K-netizens Continue to Lavish Accolades and Love on Supporting Leads Lee Yi Kyung and Song Ha Yoon in Marry My Husband as Drama Narrative Starts to Flounder in Final Stretch

So apparently this week’s new episodes of Marry My Husband maybe didn’t exactly drive off a cliff but got scarily close, especially with the arrival of both the crazy ex-fiancee and the Truck of Doom. Haha, really? For a drama that got a lot of love for being refreshing it’s sad to see the narrative turns towards nonsensical reactions and stupid tropes. With that said, K-netiznes continue to LOVE supporting leads Lee Yi Kyung and Song Ha Yoon and a new article explains how their acting is just a consistent shining spot in this drama making their scenes even more satisfying to watch than the leads. Netizens are also calling for these two to win acting awards which is not unlikely but I’m more excited to see their next projects and roles as each levels up from this.

K-netizens Continue to Lavish Accolades and Love on Supporting Leads Lee Yi Kyung and Song Ha Yoon in Marry My Husband as Drama Narrative Starts to Flounder in Final Stretch — 20 Comments

  1. I dont know if anyone has the same problem…I watch this drama on Amzn Eng subs…it is really not a good sub at all. Does anyone know where else provide a better Eng sub?

  2. To be honest, I find the arrival of the crazy ex really old fashion… She is your typical over the top, evil and nasty ex. So Makjang…

  3. Honestly, I’ve not been excited about this drama from the get-go. It’s just that LYK’s antagonistic acting amazed me and his arcs with either PMY or SHY were hilariously juicy. LOL. The romance between the OTP has somehow always looked gloomy to me. The ML’s facial expressions seemed to bode ill. So, he did a good job from that perspective. It’s not a surprise with this turn that may be agonizing for many fans of the drama to like. But I actually think the ill-fated tropes added a bit suspension to the plot that I had felt a bit flat going in all the directions that the heroine and her lover had planned and wished. Now I’m more looking forward to the upcoming eps thanks to the twists and turns.

Speaking of LYK, I really hope he will be offered lead roles in more serious dramas like Children of Nobody. He looked so manly, intelligent, and sexy in that drama, totally opposite to the goofy douchebag joke here. LOL. I had no idea one’s facial expressions, looks, aura, and mannerism can change so much from drama to drama. That amazes me. As to SHY, she’s doing a great job here. But I haven’t watched any other dramas of hers and can’t say she’s that versatile. Some actors and actresses are good antagonists but they don’t have appeals as leading protagonists the other way around.

  4. The character of an ex wasn’t needed and the “accident” neither . Both villains comploting to gain a part of the cake after being manipulated and developing Na In Woo’s character past would have been better ! 12 episodes too .

  5. When she accepted the 2nd FL, I was worried she’ll
Lose steam. She had previously had issues w/ not being paid and haven’t really accepted recent projects. Also, the comic material for her was so crazy out there and very despicable. However, her character actually was more interesting (despite us knowing she was completely evil in the 1st life). The FL being reborn at a time where the cheating hadn’t happened and hence many bad faith happened to her in a way where it’s between she deserved and also u hope she still chose to be better for their friendship. I enjoyed the 2nd leads more too not to say there’s really anything wrong w/ the 2leads.

  6. I stopped watching at ep 10. My sister continued watching it, and I’ll pop up here and there; like what an ex fiance LOL of course, and then the usual truck crash too LOL.

  7. Do you know that crazy ex is played by BoA who used to be extremely popular singer in Japan & Korea 20 years ago? I can barely recognize her face now. Agree that her character is not necessary… she literally takes away the screen times of the second ML & FL. I do not enjoy the ex storyline at all… getting a bit boring now.

    • I read some articles about her doing a cameo as the fiance. When the fiance showed up, I thought the articles were fake news because I couldnt even recognize her! Her mouth is so stiff, I don’t even know why she took on an acting role when she can barely move her face. I thought she was very pretty before. Whatever she did ages her badly.

On top of all that, I think the whole ex storyline is superfluous and doesn’t serve to move the plot forward at all besides create some stupid dramatic events to fill in a few episodes. The way she’s portrayed, she has no depth. Everything about this arc is terrible.

    • Yeah I don’t know how her face changes so much. But actually compared to her peers, I think BoA face didn’t age well. I saw her on a varshow and the casts are similar in age to her, but she looks significantly older

    • No wonder she looked familiar to me. I used to watch her dance along with some SM idol groups like Girls Generation. Agreed she isn’t aging gracefully, prolly bcos of PS? I’m not so much anti the ex-arc since there’s not much going on between the OTP and all the focus had been almost on the 2nd leads’ storyline. The ex gives a reason for more screen time for NIW. LOL.

    • All these ladies are born in 1986 (37 years old)… I think BoA looks the oldest unfortunately. It is amazing how SHY can stay youthful and pretty over all these years. Hope she can be a FL again, her acting is really good.

    • My first thoughts too. I was like man she looks like Boa and my sister was like she IS Boa. Like what? It looks like her but not her LOL. She does give off mean rich vibes haha.

    • I disagree. Both second ML and FL are the attractions of this drama. PMY is just her usual acting self (except having lost more weight now for the role). Without the supporting cast, her performance alone will not give high ratings. People will not tune in to watch her alone. Her previous drama was a big flop. I cannot recall when PMY ever hard carry a drama. She always pair with a more famous ML. This drama ML is relatively unknown so the second ML & FL and their funny storyline is the reason for high ratings. The ex storyline may drag down the ratings I predict because it is not engaging at all. Don’t think PMY can save the ending if that ex continues to take over. As you can read from above comments, some people have already stopped watching.

  8. I am rather disappointed in the latter developments of the drama. It seemed to me that the drama had great source material (the manhwa). I understand not staying faithful to the story, if the deviations successfully enrich the story (adding interesting complexity to characters, building on interesting themes). However, in this case, it felt like the story was changed mostly in order to shove in the usual kdrama tropes culminating in that ridiculous arc with the evil ex and the truck of doom. Worse yet, the second leads appear to be increasingly sympathetically portrayed because they are quite popular with the viewers. I won´t be surprised if they end up redeemed in some way. Just Ugh…
