Highly Anticipated Period C-drama Joy of Life Season 2 Releases First Official Posters Ahead of Rumored May Premiere

Well the rumors are true and May 2024 is getting cleared out for the arrival of Joy of Life season 2, which despite its title is a politically intense period drama and not slice-of-life modern fare. JOL2 sees the return of male lead Zhang Ruo Yun along with Li Qin, Chen Dao Ming, Wu Gang, and Song Yi and plenty of other supporting and side characters as this is a continuation of where the drama left off. I didn’t watch the drama initially and never got around to it so season 2 isn’t for me but I’m excited so many fans of the drama get their long awaited follow up and also curious to see how ratings turn out as the drama airs on CCTV-8 and streams on Tencent.

Highly Anticipated Period C-drama Joy of Life Season 2 Releases First Official Posters Ahead of Rumored May Premiere — 14 Comments

  1. Those posters have been around for awhile now. Will it happen or will we wander the desert for a few more years. šŸ™ƒ

  2. This is exciting! If it’s airing on CCTV along with Tencent, then the schedule is pretty much set, so it looks like the mid May rumor is legit.

  3. What?? You watched and were over the moon about makjang Queen of Tears? I am losing respect. Perhaps you might hit play on Joy of Life 1 to at least acknowledge your followers who have a five -year wait in them. For a reason.

  4. Well, we shall see. I don’t like this drama’s marketing direction so far, kept buying hot searches about which roles have been replaced with another actor or actress. Like come on, dishing out good teasers would work tons better.

  5. I didn’t watch JOL1 too since I never got around to clicking that play button, but I’m excited for ZRY and JOL2 so Yaaay for the fans!

  6. Even though I watched season 1, I need to rewatch it because I’ve literally forgotten most of it and need a refresher. There was some teaser or trailer of an evil princess and I totally didn’t remember her character even though I’m pretty sure she’s important…

  7. I disliked the seconda half of the first season with the main lead flirting with every girl he met. I also remember him as very arrogant. If he was a girl he woild be Mary Sue.

    • It was alright but the ending of season one though reminded me of the ending of Signal. An open ending begging and insinuating a continuation that has taken a good chunk of my life to wait on lol. But really it is an interesting watch.

      • Ha ha, then maybe I should wait and see if season two has a real ending, just to avoid going through the same torture!

  8. It’s been 3 years for me so, I am way pass that level of excitement.when the news of season 2 came out, I rewatch S1 so that I don’t miss anything. But it way long overdue, but I still gonna watch it anyway.

  9. They are so confident in their drama that they keep buying black hot searches. Doesn’t sound all that confident to me.

The supposed CCTV version has been cut up to hell and back so who knows how that will turn out.

Tbh I think it’s a great drama, I can’t wait to see S2 and I love the writer of the original so I don’t know why they keep playing these games.

  10. I’ve watched and rewatched JOL so many times over the past 5 years lol. I loved it. And I still occasionally watch this when I’m bored. Ofc I don’t want to overhype this and cause myself major disappointment later, but I am soooo relieved this is finally airing. That in itself is worth celebrating

  11. Iā€™ve watched this drama season 1 four times and loved it each time my two favorite dramas is this one and snow sword stride would love a season 2 of that one as well but way excited for season 2 jol
