So the big name in C-drama adaptations these past two years is write Qian Shan Cha Ke 千山茶客 who has had four big C-dramas aired or on deck adapted from her novels. There is The Double with Wu Jin Yan and Wang Xing Yue, and on deck is Legend of the Female General with Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei followed by Noble Lady with Chen Du Ling and Xin Yun Lai, and the most recently filmed was A Dream within a Dream with Li Yi Tong and Liu Yu Ning. Now her fifth C-drama adaptation based on her novel The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage is being prepared and there is so much chatter about who will be cast. Setting aside impossible names being floated like Zhao Li Ying, Dilraba Dilmurat, and Chen Xiao (I know, ridic right?), the two sets of potential leads being discussed by insider insiders as actually getting contacted by the production during the casting process is Dylan Wang with Yang Chao Yue and more recently Cheng Yi and Zhao Lu Si. These two potential pairings frustrate me because unless it’s Dylan with Lu Si which I would love the other two are just not my jam and also really wrong for the roles. I love Qian Shan Cha Ke novels and this one is no different so PLEASE CAST WELL thanks.
This is her first most popular novel! One of my first few novels…Oh gosh, please pick a good cast. I am been waiting so long for a good adaptation. I really dont see Yang Chao Yue is suitable for the lead role.

Its my fav too! Its the novel that got me hooked on rebirth and face-slapping cnovel. Who do you think suits as the MLs? Personally I can imagine Cheng Lei as the ML but since he did the female general drama, I don’t think there’s a chance he will do this. And for the FML I can’t imagine anyone at the moment that suits Shen Miao.
I’ll have to put in a word for my 2 of my fav actors who are both good actors and can play intense- Zhang Wan Yi or Liu Xue Yi. Pair with Ni Ni or Wang Churan.

@Rei @Vuasa, Not my choice but there are afew names from the younger Gen that may be fighting for the male role- Wu Lei, Zhang Linghe, Arthur Chen, Dylan Wang, Liu Xueyi or dark horse Chen Xingxu… just my guess.
If I had a choice…I wish it was Xiao Zhan..but I highly doubt so. He will need to bulk up for the role.
As for female, Zhou Lusi is highly possible, Xu Ruo Han, Lu Yu Xiao, Wang Yu Wen, Xiang Han Zhi, Wang Ying Lu, Yang Xi Zi- these are a new group of actress I feel can be suitable for the role but unfortunately, they are too new and may not draw enough investments. Thus we might see the repeated top actress cast again..
Who knows..may be it will be another Xiao Zhan/Yang Zi combi again…🤔 it is just so unpredictable sometimes. But this will definitely lead to a fanwar.

The rumored pairing is ludicrous. Dylan with YCY and CY with Lusi? LOL. Agreed with Koala about the casting. Dylan with Lusi perhaps is infeasible due to billing.
Cheng Yi with Zhao Lusi is also infeasible lol. Honestly more people should learn from Yang Yang and Dilraba and settle on equal billing so we can see more powerhouse pairings.

ITA with this. There are so many top actors I’d love to see work together but because of billing issues, the pairings probably won’t happen. I’d love to see an actor so secure in their status that they honestly don’t make a fuss over it. If the drama is male centric, give top billing to the lead male actor. If the drama is female centric give top billing to the lead female actor. If the story centers around both leads then they should share top billing.
Honestly the rumor sounds fake af. Melon accs say the drama won’t be filmed until late next year. Prob released by either Zhao Lusi or Cheng Yi’s team; prob the former since her drama is underperforming and there are many negative articles on her acting.

If any dramas performing badly it’s Cheng Yi’s new drama. Story of Pearl is doing really good actually.
YCY should not be allowed to ruin anymore beloved IPs. I love her real life personality and think she’s adorable, but she was dreadful in LYST. Stick to variety shows, do supporting roles for a while, and really hone your craft before attempting to lead again, please.

Wu Jin Yan would really do this role well. I’ve read the novel before and seeing her in The Double I think she’d be a perfect fit.
Rosy is a good choice as well.
My ideal pairing would be either Rosy and Ryan or Wu Jin Yan and Wang Xing Yue.
Regardless though, one can only hope they don’t f up the casting. That’s the 1st step you have to get right when doing a drama adaptation.
Lu Yuxiao or He Landou might be good as Shen Miao. Not too famous either. This would allow for immersion in the story.

This is one of her weaker novels but I do have a soft spot for it, and it should be even easier to adapt than The Double. It’s kind of trashy lol but 复仇爽文 are always golden for drama scripts. But there’s 90% chance for the adaptation to suck.
Would love zhao liying in darker role. I think she can be believable. Not zhao lusi. Her voice alone is a no.
