Production of Queen of Tears Already Earned Profit on Drama and Credits it Solely to Kim Soo Hyun Taking a Massive Pay Cut to Reunite with Screenwriter Park Ji Eun

K-actor Kim Soo Hyun has the been highest paid actor in K-drama land for the last decade since back-to-back breakouts with The Moon Embraces the Sun followed by You From Another Star. Last month there was a news article that he set a new record with 800 million won per episode for Queen of Tears but his agency denied that. The prior record was his 500 million won per episode for It’s Okay to Not be Okay and the same for One Fine Day. But this week a new article reveals he took a massive pay cut down to 300 million won per episode for Queen of Tears in order to work with screenwriter Park Ji Eun and make this drama budget work. QoT reportedly cost 54 billion won and production has revealed that it’s already made 65 billion won to day, recouping cost and making a profit with the drama not yet done airing and plenty of leg room for more sales. The production credits Kim Soo Hyun agreeing to take a much lower than usual salary in order to make this drama profitable, if he was paid 800 million won per episode the drama would still be in the red right now. I love hearing about his heart and being savvy with his career, sometimes you win bigger by taking a smaller slice so there is more to go around.

Production of Queen of Tears Already Earned Profit on Drama and Credits it Solely to Kim Soo Hyun Taking a Massive Pay Cut to Reunite with Screenwriter Park Ji Eun — 99 Comments

  1. Koala, did you check the math? Did QoT cost for 54 million won or 54 billion won? 54 million doesn’t make sense! LOL. Typo?

    • Yes, it must be billion, or maybe 54 million dollars. 300 million, even if it’s a pay cut, it means almost 5 billion (assuming it’s 16 episodes…) just for the lead actor.

    • Does anyone have figures for how much profit CLOY made? Just to get an idea of the standard/previous profits from a similar big budget drama from the same team.

      • To be Frank, this whole mediaplay from his agency about his salary needs to stop. I remember this new got “leaked” to the media during the kim saeron scandal so pretty sure his agency did it to deflect by first spreading the 800mil rumour & then getting studio dragon to debunk & earn goodwill.
Every single time for a new projectwe hear about his salary but it doesn’t happen for any of the other top actors who I am pretty sure must be earning equal or more. it’s getting tiring now & will bring him more hate especially in today’s times when womens pay disparity is being talked widely. & On that note absolutely agree Kim Jiwon needs to be be paid equal or slightly less but again that won’t be the case here for sure, not that it’s KSH’s fault though.
I just wish his agency can find something else to promote him rather than this salary articles which just don’t show him in a good light especially so in this case where it’s obvious he must have negotiated BTS to get a cut in profits.

      • I am sorry again I do not know why it came as a reply to u, I wanted to post it as an independent post

      • @bn, everything you wrote here is YOUR assumption. Journalists write about all top actors’ salaries and when you’re as big as KSH, more media is going to pick up on it. YOU’RE pretty sure his agency leaked the news and then got Studio Dragon to deny, are you writing a fanfic or something? And it’s obvious he negotiated a cut of the profits? Were you in the room when this was discussed? How is it obvious? I know all the recent hype about KSH is making fans of other actors uncomfortable but the drama will end this week. Just bear with it for a bit longer. It will soon pass.

      • @bn – it’s been known for years now that KSH the highest paid kdrama actor.

He has been since at least 2021, and this is reported because he was the name used as the benchmark of salaries in an article about someone else who was getting acting offers and was reportedly being offered as much in fees as KSH at the time (this person did not take up acting or accept any roles). Not sure where you’re getting the conspiracy theories about other actors and his agency from though.

I’m a KJW fan and of course want her to do well and be successful but if KSH was paid more for this drama, I don’t have a problem with it as long as the difference isn’t too huge. His fee is as much for his star power as for his skills. But of course I hope she gets higher pay going forward, anyway that’s not the fault of KSH as you acknowledged.

      • @BN

Actually, Park Eun Bin and Lee Jung Jae are two other top actors who had a very similar news article come out relating pay. It happens when an actor is the talk of town. It is what it is and none of these 3 want it. Their agencies don’t want it. Their fans don’t want it. The media wants it so again, it is what it is.

      • @BN adding to @Butterfly, Song Joong Ki, Lee Min Ho and Song Hye Kyo also got revealed their salary for Vincenzo, Pachinko and The Glory

      • yeah and years ago Park Boyoung also had articles come out about how her salary for Oh My Ghostess (2015) was the highest salary ever paid to an actor for a cable drama at the time.

  2. I would be surprised if he didn’t negotiate for a cut of the profits, which might just get him more than if he had stuck to his original 500m won/ep given how well the show has done. This is a pretty common practice amongst many top stars isn’t it?

    • I agree with you, that he may have negotiated a percentage of the profit instead of being paid his full market rate, and it is a common practice by leading men in entertainment, especially when production doesn’t have the initial budget to pay the lead actor outright.

A lot of noise marketing is being made about KSH salary, but I’m more interested in what the lead actress is making and what the discrepancies is between their salaries. I bet production will keep mum on that in order not to start any controversies, but they are equally pulling their weights with this drama. She should be paid commensurate to his, even though not the same rate, but close, if life was fair.

  3. I think 800 million won is just rumor. 500 million won to 300 million won is make more sense. But this is not his first time cut off his fee for PJE, he did the same thing for “The Producer”

  4. Based on those figures, QOT would still have broken even/made a profit even if his fee was 800 million won per ep instead of 300 million, just a smaller profit of 3-4 billion won instead of 12 billion (unless promotional costs – which are not usually included in the production budget- were several billion won?)

and based on the drama, he’s absolutely worth his fee for the skills alone. Any other actors in the lead roles and I’d have quit in frustration after episode 14.

  5. I don’t know what he was really paid in the end, but whatever it was, it wasn’t enough because my god he has been breathtaking here.

Still, I am thankful he took the cut to do this drama, believed in it enough to stick with it throughout the different changes made. This comeback was worth the 3yr wait and looking back, despite the incredible successes he’s already had, this is one of the best decisions of his career. Him and PJE make the best team and I give zero fs what anyone says. Looking forward to their eventual reunion in a few years. They bring the best out of each other and I’m glad to just be in for the ride.

    • Maybe KSH will work with KES soon is my guess. There was a popular few wks ago that got over 400 comments wanting it to happen. If it ever came to a choice I think KSH would still pick PJE over KES really. He seems to trust her immensely and he seems like very loyal type.

I want him in a sageuk so I am ok with either or anyone who writes a great enough one for him haha.

      • Oh KES? It’s a bit odd that she hasn’t worked with him yet given they have been top writer/ a-lister simultaneously for a long time. Interesting… And hmmm, I def buy the argument that if he can just do one, PJE would still be his obv choice. They’re close, but more than that, they bring out the best from each other. If he does work with KES, I hope it’s more of her serious fares like Mr Sunshine/The Glory. Her rom coms are pretty hit and miss to me. I haven’t seen Glory but heard great things about it at least.

  6. It goes to show that you can’t really demand that much $. Production would be scared to hired you. I suppose he could afford it not to do so much project.

  7. There’s a “refund KSH” drive amongst netizens
    LOL
I have to concur – but he’s going to earn it back in the many endorsements that will come I’m sure
Plus I have a feeling it will take him a while to come back to rom com – he often interchanges his projects and we can get the next 1-2 won’t be the same.
Honestly I’m ok with that – he NEEDS to do another saeguk honestly! Do a big budget one – It will be a blast.

    • More than anything I want a break from romance dramas. I m sorry. I NEED a break from shippers. Looks like he can’t catch a break from
      Rabid shippers.
I will more than happy with dramas/movies with no love lines for few of his upcoming projects.

      • Based on your ID, I can understand why you want him to catch a break from shippers. Hard to compete with the current shippers.

      • @Sissy , I can’t see a reply button on ur post do posting here. I don’t know why you mention based on my id why I would hate shippers? What does mm stand for? I don’t have a username or id here. I just give name, email while posting and too lazy to think of a name. My name starts with m do I write mm , mp whatever makes it easy.
But I have it a thought as to what u meant.. do u mean IOTNbO couple as mm perhaps?
Then let me tell you I didn’t think I could hate any shippers more than that show shippers. But the present shippers r almost there.

    • Agreed on the sageuk! Yes please so much. Or a period drama. He looks practically locked in for Knock Off, so after that a sageuk would be amazing. Personally, I prefer an epic romance sageuk in the lines of My Dearest or Princess Man – the PD of this drama is actually the Knock Off PD too. But anyway high time for him to get back to his period garb. It’s been forever!

    • Everyone wants him to do a sageuk! Ah, I wish he doesnt accept the new drama and does a sageuk instead. I am ok to wait longer for him too if there are no good scripted sageuks in the market. His fans are patient.

Lee Hwon is legendary even if he was so young when he played him. KSH today, ah, I cant imagine how charismatic he would be really. I feel tingly even only thinking about it

  8. Anyone seen the latest bts video? The way Hyun Woo’s knees gave up after the car crash scene was Soo Hyun’s idea. He asked Ji Won if she would be comfortable if he collapsed and kneeled beside her and she was okay with it. That scene wouldn’t be nearly as powerful if he had just hugged her and cried in relief. Also the “she’s not like that to me” in Episode 9 was an adlib when Hae In smacked her brother for wanting bottle water. He is a brilliant actor and worth very million won he is getting.

    • I just commented on that!! He is crazy good?? I feel I wasted my older teen years not being a huge KSH fan. I missed living in that hype bubble but at least there is now and i am experiencing it so i am thankful

  9. He is amongst the most career savvy actors in the industry. He picks a variety of different roles, has no qualms about squashing his “cool” image. He doesn’t mind working with new writers if he believes in their scripts. In fact, Park JiEun herself was just weekend drama writer before Kim SoonHyun decided to do a rom com with her. He was the biggest name in the industry back then too, winning a Baeksang and coming off a massive 40%+ rated drama, debut movie selling over 11M tickets, then leading a movie by himself with 8M tickets.

Kim SooHyun must’ve truly wanted to play Baek HyunWoo to allow such a large cut. Or… he knew it would be a huge drama and that he can make that difference easily with CFs alone. Or… he is very close with the writer and loyal too. Whatever the case, he is a smart cookie who knows how to handle his career. He has been at the top since 2012 with hardly any blips to speak of. He even took an almost 5 year break for bowling and military LOL. And it impacted Kim SooHyun absolutely not which in hindsight is rather incredible.

  10. KSH gained from Tears as much as Tears gained from him. He is at the pinnacle and no one can even touch his spot. The nation fully acknowledges just how great an actor he is. He is so HOT right now, so much so that he will likely get even more than the 800B Won for his next drama. But I dont really care how much he makes or anyone makes. I am here for the work of which is does an incredible job.

Bts was released and KSH was the one who suggested Hyunwoo fall to his knees in that accident scene. It was not in the script which I cannot believe. That was the moment everyone kept talking about in the initial broadcast actually. The moment where we knew Haein made the decision to live for Hyunwoos sake.

PJE said that the reason she chose to work with KSH again was because he puts in a lot of hard work and researches for his characters and that he’s the best. I thought that comment meant he works hard and puts his 110% on set or something of the like.

But recently I went back to rediscover the KSH I missed in his 20s. His EunWi PD said that he writes down detailed notes of his characters, facial expressions, gestures, quirks, etc. And now going back to Tears, I realized how well he knows Hyunwoo to the point where he can adlib adhoc. Ofc the character itself is based off a script but he built Hyunwoo to be the person he is.

Its amazing and fascinating and the more I get to know KSH, the more I start to admire him. Tears made me a core fan really. I have so much respect for someone who is so innately talented at their job and still puts their life and soul into being better at it. In life, its a very attractive trait. As an actor, we are fortunate enough to see it come to life.

    • Love this ❤️

Another great moment in the BTS was BHW moving HHI’s hair in the cathedral + dragging the ICU door then continuing with the breakdown after she was taken to surgery. Professionalism is so sexy to me.

    • Just curios on what drama EunWi is? Moon Embracing Sun, or Giant maybe? Never heard of that nickname before…

Second you on all your words. He is so dedicated and it shows in the behind footage. So glad he is not a method actor since the type of scenes he has to do is too intense.

      • Sorry I dont know why I wrote the Korean name, its Secretly Greatly or Covertness? With Lee Hyunwoo, Park Kiwoong and Son Hyunjoo

      • EunWi is Secretly, Greatly (2013 movie)
Korean title is 은밀하게 위대하게 Eunmilhage Widaehage

      • Thanks Mel, koko

I did not see it yet, but it’s on my watch list for a bit now. Will check it out.

  11. I hope Kim Ji Won got paid plenty too. I’m assuming much less, but she deserves a ‘refund KJW’ movement and many well paid CFs!

  12. Smart man!
His acting prowess was in full display this last weekend. I’m a believer!
Looking forward to seeing him in a very funny rom-com drama for a complete 180 from QoT.

  13. Off topic but I wanted to talk about Byun Woo seok, he seems to be getting lots of popularity nowadays. I guess he is the new IT guy. Also he has already been to military which is a plus for him. So, I guess this is gonna affect actors like Song Kang and Nam Joo Hyuk. They all seem to have the same vibe.

    • nam joo hyuk is well-established and sought after, so he’ll be fine. but song kang’s IT boy status is definitely in jeopardy right now. not a big deal though, since he’ll be out of the limelight for a year and a half.

byeon wooseok’s popularity has exploded since the premiere of lovely runner. he was gaining 100k+ new instagram followers every day, and has accumulated more than a million new followers since the start of lovely runner. i hope he’s able to translate this popularity to better opportunities bc he’s seriously very talented. i can see him emerging as a dark horse in his age group if he picks the right scripts from here on out.

  14. Good for the production team. I think QOT is just above average in most of its aspects other than having a flawed script, though I can see why it is so successful. But if I’m being honest, I’ve always been somewhat on the fence about KSH. My personal opinion of him is that he has some very good acting moments, but otherwise he comes across as slightly monotonous and rather similar in several of his roles. Maybe it’s his speaking tone. Before people come to bark at me, this is just my long-time opinion, I’m not trying to be a hater or even slightly negative here. Most of his endeavours have been successful and I respect him, but him being the highest paid drama actor in the whole industry? I think that has always made me subconsciously expect top-tier performances from him, which tends to leave me underwhelmed. He’s good at what he does but I never saw him as a top-tier actor.

    • I do think the hype about his salary as a marketing technique is a tad overblown. Top-tier acting by its very definition is very subjective to judge, as there is no standard way to measure an actors performance that everyone agrees on, so we can debate it until we are blue in the face. Is he the best at what he does in the industry? That’s also debatable.

I love KSH’s acting, but I would argue that Ji Sung is probably a better actor than him, takes more diverse roles, is more experienced but has much less hype surrounding him. In terms of talent and experience I could probably say the same thing about Gong Yoo and other seasoned actors. But I’m not here to compare actors performances. I’m here to enjoy the hype surrounding KSH’s work for what it is. He is an excellent actor who is able to embody the characters he plays and I’ve enjoyed his performances in all the work that I’ve seen him do since Dream High. And if the noise marketing about his pay works to reel in more viewers, since everyone would be curious about the hype surrounding his work, more power to him.

    • Rabid fans already had pile-on over me against my criticism of QoT that I wasn’t even critical of KSH’s acting but mainly had qualms about the script and the directing. They can’t tolerate tidbits of negative reviews of their idol’s dramas. LOL.

I used to be a huge fan of KSH during The Moon Embraces the Sun and the Producer. But I was impressed more by his leading ladies in other dramas including My Love from the Star. I’m rewatching MLFTS and still found JJH more impressive than KSH in that drama. As I watched more K dramas knowing more veteran actors, KSH has gradually lost his magic spells on me as his huge fangirl LOL. He’s still a talented actor. But I don’t think he’s on the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) level yet. He’s still got a lot of room to improve by taking more versatile roles in more diverse genres.

I would never consider my fave the best of all without need to improve his performance. I don’t get all the overreactions from rabid fans to sincere critiques of his dramas or acting. Many actors are very humble to take negative reviews seriously so that they can keep advancing their performing skills. I don’t think KSH would take unfavorable reviews offensive as quite a few of rabid fans did on this site.

      • I actually also have a lot to say about the writing/pacing in QOT but I’m refraining from commenting further in case I invite the rabid fans lol. The thing with KSH is like you, I used to follow him during his streak of TMETS, Secretly Greatly and MLFTS and thought he was the most promising of his generation. But it’s been ten years, he’s now in his mid-thirties and while still young, he’s still in the ‘good but never wowed me’ category and I feel to some extent that I’m watching different versions of KSH instead of separate characters. Given how selective he is, plus having that ‘highest paid actor’ tag, I’m a bit underwhelmed by his career choices and diversity of roles tbh.

      • All good points. I like objective and intelligent arguments even though they go against mainstream opinions. It hasn’t escaped my notice that ever since the late Sulli’s fiasco in the movie Real with KSH where the k-netizens eviscerated her performance and his, that he has consistently chosen top-tier, bankable leading actresses to work with, which would naturally enhance his performance. Not to say that he didn’t do that before the movie, but it now appears as a conscious choice. Just imagine Queen of Tears with a less talented or bankable actress, many of the audience would have deserted the drama by now with its shaky makjang type script. So when his rabid fans praise his performance to the skies, they should take into account that it is not his performance alone that brings in the appeal, not taking anything away from his talented, dedicated and detail oriented performance, but to also give credit to the other factors that allow him to shine as much as he does. Personally, I would like him to take more risks with his career, but that is my opinion only. It’s okay if he wants to star in blockbusters every few years, then ghost the drama industry when he’s not active or shooting CFs, so long as he is satisfied, that’s what’s important.

      • @Somebody I keep coming across your comments on Koala’s QOT posts and in fact I think you’re more rabid than KSH fans about your vehement dislike for this drama which you harp on every.single.post. I mean I get it, QOT isn’t perfect. But it’s weird you hanging around the QOT comment sections if you hate it so much? Lol. And I’ve not seen anyone attack you for your inane commentaries btw. In fact yours stand out like a sore thumb because no one barely interacts with it 😂 Stop playing the victim and hating on people who like this drama. You’re not special just because you don’t like QOT 😄

      • @Liesel, LOL. I don’t deny that I dislike QoT to the bone. Therefore, I’m motivated to knock some sense into delusional fans that they aren’t the only creatures watching the drama but there’re others just don’t get into what they like. Ppl didn’t directly reply to my comments but they did insinuated with sarcasm and name calling such as jackshit and asses that I had never used in my critiques of QoT to obviously reference my comments. I only responded to them cos of their name calling and gaslighting went overboard. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have bothered to give them shit attention. There are so many comments about this drama. But it’s so hilarious that you’re only obsessed with my opinions. LMAO. I don’t have to time nor care to argue against those who differ from me but only responded to those who obviously gaslighted me with obnoxious name calling as mentioned before.

Ppl who praise QoT to the galaxy don’t like my comments cos they are sharp and honest. But those who share similar assessment about the drama to mine appreciate and echoed what I said.

It’s so obnoxious for arrogant fans like you to snub those who have watched but dislike QoT and intimidate us from voicing our opinions.

Who are playing a victim? Your comment is so toxic! Why don’t you go tell those who’re lunatic about Qot to tone down cos there are many of such fans in these threads rambling compliments everywhere with more comments than mine? Instead, you are gaslighting ppl like me with different opinions from you and told me to shut up. LMAO. Am I talking to a fascist or a communist?

      • @Liesel, Oh I just noticed you made a moronic but hilarious remark that I stand out like a sore thumb cos no one barely interacts with my comments. LMAO. What self-contradictory gibberish you’re bitching! Just look at this thread where ppl responded including you LOL. And this is just one of many threads with my opinions where ppl took interest to participate in the discussions. Did you really have any idea what you were talking about? LOL. QoT lunatic fans are getting butthurt cos you can’t let go off your huge ego to just accept that there are many other drama fans who just don’t appreciate your gem in your eyes. LOL. So, you used the most foolish tactic to argue – no substance in your points but to attack those who you disagree with. So shallow! SMH!

      • @Xoxo, you have obviously known more of KSH’s works and better than I do. The Moon Embraces the Sun was my first drama of KSH and I instantly became a huge fan of him. I started to follow his subsequent dramas but as I said, was more impressed by his leading actresses and somehow his charisma went diluted. I had a high hope for his comeback with QoT. To my great disappointment, the script and the directing aren’t up my alley and the acting that fans rave about couldn’t save the drama from being abandoned by me after ep6. I had struggled to stay focused since ep2 but the plot didn’t work on me and I kept falling asleep. LOL.

I do hope he does historical dramas again cos I think his mannerism, aura, and the way he speaks really fit historical setting. Perhaps he should also consider projects in action genres, and stay away from rom com or melo that has become a bit stale.

      • @Xoxo – “[ever since Real] he has consistently chosen top-tier, bankable leading actresses to work with, which would naturally enhance his performance”

“top-tier, bankable leading actresses” like…. Seo Yeji??(are you seriously trying to promote the narrative that she was ‘top tier’ before IONTBO??)?? And….. no female lead at all (One Day)?? Unless you’re counting Cha Seungwon as a ‘female lead’ lol

Kim Jiwon’s the first top tier leading lady he’s worked with since 2015 (as in, she was already known for least one hit series before signing on to QoT and wasn’t some new breakout). Unless you know of some other acting projects he did with ‘top tier actresses’ that doesn’t appear in his filmography so far and is only known to you.

      • @Xoxo, the last top tier actress he co lead with is JJH in 2014. KWJ is a great actress, but I wouldn’t call her a top tier actress before QoT.

    • @FruitPunch, I did not pay attention to KSH’s speaking tone when you referred to this. But I’m rewatching MLFTS and did notice that his speaking tone somehow the same as in The Moon Embraces the Sun and also in QoT. I don’t understand Korean. Nonetheless, great actors do change how they talk based upon the characters they play to tell different stories. Meryl Streep is one good examples. There are many great actors in the West with that ability to manipulate intonation with ease. Meryl Streep is just one of many I know. KSH sounded pretty good in The Moon Embraces the Sun. But he somehow sounded a bit tense, not relaxed in the modern dramas. I’m not saying he’s not good at his lines cos I think he is. But somehow his tone sounds more formal and may fit historical settings better. That’s just my subjective impression.

      • Gee who hurt you Somebody? Chill tf out. Two essays over a short comment 😂 Must be really lonely wherever you are. Get a life my friend. You think too highly of yourself. “Sharp and honest” my ass. Lol.

Ps. I neither hate nor adore to death QoT so your blathering falls on deaf ears sadly.

      • @Liesel Right? So tired of people like Somebody acting like people don’t like their “HoNeSt” and “sHaRp” opinions because people are just “OvErSenSiTiVe” when these people are just assh*les with no tact. Not sure what “pile on” she’s referring to either because literally nobody even attacked her for her opinions (which aren’t as groundbreaking as she’s making them out to be, by the way).

Other readers here can go to other QoT articles to see that Somebody is fighting an imaginary fight with some imaginary rabid KSH/QoT fan lmao

And yeah, Somebody needs to take a chill pill. It ain’t that serious lol. Some people here also said they didn’t like QoT and nobody attacked them. People are only attacking obvious trolls and haters

      • I’m here to discuss dramas not to fight with a keyboard troll nobody like you. Mind your own business if I appear to be a sore thumb to your impaired vision! I hurt your ego!!!!!!!!! Go touch some grass and breathe fresh air for you to heal. LOL.

  15. Who can beat the 20 dollars of Julia Roberts for Ocean Eleven ? 😜😜😜 Joking ! I remember that a big US celebrity ( director or actor)to ensure the production of a movie took the risk to not get paid as usual but to get a percent if the movie was a a success . It was a block buster and he won big bucks ! I know a few big actors who cut their salary just to work with a director they were fan of . But there are also some productions which can’t cast all the actors they want because of the high salary of a big name . It happened a lot in France in which theaters aren’t doing well .

    • But compared to the indecent salary of soccer players , the salary of actors is ridiculous ! i never understood why only players of this sport are paid like that . It’s vertiginous ! And the only sport which makes people go crazy when their country win the World cup !

    • Ikr! I don’t know why the media made this pay cut such a big deal. It’s already happened to many big names in the filming industries in other countries. My fave also took a pay cut to film a drama that has been aired on various TV channels in China more than 30 rounds and is still broadcast now since the premiere last year. That drama won high ratings and was critically acclaimed with many award nominations. Smart actors know what they need to trade off to get good projects successful. Is this practice new to Kdrama? That’s surprising since it’s been there in other countries.

  16. 1. People should get paid whatever a business is willing to pay them. Tom Cruise gets paid a huge amount for every movie, because the producers are banking on him drawing in large audiences. Why shame the actor if the producer is willing to pay that sum?

    2. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I assume male leads usually get paid more than female leads because the large majority of K drama watchers are female, so the male eye candy is expected to draw in a lot of viewers.

    3. It was a wise decision for KSH to voluntarily take the pay cut, because it will result in good publicity, and he will make up for it by a flood of endorsements based on QOT’s popularity.

For the same reason, we don’t need to worry about Kim Jiwon’s salary. She is so stunning in QOT, and she will surely get tons of endorsement offers.

  17. If i’m not mistaken ,the members of The Big Bang Theory agreed to a cut of 10 percent of their salary to increase the salary of Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch .That was really cool ! A big french star accepted to not get paid at all to help a rookie director to produce his 1st film .

  18. @ Somebody

So much yapping constantly from you. Before you accuse, nope ain’t a fan of this drama or these actors. Makjang and 2000’s trope just ain’t my cuppa.

But I need to point out the hilarious irony of someone wanting to “knock sense to fans” with their 6 episode knowledge, lmfaooo. Cute of you to think you have any leg to stand on. You legit keep posting about hating this overhyped drama, wanting to give up, it’s boring and all sorts of things which only fuels said hype. You should just admit you want to desperately be a part of the buzz since everyone is talking about it. It’s called being a hype beast. You obviously feel the need to comment on every single post in this blog in detail. Chinese, Korean, you comment on everything in essay form.

So not being a part of this drama’s hype is major fomo I’m sure. Say you can’t be left out! Just own it instead of pathetically acting like you are doing fans some sort of favor. That’s another level of lame that simultaneously made me laugh and want to knock some sense into you 🤣😜

      • That’s my purpose to repeat the same narratives to stress the same points of my critique of this overhyped drama. Equally rabid fans have been raving about the drama to the moon repeating the same boring narratives. Obviously there are many OCD ahjummas here on this site by your comment. LMAO.

Don’t like my comments? Just get off line or pretend to be blind! You don’t need to bully. It doesn’t make you smarter! Only losers would bully others as you are doing here. LOL. Rubbish imbecile!

      • Gosh somebody, out of all the comments here, who keeps calling name?? You!!!
You’ve been calling rabid fans, lunatic banana, playing victim being bullied, accusing of being gaslighted, etc.
Who even call you jackshit and ass as you’ve been mention it multiple times? Only me call you OCD ahjumma and I just said it once. And now you going on rage saying many OCD ahjumma here. They don’t repeat their essay to emphasise their point on every article of QOT, keep disagreeing with those who adore QOT since it’s not your taste, same point with you, you’re free to criticise, they’re free to like, praise and even adore whatever they want to. They are entitled to do so and you need to respect that!
Who’s the rabid here? You! Who’s the lunatic banana? You! Who’s bullying here? You! Who’s gaslighting here? You! Who’s the biggest loser here? You! And definitely you’re the one who needs meds.

    • @Not a hypebeast lol I noticed that too. That Somebody person definitely has some weird persecution fetish or something, because she thinks she’s always being persecuted here. Her comments always start with “I’m not a hater of KSH/QoT, so rabid fans, don’t attack me!” when literally NOT ONE person attacked her for her opinions regarding QoT. It’s very obvious that what people here mean by “haters” and “trolls” are the ones who make blatant hate comments towards the actors and the people who are pitting KSH against KJW, not the people who are just giving their opinions about the drama, so I don’t know why Somebody always acts like those comments calling out haters and trolls hit a nerve lol.

I always see people on this site giving constructive criticisms of this drama and even saying they personally didn’t like the drama, and no one is really attacking them as long as they’re saying their opinions in a civil way. I went back to other QoT articles and literally NOBODY attacked Somebody, people were just replying to her to discuss KSH’s other dramas or just talking about random topics, so she’s just fighting an imaginary person here lmao.

Also, yes, Somebody seems like the type of person who thinks she’s so “BrUtAlLy HoNeSt AnD sAvAgE aNd pEoPlE dOn’T LiKe It BecAuSe ThEy’Re So SeNsItIvE aNd FrAgILe 🤪”, when in reality, people are just annoyed with her because she’s tactless, rude, whiny, and a huge complainer lmao. So many people can’t understand that there’s a difference between being honest and just having zero tact. I don’t know what’s with her “knock some sense” comment either, like, just let people enjoy things lmaooo

      • @StopTheBS…I noticed that too about Somebody’s comments re her persecution complex especially when they always criticize others for name calling when they’re almost the ones who’s calling others stupid, CCP shill, rabid fans, etc and etc. The disconnect is truly fascinating.

      • Excuse me! You missed derogatory remarks referencing my critique of the drama. I’m name calling you rabid fans cos you’re and you’re the one along side with other emos starting all the name calling by saying me jackshit and asses for the reason I just dislike QoT! It’s not imaginary but it’s in a certain comment of Betterfly or Royal Me et al.

I’m just doing eye for eye. Anyhow, futile to communicate with bananas having communist mindset. If you didn’t start mocking, bullying, attacking ppl who dislike QoT, I wouldn’t have had gone the mile to deal with this crap from you here. LOL Just go live in China or N. Korea where you fit better. LOL.

BTW, stop using multiple usernames to stage a pile-on! I’ve never seen Not a hypebeast, Timmy, Stop theBS coming out of nowhere! These three pieces of gibberish are coming from the same dimwitted troll! LOL

      • @R, it’s legit to wonder if you along with other visitors of C section are CCP affiliated and support the regime, hence CCP stooges are justified label of you guys. I once asked if you’re Chinese and you did not respond. I assumed your answer was YES. I’m honestly very negative about Chinese who have left plenty of bad taste in my mouth. So getting bitter cos of that?

Again, I’ve never started calling other stupid. I only eyed for eye when they made offensive and derogatory remarks first. But you as a Chinese perhaps, already have a biased complex against me cos I’m always critical of China and Chinese. So, stop pretending being the righteous one over here! You’re prejudiced against me at best. LOL. I guess you don’t want to admit being Chinese for some reasons. LOL

      • @Somebody …uh I don’t remember you asking me that but I’ve nothing to hide. I’m Vietnamese but now living in the US. I’ve said elsewhere on this site that I don’t understand Chinese so not like I was purposely hiding being Chinese. And yep, am definitely prejudiced against you for all your unkind remarks and rude behaviors. But I totally admit am kinda obsessed with your comments tho so I too have my own issues 😅

      • @R, I know many national Vientnamese are indeed ethnic Chinese and have that unspoken complex about anything China, similar to many SE Asians. LOL. Per your repeated unhinged reactions to my comments about C dramas before, it’s legit for me to question you cos you seemed to be very ignorant of CCP propaganda and indifferent to speech suppression. Perhaps that’s why your country was also sieged by communists long ago thanks to ppl like you. LOL. I don’t deny I’m blunt on SM and some of my remarks are forthright cos why not? I’m addressing to unknown keyboard warriors including trolls, bots, and many other rambling crap, not sensible ppl in my real social circles, colleagues, and my neighbors who deserve my civil ways to treat them. Why should I pretend to be nice to ppl who are extremely biased, passive aggressive, derogatory, rabid, and appear unhinged? LOL.

Fine! keep being obsessed with me and stalking like antis!!!! It’s very laughable. That has no bearings at all other than popcorn worthy drama to the visitors of this site. LMAO

    • LMAO. Double standards trolls? Just look at how lengthy and verbose the rambling coming repeatedly from rabid fans overglorifying the drama nonstop!!!!! Go tell them to cut short of their obsession with this drama too. Then it would be fair to everyone. Geez! SMH! You ppl share the same tactics used by communists to muffle different voice. LMAO. Go lecture on Chinese SM, not here! I’m entitled to my opinions anywhere any time I’d like to on the soil of the US. Can’t put up with my comments? Just get off line! Don’t think it would work on me by throwing shade! I don’t take shit from trolls.

    • Your user name is pretty comical. LOL. You wrote as if you were on drug! Funny ppl like you have some much room in your head to exercise excessive mental gymnastics and gaslight me. LOL. Go seek a doctor and take right medicine. Lunatic banana!

  19. Fans! Be rational! What’s wrong with ppl voicing their opinions about any dramas, positive or negative? If a barrage of comments are raving the drama and the cast to the galaxy and you like it, please also respect different voices that are not in your favor! I thought Kdrama section of this blog was a way more civilized forum than Cdrama section that has been full of communist vibe of censorship coming from CCP supporters to stop ppl from voicing unfavorable opinions. But it seems no difference here. It was just rabid fans lurking in the past cos their idols were irrelevant to any post yet. LOL. Now I see the same pattern of obnoxious behavior coming from lunatic bullies in this section that intimidates ppl from voicing unpopular opinions. I wonder if these bananas bullying ppl are also CCP censorship supporters cos they exhibit the same behavior patterns. LOL. Calling out pathetic Not a hypebeast, Timmy, and Liesel on this blog !!! Dimwits!

If you start name calling, I will most likely eye for eye. I’m not the one nice to those who are uneducated or uncivilized. If you just voice your preference that’s different from mine, I’m totally fine. All my initial comments were all about the drama itself, acting, writing and directing etc. There’s no personal exchanges at all. Time stamps confirm my points. I don’t label ppl lunatic or rabid fans for no reasons! Why would my personal preference and critique trigger you to have a pile-on over me and turn yourselves into maniac emos? LOL. Get a grip!!!!! You really have to check your mental states and examine why you can’t tolerate ppl expressing different opinions and have an impulse to muffle us!!! I wonder if you have communist upbringing to have such low tolerance. SMH. So toxic!!!

    • Stop acting like you’re the only “rAtIoNaL 🤪” person here who is being persecuted by everyone. Fruit Punch and Xoxo above gave some constructive criticism about the drama and KSH, and NOBODY attacked them. You’re calling fans “rabid” but I haven’t seen them attack any person here who’s only giving constructive criticism in a civil way. These “rabid” fans you speak of are only calling out the obvious haters and trolls who are bringing up other actors to downplay KSH’s talent and also pitting KSH against KJW (i.e. The people commenting things like, “KSH/KJW was the one who carried the drama, the other one was totally overshadowed lol! 🤪”— these are obviously people baiting other people to be in fanwars and they deserve to be called out).

If the call-outs doesn’t apply to you, then stop whining and acting like you’re sooooo persecuted by the “rabid” fans who, in actuality, aren’t even engaging with you until today lol

      • LMAO. you talked as if you were on a high pedestal of holy moral standards! Not everyone including me agree with all the nonsense regarding KSH vs. KJW or whatnot rabid fans gaslighted on certain commenters. I have a very low regard for those who have a fetish to gaslight others, insinuating others with unfavorable opinions that they have degrading character. And this is what these rabid fans have been doing when coming across criticism of QoT or KSH. They just called others haters with all forms of verbal contempt without using their own brains first. LOL. I’m justified to call them “rabid fans.” Their and your behavior is indeed lunatic. And obviously there’s an army of such rabid fans visiting this site regularly.

Do you think your pile-on bullying would intimidate me? LMAO. I was refraining from being nasty. It seems unnecessary now! Just go back to read your own mockery that’s all offensive from the get-go, totally irrelevant to discussion of the drama or acting. Now, I don’t need to be shy of eye of eye. LOL. Holy crap dimwits!

      • READ THEIR COMMENTS AGAIN AND CAREFULLY. They did say “rabid fans” too. I’m not the only one observing incredible psychotic lunacy in some of KSH’s pawns.

    • you literally have a persecution complex, it’s insane. you have no idea how funny you’re looking right now. literal meltdown over a drama lmao

      • Holy crap! All sorts of QoT or KSH’s pawns coming out to get me. LMAO. Who is this wuuut nobody????

    • you’re obviously unwell, please take your meds and curb your screen time

(that includes watching the drama you hate so much)

      • As you wish, verified rabid fan! LMAO. I’ve quit that shitty QoT long ago cos there’re so many excellent dramas on my plate to watch. Enough pain dozing through QoT. LOL.

      • LOL. You’re talking about yourself and your rabid clique! I specifically noted that you’re among the ones going berserk whenever someone expressed slight dissatisfaction with the idol you worship and his dramas. You’d go on a spree bitching about that person. LOL. If that’s not a (RFS) rabid fan syndrome, then what it is?

    • Well most of those who are calling you out are not diehard fans of this show but just rational, sane people who can see how crazy you are.

I wonder why you think your comments are going to change anyone’s mind about this show? Lol. Cause you’re preaching to the wrong church mate. Just cause you watched a few episodes and spouted your mouth off on a blogger’s comment section doesn’t make you a critic or better than the people that love this drama. Admit it, you just want to ruin everyone’s joy no? Does that make you feel better about yourself?

You must be fun in parties Somebody 😅 Gosh, people need to get off the internet sometimes.

      • Gaslighting me again? Huhhhh? I have no intention or interest in changing ppl’s mind. That’s not my job. LOL. What joy did I ruin? Huhhhh? So, collective mockery and dissing coming from rabid fans’ pile-on over those who dislike QoT or KSH all have brought overjoy to the blogs? LMAO. This is the worst joke I’ve ever heard of. Just look at the spamming overhype coming from them and attacking those who show slight dissatisfaction of the drama and the actors!!!!!!! Wow! This bunch rabid fans are one of the most self absorbed and haughty clique! Such hubris! Unbelievable!

      • LOL. Why preaching me? Go find grass yourself. I have a huge greenish lawn of almost 1 acre. Do I need you rabid fans to mind me of my own garden? LOL

    • Please look into free therapy if you can’t afford paid ones. I’m sure there are resources available. I hope anyway.

Good luck and hope you get better soon!

      • See! I said there’s an army of psychotic rabid fans of KSH on this site. Here we are, coming out one by one! LMAO.

  20. Can somebody give Somebody her meds? All I see is yap yap yap lmfao. She thinks she’s being persecuted when users like Fruit Punch and Xoxo also gave their constructive criticisms and weren’t attacked by the “rabid fans” she speak of

    • She’s been like that forever, and it’s apparent under every post. Just learn to ignore her comments. Whether in weird C-ent or in Kdrama land she’s the same. She used to be funny here and there but between her weird CCP obsession, XZ fetish, and free-speech victim trope she’s gotten kind of boring. :/ But people are people right?

Instead of dogpiling on her let’s just learn to not expect different things from her comments. If you couldn’t tell, she feeds off trolling and negativity. Responding to her just creates long threads of commenters hurling hate-filled nonsense. I’d rather not have to scroll too much to see other funny and sassy comments

      • LOL thank goodness! If you could really stop lunatics from stalking me!!! I’d give you 👍👍👍 LMAO. You guys are too obsessed with me that’s not in my expectation visiting here. I ran into some savvy fans who gave me very good recommendations of dramas. But you folks are not among them. Just go close rank with your own species of like-minded maniacs and have lunatic fun of your beloved QoT crap! Stop talking about me cos that just show how obsessed you’re with me. LOL. SMH

      • @omonaihiaJ, you made some laughable comments about C dramas too. That’s why you see me through a prejudiced lens.

I have a pretty good memory that it will register in my head after reading just once. All the trolling comments here came from the bullies who used to be hostile to my opinions about CCP China and Chinese! No surprise for you emos to jump on me! LOL.

    • Like I said before, @Somebody is one of those Karen aunties many of us have the misfortune of knowing. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance, holier-than-thou attitude, constantly spouting (CCP) conspiracies in Whatsapp or family gatherings. She types like a Gen X, with poor grammar and words she lifted from the thesaurus.

HOWEVER, a broken clock can still be right twice a day. In this case, I agree with her opinion of QoT and calling out those annoying KSH stans who act like his PR team here.

      • LOL. This blog is full of self-absorbed ignoramuses not aware of gibberish they puke. Oh yeah you must be an A+ student in English 101 by the way you rambled. LMAO. Why should I pay attention to grammar for a bunch of uneducated brains to read? I’m not writing executive reports LMAO.

      • LOL. I bet you must be an A+ prodigy in English 101. Who cares about grammar when the potential readers are prolly even uneducated? LOL. I’m not writing executive reports !!!! Who talking in casual ways would bother to run check and spelling? LMAO. Your sarcasm is so much reek of bitterness as if you have been personally abused by those Karen adjummas in real life. LMAO. So bizarre!

This is the 2nd response to this underage Gen Alpha named “peeves.” cos the 1st one did not show up. LOL.

      • I’m also pretty sure you have looked up those words in thesaurus although all the words I ever used are just very basic in passing SAT. Oh did you even take it? Too immature to take it yet!!!??? LOL.

  21. @Somebody, Oh dear…how did it snowball to this level?? I just want to say, we may not agree on some points but I personally still enjoy reading your opinions on dramas. We may still have heated disagreements in future but that does not change how I still respect our differences. We are all different individuals coming together discussing Entertainment topics that interest us…

I just like to say, I have started watching afew eps of Queen of Tears… I have to say I am not as invested as many. But that is just personal preference. This drama is not doing much for me.

I do enjoy dramas like Chief Detective 1958 with Lee Je-hoon. I am looking forward to watching this later…. Blood Free (2024) is interesting to me too. But I noticed Koala may not be as interested in such dramas…thus I am not seeing articles of them.

    • Already more than a few ppl here recommended Chief Detective 1958. I’ve never watched LJH before. I know nothing about him. Per several recommendations here, I’m gonna watch that after Beyond Evil. I’m currently invested to digest the plot of BE. The acting of the cast, specifically the ML, is fascinating !!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m also following Lovely Runner that is a cute and nicely paced time-travel melo. Blood Free? First time heard about that. I’ll check. Thanks for the mention.

Ikr, we argued before cos we liked different C actors and C dramas. That’s totally fine and we also apologized to each other later for our emotional and provocative remarks. But rabid fans just don’t have personality to engage themselves in civilized discussions like us.

The bickering all started with KSH’s fans mockery calling my comments and others coming from jackshit and asses. So I responded calling them rabid fans cos THEY ARE! Then the drama continued…to the extent that an army of rabid fans came out one by one to expose themselves confirming their lunacy about QoT by worse name calling and surely I went tooth for a tooth LMAO. Also, some nosey ppl pretending to be neutral about QoT bullied me cos they are just a bunch of Chinese bigots who used to be bitter about my criticism of C dramas and CCP China, and now took advantage to jump on me. Well, typical of CCP Chinese way!

I’m fine with arguments against my own points. But I’m absolutely pissed by any name calling such as jackshit and asses (that Butterfly spat over those who dislike QoT). These fans talked like underage Kpoppers. I simply gave them shit in their face. LOL.
