The Lost You Forever glow up continues for Deng Wei and he has enjoyed a summer of buzz and now gets his male lead leveling up. He’s just started filming for a xianxia C-drama A Tree in Xian Tai (Xian Tia You Shu) with female lead Xiang Han Zhi. It’s a fresh pairing for sure and I’m excited to see both leads hopefully build on this momentum and add more names to the leading role talk as it’s really the same few names in various pairings in recent years.
This will be a hit for sure! I have faith in Deng Wei! Handsome and a great actor. Never seen the leading lady before! But I bet she will get more famous after this drama

I sort of feel like that with most c-drama actors whom I find stunningly handsome in costume. I think it’s partly because they’re so thin in real life since they often have to be in like 5kg of period costume. I feel the same way with Liu Xue-yi

Same! Deng Wei outshined Dylan Wang. His first role too. I like the girl he is with too, their story was way better than the main! You should check out his magazine shoot. He looks really good in modern clothing. I heard he will be the next ambassador for Dior soon, not so bad for a newcomer!

He is only in the industry for a short period of time and every drama he has improved, better then most that are in there for a decade and hasn’t improved. He is already leading man, some become leading man after a decade some don’t even move up. Deng Wei just has lots of jealous haters. It’s okay, let them hate and watch him succeed!

You are just a hater! He is beyond mediocre, a little fact. Many actors rejected the Tushan Jing role, but Deng Wei acted it to perfection! He loved Tushan Jing more than Tong Hua loved Tushan Jing! His acting shined and won so many fans! His fans are active and it shows. There are so many other artist who has 10 Mils + fans but the interactions are low! His fans are genuine and working hard to support him to keep him on top, he doesn’t have strong backing from/top agency promoting or protecting him! I can foresee him going far! Like I said his acting improves better and better in every drama. His competitor keeps trying to pull him down, just because his character is more popular, saying he can’t act, please he can act!

You need to understand C-ent more, Zhang Linghe is someone that the big bosses at IQiyi bet on to become famous because of his smarts (he was an engineering student and interned to be an aerospace engineer) and height, he was known as a IQiyi crown prince aka someone they try to push as a future liuliang.
Dengwei was different, he has a more underdog route because he did musical theatre at Central Academy of Drama which is a top art uni and was Steven Zhang’s classmate, but got injured and left his course. He then modelled and switched to acting by chance after he passed an audition for Miss The Dragon. His agency only manages him and he wasn’t really vaunted by the industry unlike Zhang Linghe. Last year after LYF wrapped filming paparazzis claimed said he was stuck up at airports (a rumour proven false because they apparently chased him til he hit his head and laughed at him) and Yuzheng latched on to bully him for his attitude so he copped a lot of bad press. All thanks to Lost You Forever and Tushan Jing going viral and being a hit, he has managed to salvage his rep and gain a whole ton (really…. see the crowd at his new drama’s booting ceremony) of fans called Diamonds who feel like they need to protect him because Deng Wei the underdog has nobody else. Dengwei is very lucky imo, if he copped bad press any earlier he may not have gotten the Tushan Jing role, and thanks to LYF he is now a liuliang with a strong fandom.
The moral of the story is that whoever capitalists want to back to get popular won’t always get famous, because the real liuliangs arw always unexpected e.g. Xiaozhan, Wang Yibo, Deng Wei. Have visuals that go down well is key and Zhang Linghe while handsome just lacks a certain X factor or maybe the right role. Chinesee fans also tend to support underdogs like Deng Wei because they feel more organic, but Zhang Linghe will get many opportunities to be ML because he has the right look, even if he isn’t a popular actor he can be the 2nd billing ML lol.

His first mainstream magazine also sold over 20 Mil! He has amazing and rich fans! The name Dimond is so fitting! YuZheng is probably pissed off he can’t use WeiWei’s popularity for his new dramas!
Wang Yibo has one of the strongest backing in cent, wtf are you talking about. There is almost nobody stronger than Yuehua in China. There is nothing weird about his success considering the amount of money that is being pumped into him. Remove that money and let’s see how long he would last.
You may be right about WYB. I read quite a bit of financial news about his agency and have an inkling of why he has such a strong connection in the C filming industry to costar with many big names although I consider his acting not on par with even B-list actors in the C-ent. That being said, he’s nominated for the best supporting actor in a Chinese filming award. LOL. How serious is that award?

The award used to be good but the downfall started last year and repeated this year, when it’s obviously riddled with bought nominations. It brought Yibo only mockery but he is in deep trouble currently so I guess they were desperate enough to do it. The awards are a goner though, reputation down the drain.
@Idkidk, I have no much idea of Chinese drama or movie award. I was kinda surprised at WYB’s nomination. Although he ventured out to movies from dramas, his acting other than in The Untamed did not impress me. At lease in serval dramas I checked out, he was pretty stiff and numb. I just don’t think actor could have quantum leaps in acting chops. But a award is sorta to validate the acting. Maybe he has made a lot of improvement in movies. I don’t have interest to check them out cos those movies have so much CCP propaganda that I’m sick of.

He hasn’t done anything for months now and the only likely thing is that silly mermaid movie so Yuehua is desperate to show anything at all that is positive. It won’t do him much good though because people finally learned he is a bad bet. Bona reports showing both his movie flopped didn’t help.

This FL’s acting in Sunshine By My Side is very bland, perhaps to do with the script, not her fault. That’s the only drama of her I’ve watched so far. I have no more comments on her other than that she’s the rumored gal Wu Lei has been dating. I like her character in SBMS though.
Deng Wei looks on delicate side but not to my liking bcos of his lips and nose look so weird and he’s been marketed to resemble my fave and will be next liuliang topping everyone else. LOL. I personally prefer Zhang Linhe’s visuals to his looks both in costume and modern dramas and prefer Dylan Wang’s acting to his acting in general. Don’t accuse me of making comparison or blah blah blah insinuating negativity in my comment again since I’m not the first one bringing up the comparison in this thread. A DW fangirl rabidly raved him to the galaxy in comparison with other popular actors. LOL. I feel amused so I chime in to give my personal opinion.
Who do you think he resembles? Put Zhang Ling He and him side by side, you can clearly see who looks better! Dylan Wang still needs work on his acting, go watch Miss the Dragon, Daylan had acted in so many dramas before, and Deng Wei just outshined him there.
