The Interest of Love Ratings Rise with the Cheating as the Drama Keeps All Four Leads Wandering the Same Frustrating Maze of Self-created Complexity

jTBC drama The Interest of Love is well-made, well-acted, but oh so painfully frustrating to watch. And yet I can’t stop, it reminds me of a less toxic What Happened in Bali, or maybe just as toxic depending on the ending to come. There is four more episodes left and last week’s post-kiss episodes got the highest ratings, maybe K-viewers like the cheating or simply that the OTP kiss should have set things into motion. Yet nothing happened until the end of episode 12 and still it’s the kind of happening that looks to make things even more complicated. *headdesk* I love Geum Sae Rok‘s mesmerizing turn as the insecure passive aggressive rich bitch that wants to think she’s a nice girl, Jung Ga Ram embodies the poor guy who is currently at rock bottom loser-dom, Moon Ga Young is radiant and downtrodden but can’t make decisions other than bad ones for the life of me, and Yoo Yeon Seok got everyone into this mess and can’t do more than teeny tiny baby steps to try and get out. I want to bitch slap some sense into all four leads, it DOES NOT NEED TO BE THIS COMPLICATED. No one is married or pregnant so just break up and date whomever you want. With four more episodes left I need to know how this clown car foursome ends.

    • I screamed at the scene when the 2nd fl said about cheating partner and would end up like his friend and i was like “dude, you guys havent even married yet…”

Watching this made me so frustrated, especially the female lead. Girl needs a hard slap on face for being soooooooo inconsistent. And the 2nd ML, sigh… i hate every single character in it. Guilty pleasure indeed. Sigh.

  2. Toxic workplace, toxic conservative society, they should just date but it seems that ” L’enfer c’est les autres = Hell is other people ” .

  3. I was shipping the two leads at the beginning but now I just think everyone needs therapy. This show is a big example on toxic codependency where not one person should be dating the other what so ever. I just cant help but think if the current matchup stays at the end they will traumatize their children with their insecurities. If they do a switch and the cheaters end up together they will also mess up their children with co-dependency issues. its a whole train wreck

  4. Imo the second half is just getting ridiculous at this point. None of the 4 leads acting with common sense already. It’s getting out of hand and super dramatic imo.

  5. i don’t get korean tv production nowadays – both Red Balloon and The Interest of Love seem to glorify cheating, making us sympathize with the cheaters who are “oppressed” by their peers and society

  6. Its so complicated😭 so I stopped watching…and decided once series ends…I ll watch together instead of impatiently waiting for next episode. 😁

    • Same. It is making me too anxious. I will wait until it is over, Google the ending, and if it is one I can be satisfied with, will watch the last 4 episodes on one fell swoope.

  7. “I want to bitch-slap all four leads, it does not need to be this complicated. ” EXACTLY. I would add to tell everyone at the bank TO SHUT UP AND MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS ALREADY. DID WE ASK YOU TO HELP? Nope.

  8. It seems quite clear that our female lead is sacrificing and destroying all her relationships to prevent damage to others and to her male lead. As,a result of her self sacrifice, everyone is miserable. However, if she continued her relationship with the male lead, the most likely outcome could be that they would both lose their jobs. Her self sacrifice may prevent that outcome, but no one is happy!
