When the Stars Gossip Drops Out of Netflix Global Top 10 Non-English Shows and Opens with a Low 5.4 on Douban with Chinese Viewers — 74 Comments

  1. Honestly the news of this drama flopping everywhere made more noisy and buzz rather than anything of this drama LOL and IMO WTSG is the most flopping kdrama in kdrama history if we see from the budget, the casts and everything

    • What Markle the workplace “Bully”? Hatred for her or not, she will still earn millions as she has fan following.. I may not like her but she is new worthy.

      • She is American… she did not understand the meaning of serving the Country, she left. I think she is still new worthy in US..isn’t she?

      • I have no idea of whatsoever about the British royal family. So no comments. I simply don’t read any news about any royal families in any political systems on earth. I’m only interested in royal families in drama though. LOL.

      • Magan was only briefly a member of the British royal family, even though she still holds a title (in name only).

She’s was a serviceable American actress best known for her role in Suits. A well recieved 9 seasons long TV show (with Korean and Japanese adaptations in 2018). Though, she was regular but not the main characte (male centric serial).

Before her marriage into the British royal family she was also active on social media. She supported very vocal female empowerment and fought against discrimination of POC. A very outspoken person living years in the limelight (not A level). She wasn’t used to step behind or being told what to say, what to do, how to dress etc. So, her transition into the royal householde as the wife of Prince Harry (the “spare” and brother to now heir apparent Prince William) was everything but smoothly.

As the younger royal generation they tried for a shory time a “fab four” marketing: the brothers (William & Harry) plus the wives (Magan & Princess Kate). From the start the gossip was the two wives didn’t get along and the former friction between the brothers also escalated shortly after. Now put into an unforgiven hunting British tabloid press, who was loving Kate (a English native) for years by the time Magen married into the royal family and there was no thing Magan could do right. Fueled by her attitude, cultural differences and not being perceived as a person serving the country like other royals did, there was no week without articles about comparisons between her and Kate or her “scandalous” diva-like attitude or mistakes she made. Also, there seemed to be a problem with her being not white enough. There is more, but you get the picture.

Then, Harry & Megan decided to want out of the royal cage, to live their lives like they wanted and to speak freely (she wasn’t allowed to adress the gossip about her before). They did that very publicly, broken with the family and moved to California. The British press (and the family) never forgave them.

We don’t know what truly transpired, since the royal family is famous for their very stiff attitude, the British tabloid are infamous for their gossip and she is too outspoken, too American to be perceived decent enough for a British royal. Though, the harassment of her is real, it’s still open to debate, if she is partially responsible for it. Thinking about it all, it would make a great makjang drama. LOL

      • Oh wow! Thanks everyone. What a story! It seems what Meghan Markle to the British press, Trump is to the American media. LOL

      • @ eJc You forgot to mention Meghan Markle is also half black and the British Royal family is still pretty racist. She’s the first woman of color to enter the family since their inception. If Harry didn’t love his wife enough and didn’t think she wasn’t treated poorly in GB, I doubt he would have left GB or file lawsuits against tabloids spreading misinformation about his wife. There is two sides to the story, of course GB tabloids wouldn’t openly admit how racist they are. LOL

      • @neen Thanks for adding.
I thought I covered it “with her being not white enough. There is more, but you get the picture”
There IS much more to all the drama, but I thought my comment was to long as it is and better not getting into more details 🫣

      • Meghan had worked in Suits for 7 years and has a spotless reputation. @HL the reason workplace bully will never stick is because nobody can ever come up with specifics. Its always oh, I made a mistake and she was not happy with me afterwards. The whole how dare she that follows those accusations pretty much gives the deal away. How dare a biracial woman tell me off for my mistakes!

      • @Gem.. no point speculating…I know what I read as you know what you read. I dont care she is a bully or not..as she does not affect my work.

  2. I’m not really surprised. It’s kinda sad for the people who made the set and worked on the CGI. The space station is really well made. But the story and the characters are meh and the actors can’t make it better.

  3. WTSG is the def the most flop series in kdrama history based on everything. Other series might have lower rating than WTSG but at least they have better script, not big budget drama and not from big name casts…..This is really bad huhhh

    • yawn, here comes this right-wing weirdo again. bet you were cheering when your loser king elon muskrat did the n*azi salute lmao at the orange man’s inauguration lmao.

also, imagine acting like “woke” is an insult 😂
      if you’re anti-wokeism, you’re literally just telling on yourself that you’re pro-ra*cism, se*xism, etc.

    • “Corrupting KDrama” is a crazy thing to say when Squid Game, which is probably something you’d consider a “woke” drama as it has a transgender character in it, is the drama that put KDrama on the map and is literally the most globally successful KDrama of all time. Also, no, wokeism doesn’t destroy things, corruption and bigotry do. And in this case, bad writing ruined this drama. Many “woke” KDramas literally did well/are literally doing well, so what tf are you yapping about? Go back to X/Twitter where you can b!tch and moan about wokeism all day and get cheered on by your fellow loser bigots 🙄

    • Conservative right wings had been censored online for the past few years until now. Finally they feel free to speak out their minds and hence take advantage of any chances to, even in seemingly irrelevant drama blogs LOL. Their criticism of liberal agendas from COVID to vaccines to DEI to immigration etc. were intimidated or even completely silenced. (Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg betrayed Biden administration soon before he stepped down LOL to testify that his Facebook staff had been coerced and even yelled by Biden’s team to censor/ban/remove speech unfavorable to his liberal policies. LOL. It was such a show in a democracy holding the first Amendment of the US Constitution as a holly call!) The conservative are now blowing back really hard against these liberal agendas that they were not able to debate and criticize due to censorship in the past few years. Now they are everywhere calling out DEI. LOL.

Trump finally rescued the right wings and set them free to voice their minds. Now they are everywhere calling out woke culture. Here we go with @Antonio! LOL. Leftists have to get ready, at least for next 4 years. 😭

  4. watch his stans (the kpop fans of actor fandoms) move the goalposts yet again to go into denial about this flopping

what’s it going to be, “his fanbase!” (which clearly isn’t watching), “it’ll do well in China!” (Chinese viewers said no), “investors are the ones who really matter and they won!”(if anyone can make money off a flop drama), “but other actors had flop dramas!” (not this kind of huge ones, two in a row at that), and my favourite, “only those who understand science and metaphysics will get it!” “he’s still a big name!” (for how much longer if he keeps making choices like this?)

I’m a fan of Gong Hyojin and I have the comments going back several years on koala’s posts to prove it but I’m not delusional, this is her first ever flop drama and I’m sad as a fan but being in denial would be more embarrassing. A 20+ year run of acting in dramas and every single one she did as a lead was a hit+critically acclaimed until now, I get why she chose this/wanted to reunite with a familiar writer but this is just a mess and even she can’t make it better. And tvN does not put dramas in its prime weekend slot if it’s ok with them getting 1 percent, Queen of Tears was clocking 25 percent in that same slot less than a year ago!

    • I totally agree on everything you said (I generally always do lol). I’m also a GHJ fan and have been since The Greatest Love. Other than the obvious acting talent, one of her biggest strength is the ability to pick interesting scripts. She doesn’t stick to one genre but whatever she does, it always gets rave reviews. Her other strength is having amazing chemistry with her male leads. The problem in this one is all those things aren’t working. It’s not an interesting script, there’s no chemistry and to cap it all up – whether due to the writing of the character or her own interpretation, I just can’t care for Eve. Which is very unusually as GHJ can make any FL relatable.

As for the denials – I’m honestly enjoying the ridiculousness of it all. And in another post, some of his stans have already accepted that WTSG a major flop. They’re just taking solace in the idea that at least it’s the global level flop and not just the ordinary type LOL. The lengths some go to for justification is hilarious. For the remaining stans, it’s a rather interesting situation to be in. The more one argues it’s NOT A FLOP for their Oppar, it makes it look like they are defending said oppar because he’s the reason for the failure… which imo isn’t really the case. No actor can save this script, not even GHJ, so he’s just a secondary issue to the primary one. Either way this drama is a disaster and if it was being live shot, it would get cut down pronto.

    • Yeah this drama problem is def with the script. Although tbh lee minho acting is still so-so. And in some scene where he needs to talk in english, he’s still as bad as his younger days. It really breaks the immersion
His acting skill is still passable to me, but with his long career, he really could have done better

    • Imagine typing “you need to understand science and metaphysics” as a way justify the stupidity of this drama 😂

I am indifferent to LMH. But it’s highly amusing to see all his fans and secret fans get worked up over an unsalvageable drama. For Eternal King, they hid behind the “it’s going amazing on Netflix!!” But when every metric is in hell, the creative comments as a means of coping is getting more hysterical.

  5. I do not know why, but I am surprised that When the Stars Gossip is lagging behind Alpha Males of all things. It is actually an entertaining, woke comedy, but it is not mainstream at all.

  6. LOL. WTSG is the one I’m looking forward most to new eps. Regardless of the reviews and the ratings, I turned to like this wacky space show by the end of ep 6. There are still zealous fans of (either LMH or GHJ or both) out there on various social media that has been following recaps and discussions about each episode with 100s comments. I can see why this isn’t up the alley of Asian fans….romance has been by far the weakest part of the plot.

Since LMH is so popular even though many are thrilled to see WTSG flop LOL, I started to watch THE HEIRS yesterday LOL. I wanted to see how he became a global Hallyu sensation and what made him so. My first and quick impression from the right beginning of the Heirs was that: at least LMH had undeniably good looks and a lot of European viewers were mesmerized by him LOL. I still don’t like PSH’s acting back then although she improved after maternity leave. Chaebol stories aren’t my gem but I’ll watch the Heirs for LMH’s sake…to gaze at his beauty LOL.

    • Haven’t you been saying that you dropped this drama after 2 episodes or something? xD Did you get your stories confused after posting under so many different accounts?
Look at you, trying so hard to act nonchalant and pretending not to be a lmh fangirl, only to slip up like that. Oopsie.

      • I am certain @Somebody dont use other names…she is so upfront and will speak her mind. She will not hide under different accounts, she will not need to bother doing that.

She did say she will watch as this drama still hold her interest. But she did not rave in eps2, as she is still checking it out. But she have since ep1 mention this drama have not turned her off.

      • people are allowed to pick a drama back up even after they dropped it. didn’t know it was a one time decision that we’re not allowed to walk back on.

      • Thanks dear @HL for being level-headed.

I wonder how the heck ppl have wild imagination about multiple accounts whenever there are more than expected comments opposite their opinions. They need to know as much as they dislike WTSG and LMH, there are indeed a lot of people who like LMH’s dramas.

    • The Heirs” did NOT made him a hallyu star. It’s literally the four dramas before (BoF, PT, CH and F) that cemented his stardom.
He skyrocketed to fame with “Boys over Flowers”. Also, internationally! That made him the halluy star he’s still today. There were so many references to the character he played and the drama. It was hugh. I didn’t get the hype and preferred him in City Hunter, though. I never felt the urge to re-watch any of his dramas.

The problem with “Heirs” (2013) is also, the great expectation that was put on it. LMH and PSH had their great breakouts in massively popular dramas in 2009. He with BoF. She with “You are Beautiful”. Also, very successful and iconic at the time. Impossible to miss. That isn’t comparable to todays standards. It was insane. Since then fans wanted a union of both in one drama. So, Heirs came along years later. And I’m not the only one disappointed with it. I liked the side stories & character much more.

For many, many years every international Kdrama site (legal and illegal) had YaB and BoF on the top spots. Therefore, also PSH and LMH. Regardless, of how many other new dramas came along. They stayed there for years! It’s unbelievably with today’s fast turnarounds. Since I’m long past the target audience I’m not sure if both dramas aged well. I’d guess that both are outdated and one will miss out on the reference from that time period. Especially, female characters in dramas have surely evolved over time. So, I’m not sure, if I would recommend watching BoF to get what made LMH a star. It’s definitely not “The Heirs”.

      • Aw should I watch BoF after the Heirs? LOL. I wasn’t his fan. But since so many hateful comments here wish me or have even declared me as his fangirl on my behalf (cringe worthy being called a girl at such an age LOL) or his secret fangirl (as if I had been stalking and having hallucination about LMH at night LMAO), I feel obligated to at least watch ALL his works in order to deserve the fan title. LOL.

I’m not a fan of Taiwanese or Japanese version of BoF which were also very popular back then. I’m just not a fan of silly chaebol romance LOL. But I’m so curious about LMH’s popularity, rise to the hallyu stardom, and antis’ hate against him as well LOL. Now I did see the reason why many swooned over him in the Heirs. He was so gorgeous LOL and the acting was good enough in the Heirs. I liked Faith and City Hunter for the plots and his action scenes. These were the only two dramas of LMH that I watched before.

      • Like I said I’m not comfortable recommending watching BoF. For various reasons. There are so many better kdramas out there. Even old school once, than to waste time on that. Since you already know the story of BoF from diffrent adaptations, it would probably be fun to watch snippets of his role on YT. However, his hair is awful styled in my book and the fashion is questionable 😂

As for The Heirs (also like I said) the side stories are way better from cute (Krystal & KMH) to heart-wrenching to funny-bitchy. At lot of actors who are famous by now are also staring in it. And there are better lookin once in my opinion (e.g. Park Hyung Sik, Choi Jin Hyuk, Kang Min Hyuk) Still, overall not worth watching. Unless, a personal favorite actor/ actress is in it?

BTW, as long as nobody calls you a sasaeng fan, why care? On that note, I do have a recommendation for an old school drama, which I really loved: “Reply 1997” (it features sasaeng fans). In my personal taste the best of the franchise. Pun intended. However, no recommendation to watch LMH’s “Personal Taste”. LOL

      • I try to look BOF to understand the buzz about LMH but the storyline is so outdated and so weird ; I cannot adhere to the script . Male leads cross easily the redline at each episode … Moreover it is the worst staff acting I ever seen( watching K drama since 2020) So yes , LMH improves his acting in When stars gossip but there is so better kdrama actors than him … I have no trills listening to him that I I get from actors in when the phones rings or Mr Plankton I just watched before . The couple Eve an Ryong does not sound natural. I cannot believe to this suddenly love.

      • @Mogi I totally agree on BoF. ML crossing so many red lines and still the story gets so many adaptation nover the years. Kdrama version wasn’t the first remake. The latest being Thai version from 2021/22. I can’t fathom why the story with such a ML concept gets recycled over and over again. Didn’t Daylan Wang career took off after staring in Chinese version Meteor Garden (2018), too?

  7. Even When the Phone Rings was rated pretty high and fans have been constantly raving about the drama, it also fell out of Netflix top 10. Therefore, no surprise for WTSG that has a lot of negative reviews by word of mouth to fall out of the list from #8. That said, I started being addicted to WTPR but now may drop the dram after ep 6 since the schemes have become repetitive playing similar psychological effects on viewers and getting a bit dragging. Besides, I found no interesting messages or contents in WTPR other than suspension and romantic tension between the two leads (in which Yoo Yeon-seok were really good). I’m now distracted to watch Love Scout and the Heirs while waiting for WTSG update.

    • You are comparing a currently airing drama with one that ended 2 weeks ago. The cope is real desperate for certain fans. Including them trying SO HARD to pretend like they aren’t fans to give this flop drama credibility. Desperate times calls for desperate actions after all 🤣🤣🤣

      • Your mental gym is wide open again LOL (not your first time won’t be the last I’m sure). I’m not his fan but may become one as you wish LOL. Butthurt seeing a non-fan like me who even like LMH’s global flop (not to mention his mega hits LMAO)? I’ll continue to have a blast with my exploration of other dramas of LMH. You keep bitterness overload!!! LOL.

    • 🤡

WTPR fell out of the top 10 because it ended – on the first week of Jan. Ironically WTSG’s first week of airing.

When WTPR was airing, it was in the top 4 throughout its run… in fact, it debuted at #4 and never dropped lower than it during the 8 weeks it aired. Even when certain weeks only dropped 1 episode. After ending, it still ranked higher than WTSG (a current airing drama). In fact… WTSG has yet to reach WTPR’s lowest ranking – last week at #7 😉

      • I remember WTPR had over 400 p on flixpatrol daily and in Top 10 during its entire run. What is WTSG getting now? A mere 21 p and at #27. I have never seen such low numbers for an ongoing drama.

For the fangirl(s) who don’t understand or want to dismiss flixpatrol’s ranking system, just ignore and continue enjoying your show.

    • Yeah wtpr is good only if you see just the romance and turn your brain off for everything else… Although most romcom had their own share of plot hole, with the topic wtpr in, some scene feels almost too unrealistic

    • Them: WTPR doesn’t have any interesting messages! I’m gonna drop it!
Also them: Now I’m gonna watch the heirs 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please girl make it sense! 😂
I don’t like LMH but at least you could’ve said Pachinko which is far better than that crappy drama.

    • Please don’t mention WTPR otherwise another fangirl (who knows exactly who she is) will go batshit crazy and accused WTPR of hijacking post abt WTSG.

Anyone can say all they want about WTPR, whatever nonsensical plot or what not but the drama is a hit and that goes to say, there must be something done right that made it a hit. Even YYS’s song for the drama charting in the top 10 of Billboard global chart. The buzz is real. Anyway, WTPR is the 3rd most watched k-dramas on Netflix in 2024 (1st if QOT and second is LND) despite airing end of the year and still has 2 episodes left by the time 2024 drew it curtains.

You can’t compare that with WTSG at all.

    • The advantage of “When The Phone Rings” was not overhyped by media & Netflix. As such, no overly popular celebs as leads and big-budgeted. It was not even front-runner of Netflix incoming Kdramas before, so no expectation to even make it to Top #10 list.

In comparison to “When The Star Gossips” who expected to do well due to big star leads and months of mediaplay.

    • @Somebody, i started watching Love Scout and loved it but at some point, even if i don’t have anything negative to say about the drama and the actors, they lost me . Perhaps “good drama but bad timing for me . As for When the phone rings i really enjoyed it even if some things didn’t make sense for me (webnovel is a little different ) , but the drama was more about the love story of the couple and Yoo Yeon Suk aced his role . I enjoyed Doubt and Black out ( Snow white must die). Sometimes i wish i could comment here in french , to be able to write comments that everyone would not misunderstood because of the highscool englich from 35 year ago . Imagine my frustration . I do not always agree with you but i enjoy reading all your comments which are well written , and also the comments of many others who are there since years now .@ HL,@Sayaris,@ Royal We @Pretty Autumn,….and others who left as @ Lal, @emchi,…i still miss you pals !

      • 🤗🤗 @cahill…I enjoy our chats too. Btw, I told you a joke in “Kim Soo Hyun and Jung Hae In attend couture shows in milan as italian brand reps” article. If you have chance, do read it.🤣🤣

      • I just read it and left a comment . You made me laugh but it could have happened to me too . I don’t dare to say how i’m far away from all that is new , it goes to fast to even try to catch …

      • @cahill, everyone fan has different preference and that’s why different genres and various actors. For certain dramas, I watched because they were my favorite genres by default. For some other dramas, I enjoyed and appreciated overall quality. There were also certain dramas that I watched simply because I liked leading actors. YYS has never been one of my favorite K actors even his acting in WTPR was pretty good. That said, when a plot isn’t totally up my alley, I’ll easily get bored given that I’m not appealed to the leading actors either. WTPR is such a case regardless of generally good ratings and reviews.

      • @Somebody, that’s what is interesting, we can’t always love the same things but i did recommend you Beyond Evil and Stove League, didn’t you like it ? I just love this kind of dramas .I always check a drama when i like the cast but now if the plot doesn’t appeal me, i drop . These days i like checking all what i can because i may discover a gem . I’m not into movies or dramas which take place in space, i may be one of the few people who couldn’t finish Interstellar, The Passengers, and curiously i used to be a fan of Dr Who . I think that as we grow older we changed, and sometimes it’s just about timing . I’m currently watching some works that i wouldn’t have been able to watch 5 or 10 years ago !For example The tale of two sisters Kmovie is a masterpeace , love it .

      • @cahil, Beyond Evil and Hot Stove League are two of the best dramas I’ve watched since my break from dramaland. Thanks for many good recommendations. I think BE and HSL are just two of very good dramas you recommended. I appreciate it a lot. 👍👍👍

    • Wow the scale of vitriol against those who have positive things to say about LMH and his dramas! People’s bigotry is insane LOL.

As @HL mentioned, I’m all upfront on social media since I don’t have to be as diplomatic as we should be in real life. I’m getting online to speak my mind frankly without pretention. I don’t need to pretend to be LMH fan because I’M NOT. A lot of ppl know who my fave is and he is not competing with any K actors. LMAO.

It’s interesting people got worked up so easily just because I like something they don’t like. PROTEST then when I tell you I prefer apple to your beloved citric fruits LOL. Think about how ridiculous you are if you are full of bitterness against someone who enjoy all the delicacies made from apple but somehow can’t tolerate the acidity of orange! LOL. Your reactions are similar here. Entertainment is nothing but for our pleasure just like certain food. We’re here to share our own preferences. Why so belligerent? SMH.

      • This comment was meant to be a separate one to speak of an opinion about this blog in general.

Asian drama fans’ fetish longing for conformity and unanimous voice is something interesting worth studies in social psychology.

This reminds me of the case of Qot when there were people including me just turned off by the drama and the acting and fans were irked. LOL. Even the majority liked QoT, please respect the minority who think QoT was overrated. Now that WTSG may have dismal ratings but there are also people like me enjoying the series by far. Please respect the minority too. Are we blogging under dictatorship like communist countries where low tolerance of different opinions is a norm? Tell me you’re from N Korea or someone breaking the firewall of CCP LOL! Who do you think you’re, drama Goddess, Academy or Golden Globe judges, to diss the minority who like WTSG? It’s fine for people to dislike and be scathing about a drama. But it’s definitely a mental issue for you to attack/mock those who like what you don’t like. I’ve been saying this many times. I don’t initiate verbal attacks unless I’m the target first. But I’m not nice to whoever shades me or anyone who I don’t see deserves any gaslighting. Just expect eye for an eye. Insults fit where deserved.

  8. Shocker… not. The Global Flop (all credit to LMH’s fangirl Jennilee) really falling off the grid. There was something or the other about Netflix being the “goal” for WTSG… womp womp 😂

Let’s be honest, in order to actually rank in Netflix’s top 10, a drama needs to be popular on sns. Which this is not. If the drama stays in the 2% ratings range, the off screen drama should eventually die down and everyone can move on. There are big dramas starting their promos – the biggest so far being IU -PBG’s and CWS-PBY’s dramas. The interest on this will wind down quickly.

    • Millie if not for anything, credit this drama for the sheer joy it has given you. You just love to hear this drama is not doing well, I’m glad you have that happiness, you’re part of GLOBAL after all. I do wonder whatever will become of you when the drama ends.

      • Another shocker… I don’t base my entire existence on a drama, or a baby boy unlike you. So if you feel the need to wonder what will become of me in a few weeks, that’s called projection babe. You’ll figure it out, hopefully. I would hate to not see your clownery here so pls do 😂

And yeah!! You got it! I’m giving this drama for the sheer amusement and hilarity it’s been giving me. The drama outside the drama is my source of entertainment and it’s been FUN. But as per your very specific request, I’ll always make sure to give you credit for declaring this to be The GLOBAL FLOP that it is 🥰

      • @Millie – I am not watching WTSG but I’m following the off screen drama. You should know your sarcasm and on-point-ness when dealing with the crazies is giving me life LOL. You never resort to swearing or ranting at any point and I’m absolutely here for sarcastic take downs LOL.

    • You, Millie and everyone else is talking about it because it is GLOBAL. That’s literally how global works. Like I said even if it falls to -12, y’all will still talk about it. It’s the curse of being global

      • You missed the very key word – flop. It’s not just global. It’s literally THE GLOBAL FLOP. We’ll keep talking about it as it continues to break its own global flopness. The “curse” of being in a trash drama that’s globally trashed 😉

      • not trying to insult your idol. no need to go on the defense. just don’t understand why there needs to be a post every few days reiterating this drama is a failure in some way or another. there’s always going to be an audience for a drama no matter how small. It’s good to have variety. everyone agrees it isn’t pulling in the audience expected for its budget and star power. atp we’re just beating a dead horse with a stick. just let the people who still enjoy it continue to enjoy it.

      • Jia I was thinking the same tho too. I mean koala has flogged this horse to death and is still flogging. I mean this is looking like overkill, it’s like literally every waking minute😂😂😂. I’m sorry if I came off defensive.

      • Thank you @somebody❤️.Are you still watching the heirs? I hope you like it. Some folks say it’s shallow but I don’t think so. It’s so loaded in my opinion, there are a lot of relationships arc to consider. My top three being LMH/PSH, who doesn’t love a Cinderella story 😁. Then there’s Lee min ho and his brother, there was just a lot of pain there and then to see a brothers love inspite was quite deep. Then there’s LMH/Kim woo bin’s relationship. That was so good, the love/hate. Perhaps you’d like his relationship with his mum in the drama. Did you know even now, he still keeps in touch with her, and I was watching a program or I stumbled on it, and she was just beaming with pride and referring to him as her son. It’s cute. A lot of relationships to unpack in the drama. Have fun.

      • @Jennilee, yup I’m still watching the Heirs. But I have to confess I’m not the one for school drama + chaebol romance. I can’t watch too many eps in a row of any drama in this genre. Nevertheless, LMH was hella charming in this series that I can’t keep my eyes off of him LMAO. He emoted pretty well and had strong chemistry with PSH. I gather some people just dislike LMH to a point they are blind to his good performance or they just don’t want to admit it LOL.

I just watched ep 7 of WTSG. I love it and look forward to ep 8. There were always awkward love lines in each ep so far though LOL. This is the weakest part of WTSG writing specifically through lens of typical Kdrama fans. International critiques (not fans’ feedback) are mixed. So, people either love WTSG like me or hate it like most of Asian fans.

  9. The plot alone was so bad. Some parts were overdragged and also felt that Space setting limited the development of characters (I hope this space arc will cut short)

Also, the chemistry is lacking bc 1st episode featured intimate scenes with different partners of respective leads.

Even overly popular artists (like Gong Hyo Jin who’s chemistry attractor)… can’t save the plot mess.

  10. It’s a flop , it’s not the first and it will not be the last . Joker was a hit , Joachim Phoenix won an oscar and Joker 2 was a BIG flop and is nominated at Razzies awards . This drama isn’t my cup of tea but it’s always sad for all the crew who worked in it . Thoses who have a problem with transgender, skip the Ceremony of Oscars as the movie of Jacques Audiard has an impressive list of nominations !!! It would spare you to have an heart attack . Still don’t get the hate towards LGBT+ ! Next monday , it will be the 80 anniversary of the liberation of the first concentration camp , and some still haven’t learn t the lesson ! But it’s ok because Tik ToK is back !!!

  11. 5.4 is actually higher than I expected since I feel like douban ratings are usually harsher than I expect. I feel like the long wait for it to air worked against the drama. The anticipation and hype was too much. I was tired of hearing about it (and tired of hearing how Lee Min-ho is bad actor) before it even aired.

  12. Well, I hope this huge flop will put an end to attempts at kdrama westernization. Kdrama is about heart, soul, warmth, butterflies when the couples hold hands. Western shows are about soulless life.

  13. LMH’s co-star love interest looks like his mother or older sister. How can there be on-screen love chemistry if the female main star is sooo unattractive? No wonder this series bombed universally!
