Second Female Lead Song Ha Yoon in Marry My Husband Breaks Out with Engaging and Nuanced Performance as the Love to Hate Her Villain

There are so many winners in the success of tvN Mon-Tues drama Marry My Husband but the one who hasn’t gotten much attention prior to this so is having the biggest breakout so to speak is villainous second female lead played by Song Ha Yoon. She’s been in the industry for nearly two decades since she was a child and has more than a dozen dramas and half a dozen movies under her belt in small to supporting roles. But her acting here is getting notice and buzz in a big way with lots of praise. Her villainous costar played by Lee Yi Kyung is also getting praise but he’s broken out long before and viewers know what a great character actor he is already. Those two are making the antagonists of this drama fun to watch and it also helps that their characters are not just one-note bad but feel three dimensional in their desires, wants, and weaknesses.

Second Female Lead Song Ha Yoon in Marry My Husband Breaks Out with Engaging and Nuanced Performance as the Love to Hate Her Villain — 25 Comments

  1. Yeah she nailed her role in this drama, and the styling suits her very well. Tbh there were a few scenes where her gaze captivated me.

  2. She caught my eye first in Fight My Way. She was so angelic there! I’ve always wondered why she wasn’t getting much attention when she’s super pretty and a good actress too. So I’m really glad she’s getting attention now, good for her!

      • SHY is pretty but Lee elijah is a beauty ( Decoy, Chief of staff, …) . I noticed SHY in Fight my way , and watched her in Devilish joy with Choi jin Hyuk but the drama was boring .

  3. Happy for her but netizens have been sleeping on her for so long…She already caught my eye in ‘Fight for my way’ and I couldn’t comprehend for the life of me how this girl failed to land any substantial roles in bigger productions after the drama success…She deserves way better.

    • Too much competition, sometimes for some mysterious reasons ,some get the love of viewers or producers . A good exemple : Han So Hee,…

      • Han so hee is quite one dimensional for now. Theres certain roles that fit her and those that don’t are glaring. But shes a CF darling and investor’s no.1 pick. So its always going to be her for the top roles whether or not she brings in the ratings. So far I only like her in My Name. Didn’t watch World of Married so can’t judge that one but the rest are tanks in my opinion. Nevertheless, Soundtrack #1, Gyeongsang Creatures all not good

      • I think some actresses just have “It”. I don’t see Han So Hee as a top beauty like many people do (just personal preference), but something about her just made me notice her a lot in her days of playing second female lead roles and I rightly predicted she would be a bigger star. I guess that’s what you call the It factor. Other actors and actresses have the looks and talent, but don’t have the It factor to draw people in

      • I don’t get either ! But as Pascal said “Le coeur a ses raisons que la raison ignore “

  4. I read the webtoon and didnt like Sumin one bit in that. But Song Ha Yoon gives alot of depth to Sumin. In the drama, i pity Sumin. While i hope Sumin gets her comeuppance, i also hope she regrets treating Jiwon that way and repent. Thats how Song Ha Yoon makes me feel about the character.

  5. SHY is pretty but Lee elijah is a beauty ( Decoy, Chief of staff, …) . I noticed SHY in Fight my way , and watched her in Devilish joy with Choi jin Hyuk but the drama was boring .

  6. She is so good! She is a very convincing without being over the top. She makes Sumin feel complex and not just a one note villain. I actually find her Sumin despicable, but I’m sure there will be some childhood trauma (because it’s a kdrama) that shaped her personality and behavior. While I dislike Sumin, Song Ha Yoon is really a brilliant actress.

  7. She played the love interest under her first stage name Kim Byul in Jang Geun Suk’s movie Baby and Me. She was so tiny and boyish.

  8. This drama is a win-win for many artistes. I unsure about male lead…his character is still lying low. There are moments but he have not shine in those moments.
Hope the next 6eps, he will have more screen time…He looks more like a supporting cast currently.

  9. Not easy to play her role. She did an impressive job. Surely her counterpart, LYK, a great actor, had great (although negative) chemistry with her to generate those energetic villainous moments. They made me laugh more than hate. LOL

  10. If she’s in her 20s, I can totally see her as Chae Kyung for Goong remake lol. There’s something ordinary about her but she’s undeniably pretty. Even in that age she can still pass as a highschool student. She can still play Chae Kyung haha but that’s far from happening. Nevermind I said that 😆

  11. Based on the roles played order of leads in my opinion
1.Song Ha Yoon 2. Park Min Young 3. Cheater bf 4. Male lead
Order in which they shine and feel important! Male lead character is really carved like a supporting cast character and if we didn’t have him , Chef could have easily taken the role 🙁

  12. In the USA sometimes second leads dominate the scenes they are in. Song Ha Yoon absolutely steals scenes over and over again. From the scene where she threw water and argued with ‘Ji-Won ,’ to the non-verbal gestures she makes when the red panties appear, to the psychological breaks in prison . . . hers is a tour de force. So many wonderful performances by the cast; standouts are difficult to identify when the work is marvelous. Song managed to shine. Congratulations.
