Cheng Lei Fans Demand His Agency Fire His Handsome Eye-catching Assistant for Trying to Outshine Him
It’s more and more obvious that it’s the loudest and most obnoxious fandom fans that take over the public perception of the star. C-actor Cheng Lei only in the recent year has been elevated to male lead thanks to a breakout role in My Journey to You but his fans are already getting in over their head in making demands. Recently Cheng Lei left an event and was snapped by fans and reporters showing him walking out behind his assistant and then waving at fans. His fandom got upset saying the tall handsome assistant was dressed more cool/attractive than Cheng Lei, who looked rather old fashioned in a brow jacket and button down shirt. His assistant is good looking as seen prior times and because he was wearing a face mask and a cool young man type outfit (oversized color sweatshirt and white pants), Cheng Lei fans one could mistaken him for being the celebrity instead of Cheng Lei. The outspoken ones are demanding his agency find Cheng Lei a new assistant, presumably an ugly one lol.
That is a bit much lol shouldn’t they say find him a better stylist. If his outfit was too bland that is what I would think. That is just too sad lol

I wonder if these types of ridiculous fans realise how bad they make their own stars look? It’s not even like the assistant is in some attention grabbing outfit. He is literally in a basic outfit of plain jumper and white cargo trousers. If fans feel so threatened by an assistant being taller, better dressed or whatever then that implies they don’t have confidence in their celebrity and think he lacks the charisma and looks to compare with a “commoner”.

@HL Yup it was all over weibo this afternoon. She left a letter with beautiful words behind. Although people may find some of her stories morally questionable, there’s no doubt she’s a great writer and had made a big impact with her literature.
In UK, there is a bill being pushed to legalized assisted death… I have no strong opinion about it as it is about other people’s decision. I hope I will never have to make such decisions…it will be so tough.

This is probably the first time I’ve read about someone potentially losing their job in the entertainment industry because they were too good looking. The star isn’t insecure but his fans are… I really hope he doesn’t lose a job over this. It’s hard to find work nowadays!

Isn’t hiring good looking manager the trend lately, I have seen a few celebrities with handsome/beautiful assistants like Yang Mi have very beautiful manager.
I say maybe this is a good way to launch someone that agencies can now resort to. Haha. Get a known artist to walk with someone equally good looking and pretend to be an assistant.

this reminds me how Cheng Yi got so insecure to share the same screen with a much handsome, taller and younger actor Huang Junjie that CY through his studio instructed his fans to go on full attack mode and cause public ruckus to kick out Huang Junjie from the cast as 2nd ML. CY fans tried to use the ‘risky artist’ as an excuse but that’s already proven false bec Huang Junjie just got a better and bigger project “山神” as ML than any of CY backyard production dramas. Most of the time fans ‘insecurity’ is reflection of their idol or in CY case an ‘echo’

@Gennita because like Cheng Lei, Cheng Yi is considered ‘ugly’ according to Chinese netizens standards. For context, actor Li Hongyi is known as handsome version of Cheng Yi and I am not making this up 🤦♀️

what a sick people…they can made people losing job. Famous athtlete in China that won gold in swimming and Zheng QingWen gold in Tennis both dissolve their fan club. How wonderful it is to be able to do that. Unfortunately as Actor / Actress they need their fan club…do they? I guess if you play a good drama / movie, you will get a lot of fan in China. But once your drama is not good…they will start to crucify you. So tell me, do they need this fan club?
