Lim Ji Yeon in Talks for Time Travel Modern Romance K-drama Brave New World
Oh I really like this set up! Time travel K-dramas more frequently feature a modern person going back to a historical or fantasy period but the few where a period person comes to modern era has been super fun. I’m thinking The Story of Park’s Marriage, and Live Up to Your Name famously did both way travel. There is now another one that is being prepped is title Brave New World and the female lead in talks is Lim Ji Yeon. The drama is about a modern day actress possessed by the spirit of a concubine from historical dynasty who was accused of being a femme fatale/evil consort and sentenced to die by poison. She comes to the modern era and her personality takes over the actress and changes her life and she gets entangled with an arrogant and bossy chaebol. The drama is billed as a rom-com and is scheduled for a 2026 release.
Sound interesting, but I strongly dislike the possession angle, when it is unclear who the real person it, the other leads falls in love with. Those rarely have satisfying endings. I hope this isn’t the angle they are going for.
This! They never manage to end it properly, I think only The Haunted Palace did it.
I had to drop Oh my ghost. I absolutely loved it but I couldn’t see how it could end in a satisfying way when he didn’t care for her before she was possessed. Also a reason why I can’t watch Mr. Queen.
That sounds awesome, I hope she gets a great ML! She will eat this role and leave no crumbs, it’s a perfect for her.
Thinking chaebols: Lee Soo Hyuk could do it. Lee Dong Wook could do it. (We all know Gong Yoo could do it but trying not to aim for the sky!) Lee Jae-Wook or Kim Young-Dae if they want to go noona romance. Kim Jae-Wook or Kim Seon-Ho or… as long as they can do effectively imposing.
Interesting synopsis! What if the overbearing chaebol played by her rl bf, Lee Do Hyun? I’m curious how this talented couple would build up explosive chemistry on screen. I don’t mind hot and sexy Lee Jae Wook or Kim Young Dae as someone suggested either. lol
