Modern Romance C-drama The Epoch of Miyu with Wallace Chung and Zhu Zhu Becomes April 2026’s Surprise Small Hit
April is nearing the close and no C-drama is worth talking about that arrived this month other than the totally under the radar small budget modern romance and workplace C-drama The Epoch of Miyu (Mi Yu Ji 蜜语纪). Starring Wallace Chung and Zhu Zhu, it’s tailored for adult audiences rather than the younger generation preferring the sweet first love romance idol dramas. Zhu Zhu plays a woman who divorces her cheating husband and then goes back to the work force and of course finds hot boss Wallace Chung appreciating and falling for her despite her divorced status. It’s basically a mash up of The Fierce Wife and Marry My Husband with the trope of loyal woman betrayed by a shitty man finds new love with a better man story. The drama hit 27500 heat index on Tencent, has seen its viewership increasing as the episodes drop, and had added new advertisers rather than losing advertisers (like flop Rebirth did). The reviews are solid as well for the fast paced story and directing along with leads that are likeable and have chemistry.

I’ve always liked Wallace Chung. He’s still doing idol dramas, but at least has shifted to more mature themes. His recent leading ladies are also in the similar age bracket.
Those cartoon penguins are too cute. What the heck?! Never seen a drama use them before from what I can remember.
Zhuzhu is perfect in this role. Wallaces hair feels unnatural in the drama. My only complain is Miyus cook friend, Qiaoqi. Although her acting is good, but she looks too young in the quartet group.
