iQiyi Schedules Republic Era to Modern Times Vignette C-drama Zu Ji with Tong Yao, Cheng Lei, and Jelly Lin for September 4th Premiere
I’ve seen back-to-back drama releases for C-stars but this is the rare back-to-back-to-back three peat coming for actor Cheng Lei. This week iQiyi will release the ensemble through-the-eras C-drama Zu Ji (Chinese title means footprints) with female lead Tong Yao in the 1950’s era and Cheng Lei with Jelly Lin in the earlier 1930’s period, and then Wang He Run takes over for the 1990’s era. The stories follow the development of eras leading to modern China from the war against Japan to the early days of Communism into the opening of the country with economic development. I’ll probably skip this drama but it’s certainly going to appeal to some other viewers.
Trailer for Zu Ji:

I always enjoy watching him on my small screen. Thus i have a soft spot for him. Will give this one a try eventho the genre isnt really my cup of tea.
Back to back, the second half of 2025 is Chenglei’s time to shine.
CCP is so desperate for state propaganda! Here comes another agitprop LOL. CCP had no part in war against Japan. The regime was actually a benefactor of the war, and the CCP founder, Bandit Mao Zedong, literally thanked Japan for invading China LMAO. Dare they are now shamelessly stealing the credits of fighting Japanese invasion from the other government, CCP’s predecessor, aka the Republic of China! LOL. How idiotic for CCP authority to wishfully think they can revise the history through fallacy on screen! This is so comical with blatant lies, and a huge insult to drama fans’ IQ. LOL and SMH.
Looks interesting. I’ve been watching This Thriving Land and surprised at how much I’m enjoying it. This one covers various history periods so will be a watch for me. (And a little Cheng Lei doesn’t hurt either!)
