Queen of Tears Episode 3 Rises to 9.594% as the Story Continues to Unveil Emotional Layers and Dangerous Intrigue

So I’ll use the big romance drama hit of the last few years Crash Landing on You for comparison since it’s written by the same screenwriter Park Ji Eun as currently airing tvN drama Queen of Tears. Today’s episode 3 hit 9.594% ratings and Crash didn’t break 9% until episode 6, so this gives a glimpse of the runway to come. I am so in love and addicted to this drama it’s not even funny, it’s so rich the tapestry that is woven already and being disassembled and hopefully patched together again. Hae In could be mildly on the spectrum because she is clearly able to have feelings but she has trouble expressing it directly at times. The flashbacks are brilliantly done showing us the before and current with cute vignettes and then breaking our hearts that the moment before Hae In thinks she’s going to die she remembers eating a popsicle with Hyun Woo and him still thinking she’s poor and he’s ready to take care of her. Her thirsting after her hottie husband is a stand-in for all the ladies lol. Hyun Woo may have been ready to divorce her but he was more ready to divorce being with her entire family and once it’s just the two of them you can see he is still unable to not have feelings for her. It’s also clear Grandpa’s Camilla has probably been playing the long con that led to eldest son’s expulsion and even doofus brother’s wife is not the doting sweetie act she puts on. I can’t wait to watch this drama step by step seeing everything unfold.

  1. Without saying I disliked it, I was a little worried with ep. 3 introducing a serial killer kind of character (dog killer, at least). So many good kdramas of late have been sidetracked by serial killers! Let’s hope this one will not go the same way.

  2. Baek Hyun Woo is such an asshole right now. I’m interesting how writer will make him a good and loving husband, and will make me believe in this 😄 If she succeeds, I will be impressed.

  3. I can’t quite remember the last drama we’ve had where every single actor can act and act really really well. Everyone’s just killing it, no matter how small or big the role is? It’s absolutely a treat.

Park Sung Hoon is goosebumps inducing in just how creepy he is. I have not seen The Glory (or any other drama he’s been on), so I don’t even have an impression going in. But the way he’s able to go from nice guy to psychopath in the matter or a second is just so scary.

The PDs of the drama are doing such a brilliant job with the cinematography – every shot is so freakin beautiful – but also, they are directing this drama is such a hilarious fashion in every small detail. Hyun Woo’s open fish eye, hands in the air, *shocked* at being kissed? 🤣🤣 Homage to the old Candy PSH anyone? It is *especially* hilarious with the double whammmy of knowing just how well KSH kisses and PSH herself kissing so well in Dr Slump’s episode (which overlaps in air time). Take a bow, show!

    • Park Sung Hoon don’t disappoint , for noticing him since the weekend drama ” My only one”, i can say that he can play both ,the sweetest , dorky guy or the psychopath brilliantly . “Not others ” and “Into the ring” the sweet guy in Psychopath diary the creepy serial killer . I fall in love this drama and i never watched “Crash landing on you ” ! I’d like to say that actress Kim Mam Joo is doing “again” a great job in Wonderful world and even if i never was into CEW , i must say that his role is helping him . Challenging himself and working with a great actress does a lot when one young idol actor really wants to learn acting .

  4. The actors are great, very pretty and can certainly act. The director seems to be doing a good job as well but somehow the story hasnt grabbed me yet. i just couldn’t connect with the characters. Will probably try another few episodes to see if things improve before deciding whether to drop this.

  5. This drama is so freakin additive. New crack alert for me. It’s been a whileeeeee. this writer always writes the most addictive dramas. MLFTS, LOBS, Producer (the umbrella couple alone was enough to have me live watch it during my uni lectures!), CLOY and now QOT. What a resume!!!

KSH was in a variety show recently and talked about the pressure of being such a superstar at such a young age. It was endearing to watch him speak so candidly about the internal struggles he faced that we all had no idea about. I’m so glad he’s hopefully in a place now where he can accept the compliments, love and praises everyone showers him with. He’s so brilliant here and so is everyone else. I hope this does wonders for not only the leads, but also the very talented supporting cast. Everyone’s marvellous!

  6. Can’t wait for them to unpack the layers so we can see why they fell apart in 3 years time, since it seems like they actually enjoy each other’s company and personalities. Obviously the big, unforgiving chabeol family was/is a major problem, but what specificallyyyyy? I’m starting to really understand that it is actually possible to “fall out of love” or choose not to love someone anymore by reading and watching so many real life testimonies from real life women lol, so I need to know what specifically happened to them for them to resent each other so much to the point where Kim Soohyun’s character wants her dead. Lol. 30 to 100 is crazy 😂

    • without giving spoilers for episode 4, there’s only one reason I even thought was possible for a relationship like theirs (genuinely in love, no one was tricked into it and it’s not a marriage of convenience) to fall apart so fast after their marriage and in their case it wasn’t even clear whether it was a possibility….turns out it is.

      • Eeeeeeeee!! As ridiculous as all of it is, their acting is top tier selling this story! After Ep 4, I’m starting to hold my breath less and just trying to enjoy the ride. Although, I will say, there is only ONE ending I’ll be satisfied with. Haha.

      • their chemistry is everything, I can’t think of any other actors who could pull off portraying such a cold relationship while also making me ship them so hard.
and yeah there’s only ONE ending I will be satisfied with too! Prayer circle to not kill off Hong Haein please!

  7. Omg just watched the 4th episode, this drama got me hook line and sinker! It made me laugh and giggle and scared and it even made me sob in tears waaah! So goood both of them!

  8. This episode was ROFL hilarious. There are so many highlights like HW assuming HI wears clothes that have holes on them because she’s poor (LOL), Aunt thirsting for HW (she’s way too cool) and HI calling Hyunwoo sexy dynamite (LMFAO). This drama is so good at keeping things light despite the ticking bomb.

    • lol the ‘assuming she’s poor because wearing holey vintage clothes’ is something that happened to me irl so strange as it is to say, I can relate to this chaebol character lololol

I love crazy auntie too, she seems to have a good heart or at least be honest about herself. HI thirsting over HW and going ‘yeah I only think that because of my terminal illness’ lmaoooo and then we find out why their relationship fell apart and I kinda cried a little. This drama is really, really good at balancing things well but I’m going to hate it if HI dies!!

  9. Love the casting and the general
plot but I’m not a fan of the tone, particularly the scripting and staging of the main characters interactions.

They act way too awkward around each other to believably play a married couple. Even for a couple in conflict, their interactions with each other seem much too distant. It feels like someone who has never been married writing about an estranged couple.

  10. Can’t wait to catch up this series after I finish and clear some others from my plate. Glad I skipped Koala’s post without reading spoilers. 😉
