around because her personality totally flat lined…. Boo! *Thumbs down

    • I KNOW RIGHT What happend to that fearless and determined da hua that stood up to guan jun and insisted on returning to terry’s side because he needed her… I feel like if Liang yan were still alive it’ll be hard to differentiate the two now sine da hua is so mellow and toned-down now.. omg I don’t understand how they can make da hua so annoying and liang yan so sweet and angelic like… seeing da hua’s mopey expression just annoys me so much now despite the fact that she has the same face as liang yan LOL

  8. Yes DH you are not Worth, please stay away and I hope fate don’t make Terry meet you again, just to make the poor guy suffer. Must have a worth girl for him out there, not this spineless like you.

Ugh. I hate DH, so she throw this love to ”fate” decides for her? until the last moment she won’t go after Terry, fight for him? Pisses me off big time.

But knowing terry he’ll make this fate happens lol

      • really? well, but knowing DH, she will just accept it, no? Isn’t she going to travel far away and terry is going after her or it is going to be coicidence…

      • Well, she’s getting far away to sort out her feelings, get a bit of distance of the entire situation.
As she wrote in her letter, if terry will still have her when se comes back, she wants to get married to him.
I do understand the frustration, but honestly, getting away is the best thing she can do, if she wants an honest relationship in the future.

  9. KF is the first TW-drama I’ve watched since I was a girl watching my mom watch TW-dramas and I’ve been sucked in hook, line, and sinker. Even better, I’ve discovered your blog and delight in reading your thoughts on everything KF. Thanks, Koala!

  10. SIGH……TERRY……..SIGH……….TERRY. That’s all I have really because all I can think about is Terry:)

  11. YESYESYES DING DING DING!!!!!!!!! TERRY YELLED AT HER…in a good way.
Seriously, I have been trying to avoid everything about King Flower and waiting until the last episode is aired…Yeah it’s not working out, but at least there is good news!
Team Terry! woohoo here we go!!!!!!

  12. Finally DH gets the comeuppance she’s been begging for the last few episodes.

I’m just going to really miss Terry and all the ranting we’ve done together.

  13. oh my gosh!! have ya’ll seen any of the bts…the one when liang yen died and terry was cryin so hard, the bts is even more heartbreaking cuz chris wu really could not stop crying.. seriously so many cuteness on the bts now im sad that we only have 1 more ep to go…TERRY don’t go!!!!
