Wow, consider me surprised by how quickly the new tvN weekend drama is doing well. Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born premiered on Saturday with 4.844% ratings and has nearly doubled the next day with episode 2 bringing in 8.216%. This is incredible and kudos to Kim Tae Ri for once again delivering on both quality and ratings and showing her leading lady chops yet again in a super strong cast including Ra Mi Ran, Shin Ye Eun, Jung Eun Chae, and Kim Yoon Hye. For ratings comparison, the biggest hit this year is still Queen of Tears which premiered with a slighter higher 5.853% and its episode 2 got a similar rating of 8.660%. This will make for an additional fun watch of Jeongnyeon to see if it’s mainstream ratings cred keeps going up and up.

The ratings are crazy impressive. I haven’t seen it yet and it’s not for the lack of trying as I was on a business trip. I’ll be watching it asap. KTR is the definition of a true queen! She hasn’t faltered in a kdrama yet and I don’t expect her to do so now either.
I was honestly rather bored with EP1 but EP2 was so much better. I find that usually the case with all KTR dramas. I almost dropped 2521 and Mr Sunshine before persevering. I like KTR, but I’m more interested in all the other ladies. Loving RMR as usual and can’t wait to see with SYE can do in this drama with MSR.
