Playful Kiss Episode 4 Recap — 10 Comments

  1. Yes, another cute episode! Overall, though, I didn’t enjoy it as much as episode 3. Spoilers tend to do that to you, which is why I’m trying to stay away from them. Perhaps you may disagree with me on this one, but I think that Lee Tae Sung is overdoing it. His character, Joon Gu is really adorable but I think Lee is going too OTT for my taste. I tend to unintentionally zone out a lot when his scenes come up, especially during the scenes when he’s talking to himself super loudly. ><'' On another note, Seung Jo's Mom is probably one of the biggest highlights of this show for me, along with Seung Jo and Ha Ni. Heck, the entire Baek family is wonderful. I want to find another word for "cute!" but I'm coming up short. My brain is fried from writing an essay.

AIEEEEEEEE!!! The ending of episode 4 got me pretty worked up and excited for next week! I haven't seen the Taiwanese version (yet) so I don't know what's going to happen. I know that a lot of people think that the story is banal, but I think Playful Kiss has added a lot of fresh elements to it to make it more original, even though it's based on a manga. I'm definitely looking forward to THE first kiss of many kisses to come, as well as seeing more of Kim Hyun Joon's pretty-boy smiles. :drools: Well, I'm crossing my fingers for it to continue as a fun and wonderful ride! Cheers until next time!

  2. thanks for da recap!! I want to watch it so bbbadly..despite its extremely poor ratings.i have not watched any of its earlier version. The male lead was terrible in BOF but i hope he is better here.the girl seems to be doin well. Can’t wait for next recap.thanks again!!

  3. Been reading your recaps of PK and wanted to say thanks.

I love your enthusiasm for this drama because I feel the same. It’s a pretty typical kdrama…but it has such a sweet, innocent vibe to it and therefore I just love watching it.

Oh Ha Ni is simply adorable. She’s so innocent, but certainly not a pushover. She’s rivaling Go Mi Nam for my affections.

Baek Seung Jo is shaping up to be worthy of OHN’s crush. KHJ is simply divine to look at so I often overlook the lack of expressions sometimes.

OMGeeee….the ending! I could have fed my imagination for what comes next for days with that ending. But alas, I did see the previews and I know nothing happened. 🙂

Hehe….I just wanted to say thanks for a quick recap. It really helps me while I wait for viikii.

  4. When I read your recaps, it makes me want to see the TW version…Should I? I’m concerned that it will ruin what I completely love about what I’m watching now.

  5. @ notoriousnoona

NOOOOO….not yet at least. I recommend you not watching the TW version during the PK run. If after PK finishes you want to check it out, then I would recommend it. It’s not one of the most popular TW-dramas for nothing.

But I warn you that Xiang Qin, the Ha Ni of ISWAK, is dumber than the dumbest human being you’ve met in your life. So be prepared to dislike her, but she does grow on you with her kindness and perseverence.

  6. aaaah….the famous rain kiss of ISWAK…hw i love that kiss…watching and knowing hw the plot unfolds here has made me go back to several scenes in ISWAK bt none more than that kiss…..i even fast forwarded to the entire Itazura na kiss anime for that kiss and rewatched it several times too…thanx for the recaps…it makes feel less like im in the minority of those who seem to have taken a liking for this one despite everything

  7. for some odd reason, although I’m waiting on both SKKS and Itakiss to air, I’m only avidly awaiting Itakiss recaps. Maybe because I’ve read and watched it so many times, and because of the lighter subject material of the show?

but that means – THANK YOU for the recaps!

and like you, I like Hani a WHOLE lot more than I liked Xiang Qin in the TW version, and definitely more than the original Japanese version (there was a scene in that version where Irie-kun realised that he liked her by her screechy voice yelling his name eeriely over and over, echoing in his head… I’ll never understand Japanese men!)

but unlike you, i am NOT a unbiased watcher at all, and my love for an actress is entirely tied up in my love for a character!

  8. i loving this version of swak… each episode is fun to watch… i really can’t help but laugh over ha ni’s clumsiness…. hahaha she’s so adorable… and jung so min really play her role very well.. it’s like she was born to play that role… hehehehe… i’ll recommend this drama to my friends… i’ll tell them that if they want to laugh then try watching this drama…:)))
