It’s off to the 2024 Cannes Film Festival next month in May for HK director Peter Chan and top C-actress Zhang Zi Yi in their highly anticipated and award fodder movie She Has No Name (酱园弄). It’s a movie depicting an infamous real life murder case in 1945 Shanghai where an abused wife with just the surname Chan killed her drunken abuser husband and dismembered him into 16 pieces strewn into suitcases. This case blanketed the city newspapers of that era with and the wife was initially sentenced to death before it was commuted to a 15 year sentence. Movie fans are excited to see Zhang Zi Yi’s intensity onscreen playing this wife and reportedly her life story over the decades has become a rallying call for women in China living in domestic abuse and dreaming of a way out.
So, nobody even cares about this piece of information!? LOL. C movie just doesn’t have as many fans as C drama outside China. No data to back up my point here but based upon casual observation.
Maybe it is Zhang Ziyi… I dont know she has many fans or haters here.
Digressing, @Somebody, you saw Xiao Zhan latest Gucci’s Ad… I may not like the handbags but he does carry them well. He looks so good….
TBH, I’ve never been the one for Gucci but I like Tod’s styles better. Gucci hired a new creative director (last year?) and I appreciate his taste more than the old ones. The most recent ads perhaps showcased the concepts that I like the best among all in the Gucci history. The new concepts fit XZ’s aura. They are low-key luxury! I love it. I had absolutely no interest in Gucci in the past but now will consider given the new styles.
I own a number of Tod shoes…they are just so comfortable… I love them. Yes, the new Gucci Ad suits Xiao Zhan… There is a handbag I am aiming to get from Gucci….not in a hurry as yet.
