Deng Wei Reportedly Taking Over Xu Kai’s Role in Dual Male Lead Drama Ting Feng Ling with Wei Zhe Ming
One person’s lost opportunity is another person’s gain, and with news that the production of period investigation C-drama Ting Feng Ling is not casting currently embroiled in scandal Xu Kai as the male lead there is an open role for another actor. That actor may be Deng Wei, as news is circulating he’s taking over and will work with the already cast other male lead Wei Zhe Ming. Deng Wei could use a solid male lead role in a good C-drama after being side tracked for a year with no drama filming and then his currently filming C-drama The Days of Seclusion and Love having issues such as funding running out leading to pauses in filming and even rumors that the female lead role has been increased to the detriment of him as the male lead. There is so much drama in C-drama land lol.

Very good news for me. Really love to watch these 2 in this kinda drama
Xu Kai is really in big trouble. Even Yu Zheng is quiet.
No. He’s not. It’s a shame you so easily (eagerly?) swallow the trash spewed by a nobody with no proof. She’s even admitted it was a (twisted) prank on Yu Zheng. And YZ isn’t supporting him because he hasn’t signed a new contract.
Unfortunately, but admirably, Xu Kai won’t pay to block this crap so people like you are fooled too easily.
🥱
For Yu Zheng to keep his fat mouth shut really does speak to the severity of the situation
so this drama level will no longer be S+ but A+. They didn’t bother to exchange with an S-tier actor or DW’s team is still selling fake prosperity to find him work again lol.
@Didi This. I can’t imagine anyone, much less an investor, thinking Deng Wei is an adequate replacement for Xu Kai. And after the casting battle between Xu Kai and Wei Zhe Ming, I seriously doubt WZM’s fans are going to settle for second lead to someone like Deng Wei.
XK fans didn’t want this drama because the partner is know sells CP girls/boys, Ying/yang scenario and problematic producer. Seen marketing accounts says statuts is sub par to play a dual role. Fans on both sides are happy for melons to not be true. There was a lot of controversy about to tearing this melon apart indeed.
The reality for DW is after LYF, he hasn’t solidified position. This whole thing about waiting to choose good scripts is fake. The market for long dramas is declining. Some actors can’t even get dramas. Finding projects is even harder. Despite all the marketing, you can’t convince investors selling fakes. You need to have concrete achievements. Which he doesn’t have yet pretending. He should focus on playing more projects to improving and get real results. It’s prob his team is fighting for this project like the other one. Except he gets it, the S+ will be gone. The filming crew isn’t stupid. They’ll think twice.
Oh god I remember your username. You’re still hating on Deng Wei because of the Lost You Forever drama lmao. Let it goooo.
@Didi I saw that Yu Zheng was pitching a fit about the alleged ying yang script and he was definitely part of the casting fight. I wonder if the whole thing falls apart, given the problems the drama had before?
Exactly. Deng Wei has no real record as a main ML, and investors in this market are not dumb. He and his team are inflating his reputation and very busy throwing his name at every big project out there.
Xu Kai is Yu Zheng’s golden boy and yu Zheng dislikes Deng Wei….
Yet Yu Zheng treats Xu Kai like trash. He uses him to greenlight a drama, then reduces his screentime and gives it to an SML he’s promoting.
That is actually hilarious. I love anything that will piss Yu Zheng off
@foulthings
🤣 yeah good that yu Zheng gets rattled. He had been mean to some actors….
@DH
At the end of the day, the artistes are at the mercy of their agencies / directors / producers ….. 😢
Upgrade, honestly.
I agree, upgrade. This is great news.
I just don’t see the hype of this drama. Even when xu Kai’s name was attached to it… it just sounds like another drama that has elements done before and there might even be other dramas with similar plotting airing around the same time. It seems it might have even been hyped up because xu kai was attached to it. Deng Wei improved in his last drama but maybe paired with miles Wei it could work. Seems this is more hyped up due to xu Kai’s scandal too. Hopefully this drama has the script and makings to make all this hype workout.
DW was always good to me. Even in LYF but his character lost a lot of scenes from the novel so production screwed his character. He was good in Miss the Dragon and Love of the Divine Tree. A lot of his smaller roles didn’t have depth. I think he carries main well but honestly he carries villain look really well which I was so surprised at.
Jing didn’t lose any more scenes than any other character in LYF and the production certainly did NOT screw the character over. If anything, they boosted the character by pushing him as the ‘official CP,’ and adding him to scenes. His big name fans got sued and had to apologize for spreading this sort of nonsense.
It doesn’t matter how good you think he was in individual dramas, but his record as a main male lead who can bring in the money for a production. He literally has only had one role, Love of the Divine Tree, where he was the main lead, and that didn’t do so well. Compare him to Xu Kai or even Miles Wei, and his record for being a main male lead is practically non-existent.
LOTDT literally has a 7.1 on douban which is crazy good for a xianxia romance. You have a hate boner for DW because your fave didn’t get the girl. You’ve been at this for literally 2 years, it’s pathetic.
Love of the Divine Tree getting a bought 7.1 on Douban isn’t going to erase the stain of having an expensive drama basically flop, to the point that the well known director came out and tried to defend the drama by blaming the audience. Nor does it change the fact that this money loser was the only drama Deng Wei was the main male lead, which doesn’t inspire investors to throw money at him.
LOL! Ludicrous. They are fictional characters, who cares? I don’t have a hate boner for Deng Wei, but I don’t like how he, and his fans, started numerous fan wars and slandered everyone associated with LYF to the point they had to be sued.
@ dix
I liked him since miss the dragon. He took on many supporting roles so he did build some foundation… I thought he and Julia had good chemistry in LotDT. And of course in LYF, he did well. Not sure why people dislike him….did hedo anything wrong?
A person on Deng Wei’s team instigated drama online and was quickly fired. That’s literally it. But certain people are crazy fans of one of the other male leads in LYF and because that male lead didn’t end up with the FL, they have a permanent vendetta against Deng Wei. I’ve seen these usernames on MDL for years trashing DW, it’s crazy behavior.
This is not true at all. Just ask the Yang Zi fans what Deng Wei and his team and fans were doing. They literally trashed and harassed all the main cast, the director, the author Tong Hua, the production company, Tencent, the agencies of actors, even. They even went after Dai Lu Wa! They eventually got sued and had to apologize for their lies and behavior.
Haha thank you @foulthings for calling Kokuto out (she’s been spreading lies about Deng Wei and smearing his name for too long). It’s been 2 years…it’s time to let it go (our fandom moved on a long time ago you know) . Most Deng Wei/Jing fans didn’t care enough about last part of LYF anyway and only few commented on the drama’s page on MDL (part 2 sucked) …they were fed up with the bullshit thrown at them by a certain fandom during season 1(someone of their fandom even expressed her boredom in one of her post…probably bummed over the fact she couldn’t bully Jing fans anymore🙄🙄🙄)
@panda eyes Nothing I said was false, unlike the crap his fans spread around and got sued and had to apologize for.
Oh no it’s Yu Zheng? That’s the same dude who was trashing Deng Wei years ago, right? That guy has major issues across the board. As much as I love and adore Deng Wei, I hope he doesn’t have to work on this one. He can’t be that desperate for work.
