TW-actress Michelle Chen and C-actor Chen Xiao have been married for 8 years since 2016 after meeting on the set of the Yu Zheng abomination of the Return of the Condor Heroes and falling in love. There have been frequent rumors of their impending divorce since their marriage, even heated up more after they had a son together. Last week the rumors came back in full force this time with more details – that Chen Xiao asked for the divorce, Michelle does not want it, and that he’s moved out since December 2023 so 6-months ago and refuses any contact with her, he changed his cell and her only way to contact him is through his team.
The reasons remain the same – cultural differences between folks who grew up in Mainland and Taiwan, her insecurity and clinginess, and his indifference. Neither side has responded to this round of rumors but this week Michelle, who normally lives in Taipei with their son, is in China to film a modern C-drama titled Sniper Butterfly. Legit this drama wouldn’t even make any waves but for the fact that 41-year old Michelle is starring in a romance opposite 22-year old Zhou Ke Yu making the 19-year age gap one of the largest in recent C-drama memory. I don’t even know who this fetus Zhou Ke Yu is other than he looks like if you smushed Xu Kai and Yang Yang together and popped out their AI gene combo child. Michelle is also getting flack for the highly photoshopped posters when she looks way closer to her real age at the filming ceremony this week.

One other big age-gap difference drama was The Rational Life starring Qin Lan and Wang Hedi. It worked well enough there, plus their interviews were great. They were very comfortable with each other and WH brought out the playful side of QL.
The problem with this Sniper pairing is that her personal drama is overshadowing the actual drama. We’ll see if it works out somehow.

As the couple has suffered from numerous divorce rumors since their marriage, it makes sense that they no longer acknowledge the rumors if they just want to work. Let the couple admit to whatever they choose about their marriage when they are good and ready. It’s their private life after all.
It’s like Cnetizens WANT them to breakup with the way they publicize people’s private life before the couple admits to anything.

Dylan Wang (1998) and Qin Lan (1979) had the same age gap in ‘The Rational Life’ (19 years) and they looked pretty good together imo…probably one of my favorite partner of Dylan Wang (drama is an underrated gem). Chemistry was chemistrying despite the huge age gap.

There have been a ton of rumors about these two since forever so it’s best to ignore unless there’s some sort of official announcement. Tbh I wouldn’t even be denying at this point if I were them. It’s useless.

I skimmed a bit of this piece of gossip when it came up on the hot searches. As hot searches on Weibo are usually bought, we can guess who bought the hot searches via analysing the marketing accounts’ narratives. In those hot searches, the marketing accounts claimed that there’s rumours of Chen Xiao being cold to Michelle after the marriage, hasn’t seen the family for a long time, wanting a divorce so much that he’s willing to give all his assets to Michelle in exchange for the divorce, etc etc. While Chen Xiao’s fans retaliated by claiming that Michelle plays around a lot before marriage and that Chen Xiao only found out about it after they got married. If they’re really getting divorce, it’s going to be a big hot mess.
I think that was one not flattering picture, I saw a few others from the same event and she looks pretty good and cute. This couple have had divorce rumours for years but never seemed to care to dispel these rumours actively. Chen Xiao does have a resting bitch unhappy face when he’s not smiling – I think the netizens are reading too much into small things. After 8 years of marriage you don’t smile like crazy every day like your wedding day or show off your love on social media to all as much as your dating days but that doesn’t mean you don’t love each other (says someone experienced in marriage) I think they are fine even if they are not, it’s their private affair and people shouldn’t point fingers.
But if they were shown smiling and sharing their loving moments all the time, people would say they are faking it lol. Neither side would make them satisfied.

In the drama The Substitute Princess’s Love, Dylan Kuo has an age gap of 25 years with the female lead, she could be his daughter lol. He even had filters applied to decrease his age, but they were obvious.
Not how I expected to find out that Keyu is in a drama as a lead but I’m sure he will do his best. And the description of his appearance is hilariously on point.
It’s an annual rumor at this point. And they’re both currently filming so I don’t blame them for not responding. It sucks when people actively root for your separation. It’s as if these people have nothing else going on in their life so they want celebs to also be unhappy just like them. And even if it’s true, it’s really not anybody’s business.

I was new to C-dramas when they got married but I just remember people didn’t like them as a couple at all and their teams being adamant it wasn’t a shotgun marriage at first, then she announced she was pregnant when they registered the marriage and baby boy came along five months later lmao 🤣
