Yun Zhong Ge Chapter 6: Snow In The Palm — 30 Comments

  1. Ah…all of there relationships are so complicated. I love it! And you are so right, Koala. Yun Ge is so bright and cheery and the rest of them are so broken they are naturally drawn to her.

Thank you again for this chapter! The ending was so lovely.

    • TH’s going to kill me soon. Her chapter titles get more complicatedly beautiful, and by volume 3 it becomes poetic verses and entire sonnets. *I dies*

      • I’m beginning to understand what you said about the beauty of the journey of this book…thanks for introducing us to Chinese literature…

      • I think her titles have made a dramatic improvement from DMY as they don’t let the cat out of the bag before you read the chapter e.g. deflowering, poisoning, etc in DMY.

  2. “Under the bright moonlight, the misty and floating white tufts appeared to transform their little world into a very light, very soft, very clean, very happy dream.”

what a beautiful scene…. tong hua really give care to paint these short yet vivid painting in our head.

    • Agree ! I love this line as well … I can clearly visualize the scene in my head ^^.
Thank you , Koala san for this beautiful chapter ^^

  3. I think Yang Mi is one of the prettiest girl on the planet. Koala, you post the best pictures for each chapter. Thank you for the visual!

  4. another giddy chapter. i just love love all these tidbits of tender moments between all the characters.

I wonder if Liu BY have told Xu PJ of the story and show her the gravesites as he just did to Yun Ge. Did he grow close to YG to share or was also interested in her too.

Now I am curious what the secret wishes they had. She knew jie jie’s wish as she wrote for her. It will be revealed later right? Is it a confession? to the same man? 😀

I really want to know if Meng Jue feels guilty at all for playing YG because he has set his sight on ‘revenge’ and married for his advantage instead of going for his heart. Did he ever love YG? How did he come to know her and why ask for hand in marriage if it was him?

    thanks again dear! xoxo

  5. All these chapters seem like the calm before the storm.
And I’m so feeling the beginning of Yun Ge’s love for Meng Jue, unlike I felt Yu Er’s for Jiu Ye. I mean, for Yu er it was like love at first sight, but for Yun Ge it’s been gradual, slowly falling in love. I can’t wait to see Liu Fu Ling come into the scene and know what will happen between them.

Thanks so much for the wonderful translation. This book is beautiful, and being faithful to the original text and keep the meaning and the feeling of the words is very difficult, so *bows* to you. 🙂

  6. I thanks ms K
like this novel, but I’m afraid read this novel cause there’s people said this novel have sad ending. The story that have sad ending make me sad and stress for a few day.
Love the way you translate this novel for us.
    DMY next chapter please!

  7. Such a pretty picture!! I like.

Speaking of images, did anyone else take a double take after looking up Emperor Zhao (Liu Fuling) in wiki? YZG is so vivid and realistic, but I’ll die if LGG looks like Liu Fuling’s ‘portrait’ in wiki. Thank god Koala posted some nicely drawn pics of how LGG and MJ looks like in her first post else.

    • Hahaha, TH is at her heart a shoujo-romance writer. Her massacring of history is pretty out of this world. I don’t mind, and I am not PO’d she sometimes claims her wild stories could even have a shred of realism.

But if you look up the real 4th, 8th, 13th, 14th, Huo Qu Bing, Liu Fu Ling, Liu Xun – man are those some ugly men. Thank god TR makes her leading men total dreamboats. And then she never ever fails to constantly mention how good looking they are. As if we’d forget.

She goes the most overboard with Meng Jiu and Meng Jue. When I’m translating sometimes I want to say “Stop it! I know he’s ridiculously handsome, that was the 5th time you’ve mentioned it in this chapter alone.”

      • Oh boy I looked them up and …OMG they are far from the dreamy versions that TH writes them up to be! I will forever remember LGG and MJ as the gorgeous men in the pictures you included in the intro to YZG! Thx Koala!

  8. Thank you, Koala for another chapter translation. The language and imagery is simply beautiful. Even while reading, it evokes all the senses….I swear I could see Yun Ge resting her chin on her knees blowing dandelion seeds across the courtyard. I was wondering how TH would achieve “Snow In The Palm”. Meng Ju’s dandelions were perfect!

  9. wow … speechless… still in the mood for love. MJ and YG’s dandelion’s scene was so very romantic… 0-0

  10. Hi miss koala,
Thank you so much for taking your time to translate these wonderful chapters! Your translations help me understand the book so much better even though i read the viet translations! <3
This book is just heartbreaking in the way she wrote her male characters. Meng Jue is just so devoted to Yun Ge it kills me!! Later on [spoiler alert!!] when his taste buds start to taste again and he wanted so badly to have a taste of her cooking…and when he finally does, she poisons him, and he still drank it anyways knowing what she did!!! He cares about her so much that he rather let her think he did it than let her find out the awful truth of what actually happened…. So sad T.T i wish yun ge could clone herself so thered be one for meng jue 🙁

    • Hi Thao, I also read the Viet version (converted – not translated one so can only understand 60% of the story). From the 60% understanding, I thought the reason MJ didn’t tell YG the truth was that he’s worried she would take revenge….. and got hurt/killed in the process (???)

      • Yeah, he didn’t want her to take revenge buy he also didnt want her to think that she contributed to it unknowingly and torture herself with that thought.

    • OMG, is that how it ends ? I’m not sure I want to read further and be more absorbed into this YZG world than I already am. It is so beautifully written. I am mesmerised by MJ. I don’t know, maybe knowing the ending tempers the pain somewhat later.

    • Sorry to ask, but would you be able to e-mail me the ending? I sort of want to prepare myself first. My e-mail is faythele@yahoo.com. I like the young YG better than the grown up one. But overall, I like her mother’s no-nonsense take charge kind of attitude better.
