So there have been nonstop male lead casting rumors for Pearl Curtain Jade Curtain that the C-drama may break record for the sheet number of actors potentially cast as the male lead. It’s a hot project with female lead Zhao Lu Si signed on after she has three popular idol dramas in a row with Who Rules the World, Love Like the Galaxy, and Hidden Love. So far this week there has been Fan Cheng Cheng, Wang Zi Qi, and Chen Zhe Yuan. Earlier rumored male lead Deng Wei is reportedly still attached to the project and is playing the second male lead. So now the latest news is Yu Shi (Yoshi) as the male lead. Hopefully the final choice will be firmed up soon.
I’m sure Chen Ze Yuan will not be in there because they just did a drama together. They had really good chemistry but I doubt people would pair them up again that soon.
I love Deng Wei and hope he’ll take on lead roles soon. I heard he was offered lead roles in some dramas but he still want to be second lead because he felt that he still need to improve himself first. I like him even more because of that.
As much as I want Lusi to collab with CZY again, it’s not the best idea since they just had HL, it’s too soon for a reunion drama. The same reason I don’t want her to be paired with Wu Lei after LLTG, maybe after 3-5 years, I wish too see WL&ZLS, or ZLS&CZY again. Pairing with other actresses and actors will show how versatile they are, and how they’ll grow as an actor, plus I want to see how their chemistry works with other CP.
Honestly Deng Wei should just take the lead role in an idol drama like this for the exposure and get his team to source for supporting roles in serious dramas and movies /opposite more established actors and actresses to build his craft. He’s not going to learn much from Zhao Lusi and whichever actor that will take on the male lead role.
Doesn’t Yu Shi have some controversies lately? I am not sure if this will affect the project… Wang HeDi will be a nice combo with LuSi 🙂
I wish Deng Wei would be cast as male lead rather than 2nd male lead here.
I would love to see Wang He Di with her too. They would make such a good looking pair.
I’ll be interested in checking out any future drama of ZLS, regardless of who her leading man is. I know none of the new actors mentioned in this blog. It doesn’t matter. LS, similar to Yang Zi, seemed to have good chemistry with whomever she worked with and therefore brought them to greater popularity as long as the script wasn’t crappy.
