IU is Impeccably Dressed as the Chaebol Daughter in New Stills for MBC Drama Perfect Crown
Even if this K-drama turns out to be just mid, as so many are these days, I’m still planning to watch for the visuals. Female lead IU in the upcoming MBC drama Perfect Crown plays the chaebol heiress who enters an arranged marriage with the nation’s prince to gain the prestige and status she can’t buy with money. She’s done the rich bitch role before with Hotel Del Luna and her character took full advantage of being immortal and having a shit ton of money by dressing extravagantly and I thoroughly loved all her looks. IU in these new stills is serving more rich CEO looks but I’m sure she’ll be cycling through a variety of outfits all of which will become inspo. Not to mention her hair and makeup here is also on point.

She looks good but I’m not sure about the plot. Marrying for power and status is kind of a turn off, I’ve seen enough examples of it in real life. We all know the chances of a healthy loving relationship stemming from that.
Kdrama casting is so so so bad these days. IU should stick to girl next door roles.
But IU has always mixed it up. She’s been…
– an obese high school student (Dream High),
– bitchy kpop idol (The Producers),
– time-traveler who brought mayhem to Goryeo because of her life choices (Scarlet Heart Ryeo),
– depressed and obsessive temp worker (My Mister),
– semi-vindictive immortal girl-boss (Hotel dela Luna),
– destitute single mom (Broker),
– and whatever her role is in Tangerines (haven’t watched it yet).
She tends to alternate between light and heavy, fan favorite versus award-winning fare.
She even did family drama Candy for six months straight (You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin). Girl’s earned her stripes.
Real lousy casting happened more often in C-ent than in K-ent. lol. At least per my recent experience, Kdrama is still interesting to watch due to competent acting even plots aren’t that impressive. Cdrama, however, recycled and shuffled boring pairings again and over again, let alone unwatchable stories that don’t help at all. lol.
This is probably going to be classic rich but illegitimate child setting and she is marrying royal family to have higher status than her family member thing
Not a bad setting but this would really depend in chemistry between the lead. I don’t think bws suits her. This might end like in hotel del luna where people can’t feel her chemistry with yeo jingoo
I don’t recall IU having chemistry with anyone? Even with Park Bo-gum in When Life Gives you Tangerines, it was more like a husband-wife family vibe sticking with each other and taking care of the kids, than about falling in love and delivering romance.
She had nice chemistry with the male leads in moon lover.
In hotel del luna her chemistry with yeo jingoo isn’t nice but she fits well with lee dohyun.
I feel like she has nice chemistry with park bogum especially after they get married, although true, it’s more of family story.
She also has nice chemistry with lee junyoung as geummyeong, I can really feel, “wow they’re so in love”. I was really sad when they broke up
