The Remarried Empress with Shin Mina, Lee Jong Seok, Joo Ji Hoon, and Lee Se Young Releases Sumptuous Poster and New Preview
In the early days of K-drama watching there was a lot of fan casting and fan drama writing, the kind of what-ifs that viewers make up for their fave stars and fun genres. The Remarried Empress is like one of those fanfiction creations come to life, with the insane casting of four top stars as leads in Shin Mina, Lee Jong Seok, Joo Ji Hoon, and Lee Se Young and the insane faux-European royalty setting of the backdrop of two Kingdoms in conflict both political and romantic. I’m so excited for this because I am expecting cheesy and I’m all for it, make it as over-the-top and lean into it. From the costuming to the messy love quadrangle, at least this feels different than what is out there in recent years in K-drama land. The new poster and preview totally make it look like a full blown sageuk in intensity and unsaid conflict but transplanted to a Western historical backdrop, let’s go for it!
New trailer for The Remarried Empress:

This entire production feels like an elaborate prank.
The only cast member I’m remotely interested in here is JJH, but I don’t know if even he’s enough to make me watch. The entire thing looks like a train wreck, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong.
The entire European historical backdrop still feels completely out of place, reminiscent of how the Netflix series Bridgerton forces diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into its casting. It just feels so odd! lol
Talking about a Korean royal? Give me back my Joseon-era costumes, PLZ! lol.
what a maga opinion
Is it wrong that I want JJH and Shin Mina to end up together bec I know just know they will have chemistry
It must be super hard for Koreans to adapt their romance fantasy webtoon and novels. Reminds me of Nodame cantabile older drama where some European characters were still played by Japanese actors who were mixed but it just added a comedy element and was awkward but funny. However, Korea cosplaying a European vibe is just so odd. There are so many European webtoon and webnovels from Korea. I really feel they should consider maybe adapting a majority into animation because I feel it would garner alot of international fans and carry the stories intent better but that is just what I feel. I probably won’t watch this but I will keep my eyes peeled for audience reactions because it can be just as entertaining than watching the actual drama.
I do agree , animation adaptations would be great as the japanese ones in the 80’s 90’which were really popular back then in Italia,France,…
I also agree with @Somebody, i’m for diversity and tutti cuanti, but some adaptations are just a big no . But i suppose that’s why they call it a fiction !
Love Shin Mina, but cannot stomach LJS. Would like to watch and will try it, but story and acting from other cast members will have to be perfect to get past LJS as her love interest.
