So one of the big fish free agents in K-ent has a new home and it’s a big land for Ace Factory. K-actor Lee Jong Seok signed with the agency this week joining Lee Joon Hyuk, Kim Ah Joong, Lee Shi Young, Yoo Jae Myung and others at the same home. I thought he would venture out and set up his own one-man agency but he’s continuing with professional representation which is always a safe bet. It’ll be interesting to see what projects this new agency brings in for him and what his next acting challenges are in store.
The only drama of his I have watched is Secret Garden…
Love, love love Secret Garden. It’s one of the very first Kdramas that I saw and it’ll always have a special place in my heart. However, I didn’t like him in Secret Garden one bit. Not the character he played, nor his portrayal.
And I have hard time warming up to the characters he played since then. Totally bias here. He isn’t my cup of tea. Despite that, I still watch dramas with him, but not because of him. The story has to be interesting or the other cast members. No offense, I still don’t get
the hype around him 🤔
Secret garden is one of the reasons I never, ever watched anything he’s in again! 😄😄
I don’t get the hype either , but I guess different people have different tastes!
Funny thing. Uee is the total opposite of LJS to me. Both were in my very first dive into kdreama land. Like LJS Uee played a character I didn’t like at all in the first drama I saw her around the same time as Secret Garden. It was in You’re Beautiful. Her performance was really annoying to me. In everything else I saw her since then I loved her. And I’m totally fond of her by now.
Not his fan either. I did have fun watching several of his dramas: I Can Hear Your Voice (one of my favorite Kdramas), Doctor Stranger, Pinocchio, and W. His roles as ML in other dramas are way better than the minor role he played in SG. He’s a decent actor.
That he is.
I would stay clear of him, if he’d be a bad actor as a leading man. Like I said. I’m bias. And I can’t help it that he never grow on me.
I’ve watched all his dramas
He is a great actor and he is in really good projects
Hopefully his new agency will keep up the good work
I watched all of his dramas till W… after that, I stopped. Often due to uninterested storyline or his lead actress…
I noticed I dont missed his acting… but since he has moved to a new agency…I will be interested in what will come out of it. Hope his first drama with them will be good.
I wonder if something went very wrong with the agency he owned called “A-Man Project? Maybe financial issues? He set up his own agency in 2018 and signed Kwon Nara whom he was rumoured to be dating. She left after they allegedly broke up. Then he suddenly moved his to Song Joong Ki’s agency, Highzium, in 2022 and took the remaining actress from his agency with him. They called it a “strategic partnership” but that seems to be to save face as Highzium clearly took over management and A-Man stopped existing. Now he left SJK’s agency after about 18 months in 2023 and 3 months later signs to Ace Factory.
Kwon Nara is one of the more beautiful Korean artiste… I never knew they dated before…
To run a agency is really hardwork. Sometimes, it is best to join a a trusted agency instead.
Btw, does anyone know if Song Joong Ki is still popular in SK? I seem to get a impression he is losing flavour with SK producers and media… But saying that, media have not been kind towards him, I am not surprised he does not interact with them much. I might be mistaken…Just curious.
@HL:
Interestingly I just saw that Geum Sa Rok left SJK’s agency yesterday too to join BH Ent.
I think Song Joong ki has become kind of irrelevant in SK since his acting in his last drama (the chaebol drama) was trash, his film flopped and he lives in another country. It was noticeable how out of place and uncomfortable he looked at the Blue Dragon awards. He doesn’t seem to have any new CFs either. To be fair, he did manage to score an ambassador deal with Louis Vuitton but it’s a dreadful match as the styling doesn’t match him and he looks like a short clown in their clothes. He also made some stupid statements in an interview that received a lot of backlash. Anyway, he is already rich as hell so he will be fine.
Nara-there were all kinds of rumours about their dating because LJS bought her a Ferrari, they were often spotted out and about together and she was the only artist on his agency for ages. Personally, I thought Nara was pretty years ago during her idol days but had too much work done and looks very plastic and waxy
@Sunny, I can see Song Joong Ki going down in recent years…but if he does want to make a comeback after his enjoyed being a father afew years… it will be interesting to see how he fairs..
Interestingly, your waxy comment strike a cord. I noticed some artiste face looks waxy, do you think it may be too much whitening of skin treatment? or other works. Maybe it is a look that they are going for… I dont like that look but I have seen it around more…
@HL: Yeah, he is male so he could possibly make a comeback if he picks the right role and a good project. A lot of people thought he was over after his divorce but he hit the jackpot with Vincenzo and managed to make a big comeback. He hasn’t managed to sustain it with his follow-up drama and films and the messiness off camera. I also think living overseas will be detrimental to his career in Korea as directors are more likely to choose domestic actors. SJK even admitted he has auditioned for Western projects but hasn’t been successful and I don’t think he will be to be brutally honest.
I think the waxiness is from all of those PS, botox, fillers, maybe some kind of peel. It’s a shame as I think it aged Nara a lot.
